You must have heard of this? boxing day is an atempt at creating another black friday, an atempt at "stimulating" the economy.

I was under the impression that Boxing Day was an old tradition in a number of countries...

Gah, please don't encourage it.
I work at Wal-Mart, and I have a 4-9 shift tomorrow. I just hope it's not as crazy as Black Friday was.

I'll be going out tomorrow. I have a couple of gifts to exchange and am curious about the deals, but I don't have my hopes set too high. From what I hear, the deals are supposed to be good but the selection not so much, so we'll see.

isnt boxing day primarily in Canada? Or am I just not very knowledgable about the subject?
I've seen no good deals specifically for 26th and the 27th

Around here the return lines are always crazy on the 26th. I don't think we'll get to the store until saturday or sunday. I hope there's still stuff left.

It's in Canada and the UK mostly.
And there are plenty of after-Christmas deals this year, many of them at rock-bottom prices.

You'd think after what happened at the Walmart in New York, nobody would want another Black Friday...
I really need more cold medicine, but because of the long lines and the nasty snow storm I'm getting, I'm not even gonna bother. I might even be getting some more road closures, so it isn't gonna matter.

Boxing Day is a bank holiday or a public holiday in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, countries in the Commonwealth of Nations with a mainly Christian population, and parts of the United States of America.[citation needed] In South Africa this public holiday is now known as the Day of Goodwill. It is based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society. Contemporary Boxing Day in many countries is for many a "shopping holiday" associated with post-Christmas sales
and early starts to 'January sales'.

Went to the mall yesterday with a friend, totally forgetting how crowded it was going to be. We barely found a parking spot (this was only after racing some old lady into it), waited in some massively long lines, maybe for at least 30 minutes in one, and while the sales were pretty good- alot of it wasn't worth it. (Especially Target which was just a mess) Plus in a few stores the selection was limited.
I did however walk away with a couple of things so I can't really complain too much.

Meh.
There were really no deals to be had around here, and what's worst is that we woke up fairly early. We should've stayed sleep.
Anyway, I've managed to get some soaps and lotions from Bath and Body Works -- you can't get any better with 75% off those since they run about ~$9-$11 bucks a pop -- and bought $150 boots for my mom which only came to about ~$35 bucks.
Other than that, the sales weren't worth it.

The U.S. doesn't offically have a boxing day. Sure, there's a lot of people returning and exchanging things but at the same time you get people who just want to chill. I was at the mall yesterday and it was packed but most people were just eating at the restaurants and watching a movie at the theaters.

I went to Target and bought a stocking I've been eyeing for a few weeks at half off. The lines were atrocious, though. It would have helped if they had opened up more registers... you'd think they'd know it would be busy the day after Christmas and schedule more people to work that day *facepalm*

Didn't buy anything, but I did go to the mall yesterday, mainly to go to the movies. The traffic was horrendous, the worst I've ever seen. There were a lot of people, but the stores I browsed didn't have too terrible lines and the movie theatre wasn't as crowded as I thought it'd be.

What about the restaurants? Bet those were packed. When I went to the mall that's what was mostly crowded. And the movie theater, while not packed, had more activity than your average Friday afternoon.

I think that may be due to Christmas being on a Thursday this year. My office was supposed to be open on Friday, but they decided to close so people could go travel and whatnot. I'll bet lots of other companies did the same.
