Well Action Flicks has been on for a few months now, what does everyone think??
The movie selection has been pretty cool, but they are already repeating movies. The bumps are okay but the "Action Nood" seems to just stand there and do nothing, but maybe it's because he is just so BA that he just chills....
I like the fact that Naruto and DC get a lot of play, but more flicks are needed....
What's everyones take??
I like the selection and applaud how they play TV-14 movies, but they really need more variety. And Naruto.

As in the show Naruto.
CN usualy airs Naruto after AF, but I wouldn't call Naruto a part of AF, the bumps change and of isn't a .....flick

If they only have a little selection of movies to air, then what was the point of cancelling Toonami for this?

When something came one Toonami most viewers first thought of it as a Toonami movie or show; when something comes on Action Flicks most first thinks of it as a CN movie.

I don't know if I'd say usually, since this is the first time in a month that Naruto has aired. Honestly, they just need to cancel Action Flicks and bring back the hour of Naruto. Action Flicks was a stupid idea to begin with. There aren't that many animated action flicks out there that they need a weekly block to air them. I mean, we only got 4 new movies on Action Flicks. After they aired those it was back to the Naruto and DC movies that they've already aired before. It's absolutely ridiculous how many times they've played the Naruto movies and yet they barely ever play the Naruto series. If they brought an hour of Naruto back they could get to Shippuden in a little over a month, but Cartoon Network is too stupid to do that.

It's probably just cheaper to air a bunch of movies that they already have the rights to than it is to buy new series to put on Toonami. I mean, in theory they could have just used Toonami to run encores of the You Are Here shows, but they probably figured since they rerun them on Saturday there wasn't a point. Then again, considering they are going to start airing Ben 10 and Batman: The Brave and the Badly Drawn prior to Action Flicks, it does seem rather pointless to replace a block of action shows with a weekly action movie.

Toonami was cancelled because of ratings and CN wanting to move into some new directions and Toonami didn't fit the mold, the well was dry in other words.
I don't want this to turn into a Toonami cryfest so moving along....
If CN got some new movies to air and changed up the bumps and feel of Action Flicks then I would be a happy man!

No, I didn't say I wanted Toonami back. I was just saying, Action Flicks has only a small selection of movies and they constantly air them over and over. I was hoping for something better for Toonami's replacement.
Exactly. There is absolutely no reason for AF to be replaying the same flicks over and over again, when they have such a big selection to choose from. What angers me the most, is that CN has been airing different action flicks (Titans In Tokyo, Mr. Freeze, the Pokemon Movies) ON THE SAME DAY. They are removing this in January, but why not show these flicks on AF?

But seriously....what, was Naruto Movie 3 on 3 times in the past a month and a half? 1 was on twice as well-the shame is that 2 hasn't been on in months, and it's the best one. And seeing as I don't watch the Marvel/DC movies(except Gotham Knight, which was LOLZpwnzorz) I'm not left with much.
And I'm missin' Naruto. Bad enough that Shippuden most likely ain't airin' on TV, but to not finish the original series when you're only a few episode away from the end-wtf?

Action Flicks is okay, but I agree that it needs more variety. If they show Naruto 3 one more time...

I think Action Flicks is a pretty good block. They have shown some good movies, but they definitely need to have more variety. In fact, that's the main problem with the block since they haven't had a new movie on it for quite awhile.

I think that Action Flicks is a good idea, it just poorly implemented. I just want variety in the movies, but at least they're not airing the same movie the next week after like they did with Ben 10 Alien Force Episode I kept running into on Toonami.

If there were say four times (At least) as many animated actions movies then there are (Or if cartoon network had the rights to more then they have) it would be a good idea. As it is it sucks. It;s the same five movies (or six) over and over again.

They should really play some of the DBZ movies & show the kids today how awesome it is.

Just s long as the DBZ movies are more than just Dead Zone, Tree of Might and World's Strongest. CN has shown those 3 movies many, many, many, many times already.

I actually had started a thread just like this one a little while back, but that's ok. Here's a list of movies that I'd like to see them air. I don't think that they've aired any of these on the "Action Flicks" block:
Transformers:The Movie (1986, not the garbage that came out in 2007)
GI Joe:The Movie (1987)
He-Man/She-Ra:Secret Of The Sword
Batman:Mask Of The Phantasm
Batman:Subzero
Titan A.E.
GI Joe:Spytroops
GI Joe: Valor Vs Venom
Star Wars:Clone Wars:Volume 1
Star Wars:Clone Wars:Volume 2
Superman:Brainiac Attacks
Teen Titans:Trouble In Tokyo
TMNT
Star Wars:Clone Wars (2008)

By airing movies they are bringing in new audiences to the network ... the movie buffs. I don't think they could do that with Toonami.
Not exactly. The movies which air on Action Flicks are basically the same sort of movies that previously aired on Toonami: features based on popular action franchises like Naruto and DC and Marvel Comics.
CN isn't interested in attracting movie buffs so much as they're interested in attracting kids 13 and under. That's their target demographic. So they're not really bringing in a new audience with their movies; they're just trying to keep their current audience from tuning out.

The only real problem with Action Flicks as I see it is that AF seems to have entered a mobius strip where they're constantly rerunning the same movies. Why not run Titan A.E. or The Secret of NIMH or even Heavy Metal (just kidding about that last one)?
How about the Pokemon movies and several of the DCAU/Marvel DTVs? They could easily get a lot of mileage out of that.
