While the television animation business has been pretty "bleh" in the last few years, Cartoon Network is beginning to change that with more projects (including their TV movies).
The network is going to be building on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. With Thursday comedy and Friday action, the ratings have increased a lot, with more shows on the way.
McCracken and Renzetti have taken hundreds of pitches, and have so far greenlighted sixteen shorts for production. Short series orders will be made of the ones that become the most promising.
They still aren't where they would like to be in the ratings.

Hmmm... I wonder if this means that not all of the Cartoonstitute shorts will be shown on TV.

Technically, those pitches are just presentations to convince the network to greenlight a show. You're not missing anything, they're not actually being produced.

I know, but the article said that they have greenlit 16 shorts that will make animatics, and that the best of those animatics will become shorts. I don't know, I'm hoping I'm wrong.

I thought that Cartoonstitute would air on TV, similar to What a Cartoon.

All 16 will air on TV, the article says that the most promising will get a series order, just like Dexter and PPG from the original WAC.

Yay! It'll be fun to root for a series.

Ok, I guess I just read wrong. I thought that how it was going to happen was that the pilots would be made first, and only the pilots that are made will be shown on TV and only the best of the pilots shown on TV will become series. I'll be glad if this is just like WAC! or hey, maybe even better. :ack: CN needs some more good series, the studio is doing a lot less work than it has been in previous years, there are only four series being produced currently (Chowder, Flapjack, Alien Force, and Transformers).
