Code Geass R2 to Take Three-Week Break on Adult Swim
Kim Manning, the programming director of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block, revealed on her online boards that the Code Geass:Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 anime series on hiatus for the three week holiday weekends. The 6th episode ran last weekend, but Bandai Entertainment will not deliver the next new episode until January 10. In the meantime, Adult Swim plans to run repeats of favorite episodes. The anime sequel premiered on the network on November 2, right after the first Code Geass series ended its run.
Thank you Starks for the news tip.
Well, can't really blame Kim on this one, considering Bandai won't give them the episodes.

Jeez, after the trouble that Bandai went through to get Code Geass in a viewable time slot, they're not even sending the episodes on time?

Hasn't Bandai been cutting back in some areas? It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have episodes dubbed yet...
Man, I may not be a Geass fan, but this show is getting some horrible treatment.

Oh well. They should run the Mao arc from season one again.

I hope one of the favorite episodes they air is last week's since I did not get a chance to see it.

So we are not gonna find out what Zero gonna do about Nunally until next year? Well that sucks.
I wish they show another new episode of Bleach instead of showing reruns of CG. That way we get to the canon stuff faster.

This actually couldn't have come at a better time for me personally; I won't feasibly be able to watch R2 online while at my parents' house during the holidays, due to a slower connection, and I'd hate to miss an episode while I'm gone. Good timing, Bandai.

Ok, this may be a bit behind the times, but after looking at both the AS schedual online, and even TVGuide.com, both say the same thing, both Bleach and CG are new this weekend, for the next few weeks, and with no breaks.
Of course, it also says that Moribito is supposed to be new on the TV Guide site, but there was no (P) on the AS schedual. Going to go and check episode number verses name to see if anything matches up.
Anyway, since I found these, can we get someone to confirm one or the other??? I know there is an article in the TC post, but it is still on the AS schedual.

This is breaking news, give WS a little time to update their schedule.

You wouldn't have missed any episodes regardless considering ASV is keeping full episodes online permanently.

So that's why [AS] stopped giving anime the crap treatment, they got someone else to do it for them.
Seems like Bandai regrets airing Geass on Adult Swim more every day. Look, it's not like too many people were watching anyway, and the last few weeks of the year are uber-slow for TV. With that in mind, the break is understanable, if not applauded.

Oh, they just made that update. Did you mean the Adult Swim front page? Maybe that wasn't, but the Adult Swim Video front page was updated when I posted that.

That was cool of Kim Manners to do that. She could have just opted to put on her favorite or defaulted to something but she put it to the board posters and thereby showed that Adult Swim can be cool to their fans.

What would have been even cooler is for them to NOT take a break at all AND air episode 7 tomorrow (Sunday) early morning at 2:00 A.M.
But since that isn't gonna happen, I'm gonna go and cry in a corner now :( :crying:.

What were they supposed to do? It's not like they could hold Bandai at gunpoint and force them to give AS the episodes.
Hey, it could have been worse. They could have aired Assy McGee in CG's absence.

You do have a good point there, *shudders in fear at the mere mentioning of Assy McGee* :ack:.
You know, I am surprised they didn't bring in comedy to replace it.

This is actually a smart move by BANDAI solely because these next three weeks have a lot of people on vacation with Christmas and New Years traveling going on. Also, the Saturdays before Christmas and New Years have traditionally been the lowest rated [adult swim] shows in the year, hence why they've aired movies there instead.

I do see your post/logic, but still, I'll go crazy without NEW Code Geass (R2).

Oh, so that's what happened. I was surprised when there wasn't a new episode on my TiVo this weekend. I thought something had been fouled up. I'm glad I didn't miss anything! I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks for a new episode, so long as the show is not cancelled.
I will say that broadcasts on Adult Swim in general are some of the most unreliable stuff on cable these days. If the schedules not fouled up then there are gaffs in the episode broadcasts themselves; lines, digital artifacts, loss of signal, etc. I'm sure it's not from my end because I don't have these problems on other channels. Frisky Dingo and Death Note are two of the worst offenders though I don't watch many other shows so the problems could be just as bad with other shows on Adult Swim, too.

Adult Swim will NEVER cancel Code Geass R2, it's like the most popular anime series that airs on AS, after Bleach of course ^_^.
Although, with Bleach being filler right now, Code Geass R2 is probably #1 at the moment.

Code Geass gets abysmal (I like that word :p) ratings. Even Moribito which is a very slow show gets higher ratings. :ack:

Both of them aren't exactly getting high ratings though, even considering Moribito airs immediately before Geass and thus more of the Bleach audience is likely to spill over.

You can't use ratings to justify either since both crashed and burned by ASA standards. Really, except for Bleach, that's been the story all year. Moribito loses most of Bleach's audience and Geass loses even more. It's the law of diminishing returns.

I guess you're pretty much right in the end, though I wasn't really arguing otherwise. If anything, airing these shows does a lot more for Media Blasters and Bandai than it will ever do for [as]. Not that I mind, personally, since both are good enough in my book.

Great news, everyone! Sunrise has just indicated a possibility of more CG (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-12-25/sunrise-indicates-possibility-of-more-code-geass).
