Ash, Brock and Dawn continue their adventures through the land of Sinnoh, meeting some brand new Pokémon, rivals, and challenges along the way!

Recently:
The Wallace Cup has finally come to an end.
Our heroes got a chance to meet back up with May.
May has changed a lot since the last time we saw her. She has a Wartortle, a Venusaur, and a Glaceon.
Ash lost in the second battle round and Zoey lost in the semi-finals to May.
In the End Dawn was able to just barely beat May and with the Wallace Cup!
4
Last Time:
“Strategy With a Smile!”
It’s the final episode of the Wallace Cup. Dawn defeats Kite, who beat Ash in the round before. And May is able to top Zoey in the semi-finals. And so the finals is down to May and Dawn. After a very long and exhausting battle, Dawn is just able to edge off May and win the Wallace Cup.

This Time:
“Thief that Keeps on Thieving!”
Saturday, October 18th @ 9:30am
Back to what we would consider a standard episode. And Team Rocket is back to they’re old steeling ways…. sort of. And Keep in mind that last time Jessie said she wanted to catch new pokemon.

Notes:
The Wallace Cup is over, and we will all miss May.
There is no more encore episode because Secret Saturday s now has that time slot.
And supposedly May’s Glaceon knows 6 moves, Ice Beam, Ice Shard, Secret Power, Mirror Coat, Iron Tail, and Shadow Ball.

This was one of those times, I couldn't help but root for Team Rocket. I have know them and watch their highs and lows for 10 years, oppose to Tylor who I just meet and will probably never see again.
I do feel bad for our TR trio, they are so dellutional, Giovanni will never openly thank them for anything and tell them they did a good job. Their dreams of that will never happen, no matter how many Pokemon they catch.

A bit off-topic, but still Pokemon related.
The Pokemon Ranger episodes are scheduled to air November 8th and 15th in the usual D/P timeslot.
No one hour event or encore/repeat airings, so I guess they're just treating them as two regular episodes.

Hooray! Even though they are treating it as two separate episodes, I'm just glad to hear that they're going to have the Pokemon Ranger special around the time when the new games comes out, instead of what they did with the new Mystery Dungeon game. Plus, there's a Pokemon on that special that I really want to see make a debut in the anime series.
As for this episode, I really enjoyed it. It was kind of nice to see Ash and his friends help out Tylor like that. They all understood how hard it is to catch your first Pokemon, even though Ash didn't have much of a challenge with Caterpie. Still, it was nice to see them remember the times they had with their rookie days. I was somewhat surprised that he had a Piplup. Another Piplup is exactly what this show needs. That was sacastim by the way. I laughed so hard when he called his Piplup Pippy. That was one of the lamest nicknames I've ever heard of for a Pokemon. I really don't nickname my Pokemon since I'm bad with names in the first place and I can only think of lame, genertic names.
Anyway, I was kind of surprised that Team Rocket came in there and caught the Yanma themselves. I didn't see that coming. Seeing Delibird again after awhile was a surprised too. I loved seeing how happy Jessie, James and Meowth were with being able to send their boss a gift. I think this was one of the few times when Team Rocket actually kind of won something. It seemed like Giovanni didn't quite remember who they were when he got the package. I think he sent it back because he already had a large group of Yanma from another group of members.
While they were dellutional with how Giovanni wanted to thank them by giving them back their gift to them, I couldn't help but feel happy for them. Sure, their boss isn't quite what they picture him as, but it makes them feel happy and important to think that way. Besides that, it was an already strong Yanma so it would be more useful to them anyway.
I liked how Tylor kept on fighting another Yanma, but Team Rocket interrupted him yet again. I wasn't sure why they were going for another Yanma, but it's their job. I was also surprised that Yanma evolved into a Yanmega already. I knew that if Jessie got a Pokemon like Yanma, it was going to evolve, but I thought that it would be in a couple of episodes. I also mixed up with how Yanma evolves with how Gilgar evolved since I thought Yanma needed a hold item, instead of just learning Ancient Power. I do admit that its Sonic Boom was a lot stronger as a Yanmega. Ash even had a bit of a challenge with it. Of course, they do end up blasting off again, but I did feel happier for them since they got a new Pokemon on their side.
At least Tylor was finally able to catch a Yanma like he wanted to. That too a lot of time and effort, maybe more than it actually should have. Now Ash and his friends are on their way to the next gym.
Overall, this was a fine episode. I don't mind these kinds of episodes where Ash and his friends help out another trainer, but Team Rocket having some more focus was a welcome bonus. I think that Yanmega will fit nicely with Jessie's team. After having Dustox for so long, it felt weird for her not to have a Bug type with her. With some work, I could see her Yanmega doing well in her next Contest. I definitely was rooting for Team Rocket here as well. I'm definitely looking foreword to the new episode next week.

Sweet. Maybe it'll add to the suspence. :p
And are you talking about.... Riolu? Beucase I'm looking forward to that too.
This episode was actually pretty good. "Since when did Team Rocket get good" - I almost said that at the same time Dawn did... it is kinda werid. I was actually glad that Team Rocket wasn't so pathetic. They actually used a pokeball... but of course they did kind of steal it away from Tylor. And the think about that was that Ash could get it back becuase the pokeball has already been used.
Giovanni?! I was really suprised to see him. That little gadget he had that linked to the pokeball was quite something. But he sent it back. Yamma knew Ancient Power. You'd think that Giovanni would have kept it since it would appear that particular Yamma must have been at a relativly high level. But he sent it back, but more power to Jessie. Maybe when she uses it in a contest... well maybe Dawn might start to make the conection between Jessie and Jessilina.
And Team Rocket tried to catch/steal another Yamma from Tylor. That was unexpected. That would be something a more high quality villian might do. They kept the pressure on Ash and Tylor. They truly made their lives diffucult today. And Yamma evolving was the biggest suprise yet. And that Sonicboom just took a step up in intensity. So did Team Rocket actually beat Ash? If so it didn't last long, but you gotta give Team Rocket props in this episode. This was a win for them in many ways. Everything just worked. No big robots, no complated plans, just show up, steal a pokemon, and leave.
Tylor did a great job catching Yamma, but that wasn't really the point of this episode. It was the only feel good moment the good guys had today, becuase Team Rocket was the true winners here.
And it seems that everytime we see a trainer have the same pokemon as one of the main characters, it always has a nickname. Pippy... well it's simple. But don't trainers like that give nicknames to all their pokemon. If so Tylor should have given Yamma a nickname. Otherwise just one of his pokemon has a nickname and the rest don't, and I just think that's inconsistant. Sparky was the nicknamed Pikachu, but the rest of Richie's pokemon had nicknames too to offset the fact that both Ash and Richie have a Pikachu.
This was a great episode that suprised me in many ways. Hopefully Team Rocket does more of that in the future.

This episode had the basic plot of "Ash helping a kid with his problems" that we're so used to in this show, but there were a lot of extra things in the ep to prevent it from being dull.
I loved seeing Giovanni again, its kinda sad that we barely see anything of him anymore, (outside of Meowth's fantasies, which don't really count), and was that his original voice?
Jessie capturing Yanma was cool, that is how they should always do things, just throw a Pokeball and stop playing games so they wouldn't keep losing all the time.
My only problem is that kid had to have Piplup? We get enough Piplup from Dawn, seeing another Piplup was pointless.

When the scene is in Giovanni's office, it is much more sinister and evil than we are use to. It reminds you of how bad the Team Rocket organisation really is.
Normally we just see three members who are for the most part harmless, and we have gotten to know them, see their highs and lows, they are part of the gang. Jessie, James, and Meowth don't give me any fears, but Giovanni does.

If you were referring to what I said earlier, then yes. That's what I'm looking foreword the most out of that special. I bet that's a surprise coming from me.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you that this episode had Team Rocket as the winners in many ways. I liked that since after seeing them fail for years and years, it was nice to see them win something big like this for once. I doubt that Dawn will see the similarities between Jessie and Jesslina because its like an on-running gag that Ash and his friends can't see that its Team Rocket in disguise. It would be interesting as to what would happen if she did find out that they're the same person though. It would be nice to see them just simply show up, steal a Pokemon and then leave, but then that would be too easy and they have to be their usual comedy relief villains anyway. Still, I certianly wouldn't mind it if stuff like this happens with Team Rocket more often in the future.
The nickname thing is interesting. Tylor might name his Yanma later, but it wasn't that important anyway. I'm not sure if all trainers who nickname one Pokemon have all of their Pokemon nickname. Outside of a couple of filler characters from Johto, the only trainer I can think of with nicknamed Pokemon is Ritche, but that was also to help separate their two Pikachu.

It took me a second, but I do believe that Giovanni's original voice actor, Ted Lewis, was voicing him again in his brief scene. Like I said, it would be great if they could just do what they did with Yanma all the time, but that would might rob them of their comic relief status. Still, I would like to see more of that in the future. I totally agree with you about Tylor having a Piplup. Dawn's Piplup already hogs the spotlight, no Contest pun intended, from her other Pokemon and she has it out of its Pokeball without having to battle in nearly every episode lately. That's why I scarasitcally mentioned how this show needed another Piplup. ;) Personally, I would have rather seen a Johto starter, even though that might not have worked out considering they're promoting the D/P games and his a new trainer in Sinnoh, not Johto. Chimchar would have been a better choice out of the D/P starters since its my favorite and it would have been cute to see Ash's Chimchar playing with another one too.

Oh yeah. I forgot about movie characters since I was just thinking of characters in the series. Interestingly enough, they only nicknamed their starters, while not naming the rest of their Pokemon apparently.
