The second episode of the newest anime series to AS airs tonight at 1:30 AM Eastern. The consensus around here seems to be positive towards this series, which is a good thing. Hopefully, the show will continue to get better.

Last time: Balsa plays babysitter to a beleaguered brat with his head on the block.

This seems like a perfect follow-up to Code Geass. A prince who's father is a grade-A ******bag.

"What is this 'piggyback'?" Tee hee.

"Many strange things have been happening in which the prince has nearly drowned.

On top of this, his father is thinking that the prince is possessed by a water demon.

I'm starting to notice a connection here."

*almost falls asleep* Ugh....oh, I'm sorry, if Balsa's not on screen, odds are I'll lost interest. lolz, jk.

Oooh, possessed prince, totally original, kudos to yudos production company.

Wow, he really is possessed.
That explains his Naruto-like predicament.

Trying not to get bored here...

Pretty good episode, if ya ask me-battle-set up. Although, there's something that I want to ask you all.(Well, the guys and gay girls, if any.:anime: ) Am I the only one who thinks Balsa's hot?

Damn, I blinked....now I'll have to wait till next week to see the credits.:(

I didn't get to watch the first episode last week because the power was out, so I was somewhat lost going into this. Though, I think I get the gist of it with the information I gathered from this episode.

Very talky episode, or maybe possibly series, but I didn't get that bored with it. However, I'm gonna have to, as usual, watch a couple of episodes before I get a good feel of the series and how I feel about it.

I like heavy dialogue series (when its not boring), so i like this show alot.

Balsa is sooo hot (sweet), and its surprising to see a protagonist who's primary weapon is a spear, its always a sword, so im interested in seeing what kind of cool stuff she can do with it.

also, the art in this series is just awesome.

sucks how i missed the first episode:(.

I was really bored during the first half of this episode. The king's speech just seemed to drag on forever. I didn't really see the point in his guards covering their eyes when they could still hear everything he was saying.

Anyway, I'm surprised so many people like the character designs on this show, I think they're really ugly. Balsa's lips look too big to me.

Still enjoying the show, though admittedly I wasn't paying as much attention during the long dialogue spiel between the guys. But Balsa continues to be an interesting main character and the prince is actually sucking it up and going on, which is good. And he glowed o.O

Of course the episode has to end with them being chased. Good times :p

I'm surprised at my self that I ended up watching the second episode. Sure I zoned out during all the jib jab, but I'm still amused with Balsa. I honestly have no idea where this show is going to go. *isn't gunna spoil herself....yet*
This late time slot is killing me though. I was about half asleep by the time it came on.

Huh, I'm really loving this. One of the most beautiful looking things I've ever seen on [adult swim], though it does have to compete with Death Note and Paranoia Agent. Still, some scenes are just BREATHTAKING.

And so far, the plot is interesting, as well... and, with it having a relatively small fanbase, as far as I know, the risk of someone spoiling me is minor. Yay! :anime:

So far, the only thing that hasn't been tested is action... and, with four assassins charging in, it looks like we'll be seeing that soon. So, yeah, great show. Potential to be one of my favorites... anyone know how many episodes there are?

Yup, she's easily the hottest anime fem i've seen in sometime(and her lips do add to that, but hey, i liked the way Saya looked in Blood the last Vampire so heh)

As for the show being a tad slow, i kinda like it, its a change from the usual faster paced action series, it also seems to have an ok plot so far, and YES, a spear for a change is a good thing.

Could this show be any slower?

I'm still baffled as to who thought this would be a good fit for late nite TV. It drags on and on and on. If it wasn't for the interesting female lead, (a 30 year old who isn't a side character? Perish the thought!) this show would be a total wash.

IThe king's speech just seemed to drag on forever. I didn't really see the point in his guards covering their eyes when they could still hear everything he was saying.

First off, that wasn't the King, it was the Master Star Gazer. In that 'boring' speach, he outlined why the kid was on the Emperor's hit list and such.

Anyway, interesting story, but obviously slower than last episode. I personally like it so far, but I can see this being a problem for others if we get pacing like this for the whole series. Still, an interesting Lead, beautiful visuals, and other characters who aren't mind-numbingly stupid (that kid was throwing around alot of money for a street urchin) should prove that while not completely original, is still unique enough to hold my intrest.

Next episode looks promising, Balsa vs. the secret 4.

Watching my recording now. I don't know, it's okay I guess. Really slow. The animation quality is good, but I don't really like the designs. Similar to how I felt about Noein's animation, really.

26.

Also, in case you didn't know this series is actually based of the first of ten novels in the "Moribito" series, being published by Scholastic here in the states. So even after the 26 episodes, there's more fun to be had. =)

Could this show be any slower?

It will be, once we reach the character development episodes. If you're complaining about it now, obviously this show isn't for you.

A prince who's father is a grade-A ******bag.

I don't think I would go that far...=\

The Master Star Reader mentioned that the Mikado (Chagum's father), was really broken up about having to kill his son, weeping in private and all that. When you're sworn to protect the land and it's people you can't let a potentially dangerous spirit to go running around, even if it has possessed your son.

The king's speech just seemed to drag on forever. I didn't really see the point in his guards covering their eyes when they could still hear everything he was saying.

That wasn't the King, it was the Master Star Reader. You'll meet the Mikado (Emperor) later. As for the the servants, when you are working in the presence of the Master Star Reader you tend to overhear a lot of things, the veil is used to signify what information is allowed to be spoken of freely, and what should be kept secret among the servants.

Well episode 2 was good, if you're paying attention to the dialog you can get a lot of info about what exactly is going on. Sadly, I am still not liking the dub that much. Anyway, I urge all of you calling the show "slow" to stick around for episode 3 and its incredible fighting sequences. After that however, I don't imagine many of you will last long as we move into the character and plot development episodes.

I am still really enjoying this series.

What I am MOST happy about is the fact our little prince is not a super annoying spoiled brat. I was VERY concerned that was going to happen. But he seems to be trying to put on a tough face, and for a cute little kid like that, that's pretty hardcore.

So far the series has not hit me with anything annoyingly cliche, so I might actually love this series. I'll still need to wait and see, because if they bust out with a swim suit episode in a few weeks...I might have to bring the hate.

But so far, it seems very intelligent. The long boring dialogue, I do not find that long and boring at all. Most series like this, like Gasuraki or whatever, I hate, I LOATHE them for all the long wordy and boring mindless babble. But this, I find interesting. The chit chat between the Star Readers, I found very interesting. See a little more insight to the world.

There is not a lot that I should really like about this series. But I am very much loving it so far. It has yet to annoy me. And that is a big plus.

I just wish they'd put it on earlier. In fact, they just need to put this on first. Screw the comedy. I just want to watch this, and then go to bed. BUT NO! They make me have to watch everything else that I can just catch on the Fix and then I can watch this! Jerks!

This show is pretty good, but there's no way I would regularly stay up late to watch this. Moribito doesn't deserve being put at 1:30 in the morning at all.

Anyway, the first three minutes of episode 3 is worth all of the build-up in episodes 1 and 2, trust me.

Balsa didn't spend 10 minutes powering up to fight, followed by 20 straight minutes of fighting so he hates the show.

Really I don't get that argument, I mean sure fighting shows would probably get better ratings but it doesn't make them a better show. And I love fighting/action shows don't get me wrong, but it would be a pretty dull world if everything was just carbon copies of each other and there was no variety. I like how they have different types of shows myself.

Wrong. It was a 20 minute speech on a block called Adult Swim action. Balsa was hardly doing anything. Balsa's actually a pretty interesting character, but in the midst of the BLAH BLAH BLAH this show comes off as boring. There's no substance, just dialog.

If you have to wait 3 episodes for a good fight scene, I have no idea how that's going to keep people watching. Balsa came off as dynamic in the pilot even if the plot moved slow as molasses. This week there isn't even that much.

Alot of people are complaining about the amount of 'blah, blah, blah' but my favorite anime of last year had alot of 'blah, blah, blah' so I'll probably like this.

I know, I mean, I watch late nite tv for action blood and guts.

Forget that "story-telling" crap!

It's got gorgeous art, and I like the storyline thus far. IMO it's the best thing to come to AS since Full Metal Alchemist.

For a fight to be interesting, I have to have some reason to care about who wins. Moribito's dialog portions help give me that reason. The dialog also is vital in setting up the background against which the fights take place and the overarching issues affected by a fight's outcome. The dialog also adds emotional weight to the heroes and villains, enriching them as characters I can like or dislike.

In this episode, the little prince proves he's no whiner and is able to deal with what he faces, seeing as he really is possessed by something. I like him so far. And Balsa is developing as a complex character, which makes her more interesting.

Unlike some folks here, I like to see character development. The more fully realized the characters are, the more reasons I find to care about what happens as the plot unfolds.

And there's no denying the beauty of the art in Moribito. It's among the most beautiful series I've seen.

The pity is that [AS] put it on at a bad time, but hey, that's why recording was invented. I just hope [AS] sticks to its past practice and gives the show a full premiere run. (^_*)

Last episode solidifed the character of Balsa, the tough, intellegent independent female main character with a distinct personality that made it obvious that even if the story was bad she would at least carry some of the load. This one solidifies the character of Chagum, somewhat. At the very least the worry i had about him being a more annoying tagalong was put to rest. He is unsure of what's happening somewhat and of some pretty basic commoner things (like piggybacks) but not to an annoying level. In fact his speech about the creature in him making him want to cling to live somehow did make me feel sorry for him. Obviously he won't be of much use without the spirit for pretty much anything, but that's acceptable. He's just a kid whose life has been thrown into a whole new situation and I'm glad they're making us care about him and not be annoyed Balsa has to take care of him. This one also confirms another fear of mine though: that this show will defintley be moving slowly in parts. Yeah we got good introductions to Balsa's two friends but Shuga's introduction was... well pretty meh. Felt like over 5 minutes of exposition on the prince and the spirt and his dad having to kill him for some sort of prophecy or some crap like that. Really that weant on way too long. They didn't even do to good a job showing the four guards going after Balsa and Shuga. Yeah good cliffhanger of them targetting the four but that's really the biggest action we got. Not that this show needs action but it defintley needs to keep to it's characters and the type of guy Shuga's around for are not good characters, and I also mean that in the shouldn't get screentime sense either. Besides that though, decent episode. Though I could do with less of the king's men and less of the prince sleeping throughout like half the show really.
