Robot Chicken returns with new episodes and... This one was decent I guesss. I didn't know the 24/Dracula thing actually had a purpose and it caught me off guard with it being the ending skit. The Voltron bit was funny because there's finally a parody of the forgotten Vehicle Voltron and I loved how it ended. "I wanted the real Voltron, not that stupid vehicle one." The Carmen Sandiego skit was the only bad one because it went on for too long, it should've ended with the phone conversation.

I'm pretty sure this was the one that was shown along with a few other various episode "premieres" during the Adult Swim April Fools special back on April Fools Day this year. They aired premieres of various eps and this was the one for RC along with "Dethwedding" for Metalcoplayse and a rough cut of the first part of Venture Brothers "The Dr Is Sin". This is it's offical AS advertised premiere though and the first time I caught it.
Even counting the April Fool's day stunt it's been awhile since we've had a new robot chicken (espically since I never saw this the first time it aired) and it's as... mediocre as it was before. The thing is that recently a lot of Robot Chicken skits either hit really hard, don't hit at all or come to some medium balance of hit and misses. I think this is one of those that has a lot more mediums then usual. For example the Legion of Super pets had a funny moment with the snake and the superman call but that's pretty much it. IMHO it would of been funnier seeing what the Super Pets were doing out and conversing among themselves (and if Krypto dissed his "stupid retarded candian kid series" Krypto The Superdog. I liked the show but it would of been a good place to make fun of it some). Likewise the Pac Man Matrix skit was funny but even though the idea of Pac-Man being Neo is sort of hollow that could of warranted more then just the red/blue pill and Pacman dies joke. How about Pac-love between Neo and Trinity/Mr. and Mrs Pac Man and some obscure video game character (like say Qbert) being the Oracle or something. That would of been sort of funny. The Voltron skit pretty much missed completley besides the refrence to veichole voltron and it was another one of those sketches that had already mocked something before in RC (Voltron was mocked in the second ep) and didn't need to be mocked again. Cencia Girls Gone Wild was just bloody and not really you know funny at all. The Carmen Sandiego host guy was okay if only for bringing the kids along and having them answer questions. Though in truth we've had too many of the "kids stand idly by and just watch things happen while the adults go crazy" sketch. How about the kids actually believing that the woman was Carmen and helping the guy defeat her somehow. That would of been funnier. Likewise I could of done without the first two bits of the Dracula sketch. Dracula killing everyone at the end was decent but the other two parts sucked and not in the vampire way either. The quickes were actually pretty good this time around (The mouse executioner, Planet Of The Ape, The pringles fever killing someone and uh... well three quickies are pretty good I guess) but the long skits could of used some work. Oh well there were some laughs but a lot of dull spots too making this a pretty eh middle of the road ep.

Ah, that makes sense. I was worried that I had become so desensitized to Robot Chicken that all the episodes were turning in to the same thing.
Now that makes sense.
But I'm not a big fan of the series. The ADD bite size comedy skits, it just a lot of misses, and a few hits every once n' a while. But when it hits me just right, I do find it pretty damn funny.

The Forgotten Vehicle Voltron skit was kinda funny.
The PacMatrix skit was a little too short.
Why are they referencing the lesser-known Carmen Sandiego PBS show?
For another domestic dispute sketch?

Yeah this episode was shown on April Fools Day and again on the 4th of July but people were probably out doing stuff and didn't know about it. So I'm guessing still a lot of people probably haven't seen it yet. Anyway it was an all right episode. My favorite sketch was definitely the Pac-Man matrix.

I knew I saw this Robot Chicken episode before.
Anyway, like most of the recent RC episodes, this one was strictly hit and miss. Some sketches worked and some didn't. The Voltron sketch was OK in parts, but I had hoped that the characters might have made mention of the fact that the 2nd Voltron series wasn't a Voltron series at all, but unreleated anime series titled Diarugger XV that was called Vehicle Team Voltron in the U.S. and added to the series to bulk out the running time. But alas...
Superpets and Pac Man Matrix were amusing, but the biggest disappointment was the Where on Earth is Carmen San Diego sketch, which had the potential to parody the show itself, but instead took the familliar route of "My girlfriend/wife is cheating on me, so I'm going to have an emotional tirade and go through a deep dpression that ends with me killing myself". Ho-hum.
Here's hoping that next week's Robot Chicken will actually be a new episode.

this is the part here a bunch of policemen come and club you with night sticks for pointing that out (reference: another robot chicken sketch)
This episode was much better than the rest of the season. The Voltron (the repeating theme was the icing on the cake) and Carmen Sandiego sketches were great, but I think the 24 Vampire sketch wasn't very good. It just plodded on and on and the last bit could've ended sooner. Overall a good episode, but Season 3 is definitely the weakest RC season yet.

Man, that Voltron skit has made the DVD set of this season a must buy. That was the greatest thing ever.
