Who thought that this was the weridest cartoon Popeye ever did.
I mean, anything that was said, happened.
Olive's eyes became pools, and then at the end, when she tells Popeye she feels like butter in his hands, she literally melts into a puddle of butter with a smiling face that flows down the floor to end the cartoon.
Does anyone feel that this was very unusaul Popeye short.
And what were your thoughts about it?

In this short, Bluto shaves his beard. I thought it was interesting. It's certainly one of my favorite popeye shorts.

Yes he does, but Bluto has been beardless several times before this short came out (ever seen The Clean Shaven Man (1936)?). This short is also close to the end of the line for the Popeye theatricals ('56? '57?). It is nice to see how there has been much improvement on the Popeye series since the original 1933 pilot.

The theatrical cartoons ended in 1957, this cartoon is from 1956. I like this cartoon due to its unique take on the Popeye/Bluto rivalry. It also has that 1950's suburban feel to it.

Given the dates, sounds like it was inspired by Avery's "Symphony in Slang".
