Well, I think it's awful. Do you think they air anything good?

Hopefully, maybe they will air Zim, or Ren and Stimpy. Heck, maybe they will play some classic MTV animated serries on late night.

Hmm... Nick? Well.. lets just say that I consider them an analog to the toilet paper sitting in my bathroom right now.

Nick has made some very stupid decisions, but they still air some good shows. Spongebob, Invader Zim, The Fairly Oddparents are on Nick. Serious stuff can be seen with Hey Arnold. So they've done SOME good stuff...

Nick would be a lot better IMO if they could at least take out SlimeTime Live and stop showing all the Klasky-Csuspo junk....but what would I know, having watched that network for all my life?

I hate to say it, but while Nick has turned into a little MTV, it probably won't get any other MTV series other than Ren and Stimpy. Besides, Nick at Night still exists...

Prehaps watered-down corn syrup and food coloring. It's harmless, and if some gets in your mouth, it doesn't taste *too* bad.

I think Nick and Nite is intended to put people to sleep.

I could probably name many shows that are better than Spongebob, but that's only my opinion.

Well....................Invader Zim and Fairly Oddparents, of course!! :D

The Nick Toons channel will be great for those that have satellite, but for cable users let me put it this way:

A. You will have to pay extra for the channel
or
B. You won't even be able to pay extra for the channel, because your cable monopoly won't care to carry it.

Of course, satellite TV is a monopoly as well; Primestar went out of business, and DirecTV, Blockbuster, USSB, and Dish Network merged.

I will only watch it if the lost Angry Beavers episodes air.

If the new channel becomes an outlet for the "lost" eps of Angry Beavers and Zim, as well as the classic Ren and Stimpy episodes (you know, before John K. got canned for, well, being John K.) then I won't mind it one bit.

Honestly, they don't air anything made before the eighties. nNothing against that age of prosperity, but I don't consider a show "classic" if it was made in my own lifetime! That move, as well as the emphasis on bubblegum pop, is a conspiracy to make me feel old....

At least there's TV Land, where Get Smart and Hogan's Heroes, real classics, air. Now if only they'd bring back Mr. Ed....

I think the slime has a gelatin base, myself...corn syrup by itself isn't quite that thick....

Interesting how the classic shows that first aired on Nick at Night used to be from about 30 years ago, then. Now it's crept down to about 15 years. BTW, Cheers, mainly considered an 80's show, lasted until '93.

As to the Nick Toons Channel, does anyone else think (fear) they might move P&TB, A!, and yet to be seen again TTA to there? Poit.

In my opinion They might as well put on "Watching Paint Dry: LIVE!" instead of all the krud they put on that channel. The only things that are remotely watchable on Nick are SpongeBob, The Fairly Oddparents, The Angry Beavers, Invader Zim, and the occasional Ren & Stimpy cartoon. That's why my motto is "Nick+PAX+UPN=a cure for insomnia".

If's it's just going to be all Nicktoons, then the network has disaster written all over it. Nobody will watch a network with just network-created projects (CN will, no doubt, be paying attention to Nicktoon TV).

But, if they actually acquired shows from their olden days, like the old Saban shows (Maya, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Spartacus), Inspector Gadget, and the Cosgrove-Hall shows (Dangermouse and Count Duckula), went deep into Paramount's classics vaults digging out the old theatricals and the Terrytoons shows, and aired the Hanna-Barbera-produced Paramount sitcom spinoffs, then Nicktoons TV could actually be watchable.

Then again, this is a network that neutered Ren and Stimpy and killed Invader ZIM. Nick isn't quite known for their smarts.

In my opinion some of the things are okay. Like Rugrats.

no... good died out when they dumped "You can't say that on television".

Now it's just lame teenie bopper stuff (but hey--- it's FOR teenie boppers) so why should I complain?

the world's got enough of that teen junk anyway, lol

Not since the days of Mark Summers, Welcome Freshmen, Clarrisa Explains it all, Hey Dude, Salute your Shorts and You can't do that on Television. There show just don't seem good anymore. From what I have seen of Invader Zim, I like that. And the Koala, the Wuuzels or Noozels or somthing, a very unusual cartoon if I remember correctly paticularly that lizzard. There was also another one with animals, also can't rember the name, do remember part of the them song and it ha like a flying squirrle (No, not Mooserama, this was a show for little kids)

Is there a show called AAAHH!! Real Monsters airing on Nick right now? I've always enjoyed it. :)

the koala show was like a japanese show or something like that. It had a girl and she had a Koala toy that became a real live Koala or something. Her father was lost in some twilight zone dimension or something like that.

I loved that koala cartoon. Too bad I hardly remember anything about it :( . I bet you that the new Nicktoon channel will probably turn into a Klasky-Csupo channel. I really just wish they'd show the "good" shows at better times.

^___^ Memories....

The Adventures Of The Little Koala, Belle and Sebastian, Mapletown, Noozles, The Li'l Bits, Daid The Gnome, The Little Prince, Mysterious Cities Of Gold, Spartacus And The Sun Beneath The Sea....

I'd kill to see some of those old toons again back in the days when Nick was actually good :)

Here is a full view on Nick:

What makes them evil:

Rocket Power
Abusing ZIM like it never existed

What makes them worth watching:

The Fairly OddParents
Spongebob Squarepants
Dilly on Rugrats (No offense to those who DON'T like it)

And now, what I would like to see happen to Nick: the Nelvana influence, in which my altime fav. animation studio, Nelvana (of course) (no offense to those still red-in-the-face for the whole CardCaptors incidence) becomes higher than Klasky-Cuspo. If this happens, then...

Frederator, the "Oh, Yeah!" people, working with the studio to continue "The Fairly Oddparents" and "Chalk Zone" after Nick shuts down Nicktoon Studios.
Viacom will take CardCaptors from AOL Time Warner and Medabots from ABC Family Worldwide via Nelvana.
Nick makes some of my ideas for cartoons reality with Nelvana. They include Rakoons (I'll have the series bible up soon) and some show about a teenager who likes to take photos.
Canned CBS 98-00 series coming to Nick

Sorry if you think this is odd, but I'm entitled to my opinion.

I've always preferred the WB element; too bad I didn't get turned back on to cartoons until about a month before the Nick WB package reverted to CN, which means I have precious little of the Speedy & other non-PC toons on tape. (I watched Message To Gracias & The Daffy Duckaroo & DID NOT BOTHER TO TAPE THEM!!! AAAUUURURHGHRRGRUGGHGHGHHH!!! STUPID! STUPID! STUPID ME!) When I see what they've done to P&tB & A!, & when I think that similar treatment is TTA's doom, I weep. Maybe they'll surprise us & revive the BCS concept; hey, that'd be preferable to what they have now.

As to what I like, there's Hey Arnold!, enough said. I must confess, though, I also like Rugrats. It started as an idea to make it not long for this world as I've noticed shows I like don't usually do to well, but I've grown to like it, and more so since they've added Susie, Dil, Kimi, etc. And I can't stop it; I just have to ride this liking as far as it takes me. *shrug*

The idea of a Nicktoons channel appeals to me. I remember when Murdoch made noise about his own cartoon channel Turner said he'd squash him like a bug (wonder if he said the same thing about MTV when he launched The Music Channel). I also remember an idea I came up with for Murdoch, Viacom & any other interested parties to join forces for a cartoon channel which would be the sort of competition Turner & the Mouse need. Non-Popeye Fleischer & Famous toons, Terrytoons, Screen Gems, UPA, Terrytoons, maybe lease rights to Walter Lantz & DePatie-Freleng, possibly Iwerks & Van Beuren, what's not to like? I even had a name for it, Cartoon Land. And bringing in the stuff I saw on Nick in the '80's would be great too; I have fond memories of Spartacus, Danger Mouse, etc. Although I agree that such a channel might turn out to be the exclusive home of the unaired eps of certain shows; there's still several HA! eps as yet unseen in this country although maybe they'll be shown on CBS Saturdays this fall, we'll see.

I don't like it very much anymore. I used to watch it when they aired Looney Tunes and Rocko's Modern Life, and I never really liked Ren and Stimpy too much. I have watched the occasional Pinky and the Brain cartoon on Nick, but I don't like how they've written in their logo on the classic opening titles, and the way they schedule things it's hard to catch what you want to watch. Nick at Night isn't even as good as it used to be (when they ran variety like "Mork and Mindy", Green Acres" "Mister Ed" and "Lassie", as opposed to the same old 'I Love Lucy" shows over and over). I think Nick is a good channel undergoing a bit of a homely phase.

I agree pretty much with all of you. I used to like Nick back during the days of Double Dare, Looney Tunes, and a few Japanese-made fairy tale cartoons on Special Delivery. DD2K was ok but it wasn't the same without Marc. Also, the main reason I enjoyed
Nick was the weird game shows they had: Think Fast, Skip Lackey was a little better than Michael Carrington IMO; Finders Keepers--kids destroying a huge house for cash and prizes, as well as DD. Now, all that's on it is mostly Klasky-Csupo stuff and poor Animaniacs' opening sequence chopped to bits. I liked Nick better in the old days. BTW, if anyone has any video clips of Wesley Eure's version of FK, I'd like to see some of them because I never did. If not I'll understand.

Yes, Nick needs to get back to its roots. That was what made it so popular in the first place, back when it was bubbling with excitement and original stuff.

However, it'd be nice if you post in the corresponding topic....please...^^;;

My tip: Nick Gas, 7-9 AM (Eastern) and 10-12AM (Eastern) If you avoid the stupid Nick-made stuff, you will be able to see some of the classic Game shows. (Double Dare is probably on at other times, though)

Yeah, if you can get it, watch NickGAS. Lot's of old game shows, change the channel when they show "Figure it Out", though. I never liked that show...
The only thing I watch on Nick now is Hey Arnold. And that's even rare, since all they show lately is re-runs. A few new episodes (well, one actually) I know I've missed, but I can't sit through Klasky Csupo mess and wait.

i hated figure it out, it was always like the "celebrety" contestants where told to give out the stupidest answers they could come up with just so the kids could win and feel good about themselves.

give me Marc summers' double dare any day.

Lucky Bob
03-23-2002, 08:55 AM
I might have to disagree there. Figure it Out was a pretty good premise for a game show, if only they didn't have Summer Sanders as a host. (Is she still doing it, BTW?) I've always thought there were better hosts around. But really, Danny, Lori-Beth, and Keenan were always good for a belly laugh or two on the show!

When I first got satellite about 8yrs ago I liked it. I think I watched it almost all day. But, now it is nothing but crap. I think they should get rid of Slime Time Live. The whole slime thing got old about 4 yrs ago. Stop playing the Rugrats, The Wild Thornberries, and Cat Dog every hour. I don't know why they are so popular?!
