I just had this crazy thought. Since the Powerpuff Girls were born with special powers, could they be considered mutants? Also, isn't ironic that the chemical added to the concoction is labled "X"? Just a thought, but imagine if Professor Utonium had to send the girls off to Xavier's school when they get older. That would be kinda neat, but remember, it's just a thought. Blossom would get along quite well with Cyclops & Jean (Notice how Famke Janssen almost looked like Miss Bellum in that senate hearing) Buttercup would be right at home with Wolverine, or Rogue. Bubbles would also get along with Kitty, or Jubilee.

Damn shame they're in the DC universe if any...

There has been @least one episode i recall where Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman were mentioned...the fact that CN is owned by AOLTW as is DC, would really seem to indicate that the gals are DC Heroines, not Marvel. =[

Your absolutely right. I just brought that up as a what if sinerio. The episode you refered to where Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman were mentioned was "Equal Fights" with Femme Fetal.

Strictly speaking, a 'mutant' is a genetically altered organism. The Powerpuff Girls apparently had their whole genetic composition created at once, so would be more accurately described as a whole new species ('Homo powerpuffiens', prehaps.)

Mojo Jojo, on the other hand, does qualify as a mutant. He started life as a normal chimpanzee, until the Chemical X explosion changed him into a huge-brained hyper-intelligent green-skinned one.

Considering the effects on Mojo, one does have to wonder why Professor Utonium was unaffected by the blast. The only explaination I can think of is that the mutating effects of Chemical X only occur on organisms below a certain age.

I wonder if Craig McCraken has any theories?

--nearly all the Bang Babies on Static Shock are teens (except for Ragtag, an elderly man). Possibly hormones come into play--changing bodies more suceptible to radiation (which is why tetragens are so dangerous to fetuses). Surely adults breathed the Bang gas too, but a healthy middle-aged man or woman has yet to show up mutated.
Technically Utonium didn't take the full brunt of the blast--Mojo got grabby and pushed him, taking the radation full-on. That may explain why the Prof escaped mutancy....
