There is something about this show that makes me watch it week after week, I don't know what it is.....
The art is vibrant and colorful, the character designs aren't bad and todays episode (12/27/08) was pretty darn good and the more episodes like this they do the better. The episodes they make of the kids playing against eachother are boring and repetitive but the episodes when they are fighting evil and going on adventures are pleasent and fun, I wish it was an adventure tale week in and week out because this episode today was so fun to watch.

I watch it from time to time, but the rules just make me want to hurl. The game's so "you do this, and I can do this", and you can see it coming from a mile away. It also seems like a normal "Beybladish" anime, but with more confusing rules. The plot isn't really ground breaking, nor are the characters. So all in all, it's all right, but it'll never win the Most Original Anime Award.
The show is pretty meh to me. The story and game is terribly generic and the awful dub kills any interest I originally had in this show.

I'm really not a fan of this show, the characters are generic, the animation is sub-par, and Nelvana's choices for voice actors don't really make the show any better. There's no real reason for me to watch the show besides it being pretty good MST-ing material.

MST-ing material? Thats a new term for me, what does it mean??
Making fun of a show while it's playing, like in Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Hm, guess that makes sense, anyways, I guess there's no reason for me to post on this thread anymore since I already stated my opinion. Alrighty Then!

For some odd reason, every 8-year old (including my brother) is obsessed with anything to do with Bakugan. Everytime he goes to Target, Bakugan are sold out. I personally don't find it appealing, and don't care much for the show.

The series, overall, is pretty hit-or-miss. I either find an episode enjoyable or just plain awful. And there's no real pattern to it.

If I'm in the mood for brain-dead action and want to make fun of something/call out a logical fallacy, I'll watch it (why the heck does Dan's mom look so young? Why would kids make a game out of cards falling from the sky? Why doesn't anyone over the age of 12 not notice cards falling from the sky? Why does episode 1 act like episode 13? Why do the monsters become marbles in our universe? Why the heck did Nelvana not hire Ocean Westwood or even Blue Water for the dub?).

Yeah, Nelvana's dub kinda killed the show for me, and this is coming from a guy who has a pretty high tolerance for "bad" dubs. The show itself seems decent enough, I suppose.
But the kids love it, so what can you do?

Yeah I totally agree with what you said. Its not the best anime or the most original but it has enough good to make me tune in every week. I know people hate the dub but the dub was actually one of the selling points for me. None of the voice actors are going to win any awards but the campy way they deliver some of the comedic dialogue manages to get a chuckle out of me every now and then. The main chacters arent half bad but I wish they recieved more depth and development. And some of the bgm is fairly decent. Also, the twist with Alice being Masquerade was pretty cool because I didnt see it coming.
Bakugan isnt a show I would get on dvd or watch for a second time but when the episodes arent dull it can be a nice way to kill 30 minutes. I'm looking forward to the second season and the movie. Hopefully their a step up in quality.

I tried watching Bakugan, but it was MUCH worse than Beyblade, B-Daman, or Idaten Jump - no offense.

I find the show pretty decent to watch. It has a kind of Beyblade meets Digimon vibe to it, but I go with it. The early episodes gave me a headache since it never made sense. In fact, I still can barely understand the rules of the game. The plot is somewhat interesting and some of the characters are okay, but not really ground breaking. Overall, it's one of those shows that I would watch just for the fun of it. I have been watching new episodes on Saturdays for awhile, but that will change next week since Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is on at that time.
I am surprised that it apparently is that popular with the kids. At first, I thought that it would reach some where around Beyblade level of popularity, but I guess that's not the case. Well, live and let live and just let people enjoy it. Just because some of us don't find the game appealling doesn't mean that no one else does.

I agree that the rules were very confusing and didn't make sense. That turned me away alot. I also notice that whenever I go to Wall-Mart, the Bakugon toys are all sold out. (I bet you that the kids don't even play the game, that just collect the marbles)

I like the episodes that they don't challenge eachother to card fights and the such, it's a lot better when they adventure and fight evil IMO....
It seems to vary week by week as to what kind of episode it is.

I've said it before:
It's not the best thing ever, but it's far from being the worst.
If the kids like it, no big deal. Let them.

What kind of dub names for the characters are there? Jeez.
Danny. Ma-ru-cho? Wtf?

I sometimes see it, I don't even hate it at all, let's just say that in my opinion, some of the cast (especially Scot McCord and Emilie-Claire Barlow, who are in TDI, and the reason why I say this is because it's pretty cool to hear them somewhere else) save it and the designs look good.
But I guess it makes sense for people to hate it, since it's a cliche shonen series is all. But I kinda tune in time to time.

I watch it occasionally... It's... not good or bad.
But Runo's dub voice is a turn-off, as is the dub dialogue...
Also, even after watching episodes from the beginning, I STILL don't understand the rules...

I thought that I would be able to understand them too after a while, like with Yu-Gi-Oh but I guess not.

I agree with the original poster, the later episodes when they fight Naga and his minions directly are more intesting than the other episodes in which they play the game, because I don't understood their point system.
The Japanese version is better, it has some okay music in the original.
Though personally I compare the two shows because they debuted on Cartoon Network together, I think it is not nearly as good as Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon is way better.

I tend to do that with a lot of anime, even the good ones.
Yeah, Bakugan Battle Brawlers is just your everyday generic Creature Controller. Mix Master was more tolerable.

Masquerade being Alice was a great twist, though I think it would have been more emotional though admitly less of a twist if Masquerade was Alice's brother, and later sacrificed his life in a selfless act, and gave Alice his Bakugan as he is dying.

Okay let me clear it up, this is strictly my idea, not canon at all.
Masquerade turns out to be Alice's long lost brother. Later he selfless puts himself in harms way of an attack by one of Naga's minions, and ends up dying. As he is dying, he gives Alice his Bakugan.

Alice is actually Masquerade, which explains why she goes on long periods of absence, why she's weak and faint all the time, and how the bad guys get information about the Brawlers' location and plans. She just wears a magic visor that give her new clothes, changes her hairstyle and color, and deeps her voice.
...I'm serious.

That does sound like a nice idea and I think that it could have been a better twist, depending on how it would be handled in the series. It actually reminds me of a storyline in a KIBA that I saw a few weeks ago with the princess and her father, though not exactly like the way you presented your idea here.

I may have given away a couple of spoilers. Something that is in my idea, does happen later.
Which twist is better, Alice being Masquerade, or the Blue Dragon final villain twist?

I think you can watch the latest episode on CN Video.

Anyway, I totally agree with you. I haven't seen much of Beyblade myself though. The game is very complicated, and it had a slow start, but I enjoy the story now.

Thos Saturday and next Saturday I am goingnto give Bakugan it's final chance to wow me with adventure based stories and not playing card battles against eachother, if it fails I will give up on the show, if it passes I'll stay on with it and if it continues to impress I'll buy the DVDs.

This weeks brand new Bakugan (1/3/08) is off to a great action packed start and continuing last weeks story. I like this format as they are fighting evil and following a story instead of card battling eachother....
Keep it up Bakugan....

I watched today's episode, and I can't believe it. Jenny or Jeawl, whoever is the purple haired one is voiced by Megan Fahlenbock (or at least someone with the exact same voice), the voice of Gwen on TDI and Jen on 6teen. The show is dubbed by a canadian company, so it is not surprisely.
One thing for Gwen and Jen to be played by the same person, but Jenny and Jeawl two pop stars, are defentely the anti Gwen. The same voice can be used to play such different types of people.

The show gets better when the top brawlers start showing up (and Marucho loses Preyas), from there stuff actually happens (like the trip to the Bakugan afterlife). Its still run the mill but its good run the mill.
The game's not that hard to understand.
