Now that's using a PG rating to the fullest. Keep it up, CN...that's the Cartoon Network I know and love.

It's TV-PG-V and it's STAR WARS, If Lucas wants the clones to say "hell", then they'll say hell. And the rating is right for it.

Then I expect all that in Star Wars and other shows...if Cartoon Network starts making TV-PG originals.

I guess its time for...

YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON CARTOON NETWORK!

- "The hell was that?"

- "Like hell he did."

- Another "hell"

TOTAL OFFENSES: 3 (one type)
OFFENSE METER: Low. The Clones may curse, but it sure ain't TDI or IGPX-level material here.

And as an added bonus, the peep hole scene from Dude Of The Living Dead.

Wow, CN has really been getting mature in the last couple of months.

And I second the production of an original CN TV-PG comedy.

Guess you probably didn't since these upgraded clones were a lot more serious...

You know, I hope the Republic doesn't win in every episode. It'd be a lot more interesting if we saw them lose a few battles, too.

I thought the same thing last week. I've really liked the show so far, but it's getting kind of repetitive to see the bad guys fail every week.

I can forgive it this week because this episode was freaking awesome. Story, characters, and action were all top notch. Very exciting. Focusing on the clones was a great change of pace, and it was more exciting not knowing for sure who would live and who would die. They did a great job of making the clones sound like real soldiers, with their slang and their nicknames and their mild swear words.

Expanded Universe alert! Did my ears deceive me, or did they reference the Battle of Jabiim from the "Republic" comics? I'll have to rewind and check to make sure.

Anyway, this is probably my favorite episode yet.... but then, I'm biased towards the clones. This episode had all of those nice litle touches I always expect from clone-related stories, such as the one trooper being named "Fives" because there were so many 5's in his I.D. number. (Little bit of EU trivia: It was Anakin, at the end of the Jabiim arc, who suggested giving the troopers names because "in the middle of battle, '1456724' doesn't always come right to mind.").

Uncle George has got the money and the influence, and if he wants somebody to say "hell" in an episode, he's going to get his way.

Cursing doesn't make something mature or grown up. Themes do, not language. Just sayin'.

ImFromTheMoon

I agree 100% that curse words don't make something mature. Just look at South Park for example. Every other word is a curse word, but the humor doesn't have a whole lot of appeal for anybody older than 16. (Don't kill me.)

Still, little things like a mild swear and an on-screen death here and there can really add to the "feel" of the show. It helps us as an audience buy into the idea that these guys are soldiers at war. At least, that's how I felt. I totally bought it. This episode was slightly grittier than anything I remember in the Star Wars movies.

Even though I didn't see the episode I completely agree with this. But jumping up and down all excited because CN is doing something "mature" is kind of the wrong sentiment here. Again, cursing in and of itself doesn't make something mature.

That's the advantage to producing a show independently, I guess. Rather than have a suit from the network breathing down your neck during the whole production, telling you what you're not allowed to do, they just produce the entire show and then give the networks the option of either airing it or not.

Okay, upon watching this episode again, the earlier battle that Rex and Cody referred to was Tibrin rather than Jabiim. So very close. It would have made my day if they had actually referenced an EU story. :)

There's a lot in the books. For example, a Larty is a Republic Gunship. And that's not even including Mando'a, which I wish they were using in the show.

Haven't seen this episode yet, but an All-Clone episode promises to be better than the last four episodes of... crap.

A lot of talk here about one particular word being spoken, and not enough talk about the boredom of it being a clone-based episode. I'm hoping there's not too many episodes based around the clones without any Jedi or anyone else being featured in the episode.

Jacob T. Paschal
10-25-2008, 07:48 PM
How anybody could call this a boring episode I haven't a clue. The Clones have really good chemistry with each other and their 'cool' movements--like Cody killing the droid in disguise--really harken back to Han Solo's shooting first.

Raidon Makoto
10-25-2008, 10:18 PM
Personally, I hope there are more Clone-Only episodes. Mainly, because all of the Anakin/Obi-Wan centric episodes are mucking up the EU, and secondly because I'm a Clone fan.

R-Taco
10-26-2008, 01:22 AM
Much better than the last few episodes. Surprised there wasn't more mentioning of those Droid Commandos, since they actually came across as a genuine threat...until they died.

I too hope for more clone-centric episodes. The Jedi-centered ones don't even try to hide the fact that the satus quo is God.

Good episode. As I've said before, I'm glad they're doing all-clone stories, rather than focusing on the same di'kutla Jedi every time. This one felt reletively realistic, with several characters being killed on screen, and the "hells" thrown in. Here's hoping for more.

However, two things I'm getting tired of: excessive battle droid Stormtrooper Syndrome (like missing Hevy for several seconds at point-blank range in a cramped hallway) and Greivous being chased off by a Republic Navy cavalry at the end of every story. Let's see the Seps given a little credit, for a change. Also, let's see some Geonosis-esque large-scale ground battles, with some good focus given to the ground vehicles (TX-130s, the various AT- models, homing spider droids, etc.) A story told from the POV of a Republic tank/walker crew could be interesting.

Not bad. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but I like scifi so I gave this a shot. The language is one thing but wow, they actually let some good guys get killed, too. I still don't care for the fact that the bad guys (robots) can't hit anything, which is the main reason why I'm not a bigger Star Wars fan in general. The bad guys are lousy shots in every Star Wars show or movie.

The visuals of the show are great but I kind of miss the old Clone Wars art, especially for the clone-troopers. The action in this episode was good but still couldn't match up to the first Clone Wars show on Cartoon Network.

It was said twice. "Like @#&% you will!" was also said in the episode. In the first episode, I could have sworn I heard a battle droid say the f word! This was a great episode, best so far. The end was very sad, and for the first time in this show, the writing was excellent.

:D Man, that was freakin awsome! i was watchin the episode w/ my brothers, and the giant eel snagged Cutup, and then he said: "what the hell was that!?" it was so unexpected, we cracked up, i laughed pretty hard, and i think we rewinded it--cuz y'know those dvr things--and heard it again, it was hilarious, and freakin awsome. the second time they said it wasnt really nessesary, but funny nontheless. i watched it when it came on tv again, and they took out the cussword! and my mom erased the episode from when it originally aired! oh well, i guess i can find it on youtube or whatever. you know, i have a new respect for clones ever since i learned they had actual personalities and Rex is pretty cool in combat. actually, the clones are kinda hot, but whatever :D
