CN has a boatload of anime they won't air, including DICE, which only aired for a couple months many years ago.

Sketch

Anime they own the rights to and aren't currently playing...

Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo
Dragonball Z
Dragonball GT (maybe?)
One Piece
The Prince of Tennis
Blue Dragon
MAR
Zatch Bell
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
DICE

Seems they finaly lost Rave Master after several years.

And they also have IGPX since they co-produced it but I don't see it on there show list anymore.

As for Adult Swim

FLCL
The Big O
Blood+
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell: SAC + 2nd Gig
Astroboy
Death Note

I think that's all of them

Sketch pretty much named all of the anime, but outside of that, CN has the rights to almost all of the Hanna-Barbera library (excluding like 2 shows), almost all of the MGM library, and all of the pre-1948 Looney Tunes shorts. And those aren't licensed to them, those they own, no expiring contracts or nothing, it's almost as if they're their own characters.

Shows I'm sure CN still has the licensing to though are probably

Storm Hawks
Atomic Betty
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
The Batman

I'm not sure what else, I don't keep track of this stuff too much.

What Hanna-Barbara shows don't they have the rights to?

Just some extremely obscure shows, nothing anyone really remembers:

Laurel and Hardy
Jeannie
The Further Adventures of SuperTed

I think Harlem Globetrotters might be one of them too, but I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure they lost TMNT 2003

but... along with those they have

Team Galaxy
Totally Spies
Xiaolin Showdown
Dragon Hunters
Teen Titans
Justice League / JLU
Batman Beyond (maybe?)
Static Shock
Code LYOKO

And probably some others I'm forgetting about.

I think they might've lost Batman Beyond, they haven't aired it in more than 5 years.

Storm Hawks is a definite since it's currently airing on Toonami Jetstream and The Batman is a definite since they aired an episode of it last Saturday. CN originally acquired Legion of Superheroes to air after Kids' WB! aired the first 13 episodes, but they have never aired it. Almost all CN Originals that currently aren't on the network should also be included. You could also throw in Zixx (which may or may not have expired now). Finally, one Sketch didn't mention but is the case for is almost all Poke'Mon series/ seasons, since they currently only air Battle Frontier and D&P Battle Dimension.

As far as Ninja Turtles, like Sketch said the license probably has expired, and I wouldn't be surprised if they no longer have Atomic Betty either.

A lot of anime. That's for sure. And they'll probably avoid it even more after reading my previous sig, just to make me and all the other real anime fans mad and watch Sci-Fi even more.

so far off of sci-fi, I've DVD-recorded

Dead Leaves
Strait Jacket

I've only recently started preserving what I see on sci-fi. And I tape Pokemon too, since that ones pretty reliable in getting airtime.

Also, CN should really start playing Storm Hawks and Blue Dragon in regular rotation, along with Bo bo bo, Kiba, and MAR (in case they're reading my posts at some point, and I suspect they do)

CN doesn't need to license these. They own all originals. They are their characters and always will be unless Time Warner sells Turner. They can air any original whenever they please.

Even then, they'd still own them.

They would still own them. And if Turner sells CN, then they STILL own them.

Just out of curiosity, pierre3000, are there any shows that are currently running on Cartoon Network that you enjoy? There's nothing wrong with a little nostalgic fondness, but you can't live in the past. If you're waiting for CN to one day re-air all of it's canceled/ended shows, you're in for a long wait. A lot these shows are off of the network for good. That's just something that you're going to have to accept.

Yeah, I doubt they still own any of those, aside from the Cartoon Cartoons.

Thundercats- CN probably doesn't have the rights to anymore. Also, no rush to put Thundercats back on TV, since the series is available on DVD.
Jonny Quest- Is a possibility, although the 1st series has since moved to Boomerang, and CN isn't interested in bringing back the "classics". Plus, I don't think that Real Adventures of... did so hot rating-wise. It wasn't on CN's schedule for very long, as I recall.
Swat Kats- Is currently airing on Boomerang. Swat Kats only had about 23 completed episodes, and with no new episodes in the works, it's doubtful that CN would want it back.
Silverhawks/Galaxy Rangers/The Mask:TAS- Never aired on CN.
Tigersharks- was never it's own show; it was just 1 segment of Rankin-Bass' The Comic Strip, which hasn't aired anywhere since it's original run. Also never aired on CN.

Well, Cartoon Network doesn't need to have rights for either Jonny Quest or SWAT Kats, they OWN both (Real Adventures too). CN basically is Hanna-Barbera only with some different people and confined to one network and maybe not as dominant as H-B was. I know you weren't saying that they didn't have those rights, I just wanted to point it out.

Turner bought Thundercats so yes they do have it and that's why Warner was able to release it on DVD. They also own a slice of GI-Joe due one of Ted Turner's whims.

Real Adventures probably did very well for a time. Toonami use to play it relentlessly before they got the likes of Dragonball Z.

Silverhawks has aired on CN. I remember it being on before Toonami(back when the block was on weekdays).
