Yikes, so no new episodes of CG, and Bleach for the 16th?
I wonder why they would put two episodes of Shin-chan than CG and Bleach

Meh oh well.

Probably because Shin-Chan is a comedy, so it complements the movie better than Bleach and Code Geass.

So we're back to two hours. No surprise with the ratings we were getting; they should've kept Inuyasha. Oh well, at least they set a new record for consecutive all anime nights: 14 weeks, not bad. So long to Death Note and GitS, here are the lines for what remains:

Shin Chan
Shin: Take off the wet clothes. Take off the wet clothes. Sticky shirt glued to my head. I’m naked not deaf.
Maso: Shin you frightened me! Do I dare ask what brings you here?
Shin: I had to get out of my clothes.
Maso: Well you should’ve knocked! I could’ve been naked too! Oh lordy, can you imagine?
Shin: Hey, I was coming back from Georgie’s and it started raining major cats and frogs. We even had to close Boo’s mouth to keep him from drowning.
Maso: Well you can’t be nude all day!
Shin: That’s not the world I know! I’ve heard tales of great nudie towns where the streets are paved with naked and it’s paradise ‘cept for all the old fat people.
Maso: Here’s the thing…I wouldn’t show it off too much. You know what I mean?
Shin: Huh? *gasp* No!:o
Maso: Sorry.

Bleach
Kariya: This was my favorite mansion. But now look what you’ve done. You’ve completely ruined it.
Ichigo: Gee, sorry about that! Do you want me to tear it down so you can start all over?!
Kariya: I think I’ll pass on that.
Ichigo(thinking): Damn! He sure doesn’t lack confidence.

Code Geass
Mao: Get your hands off of me, father killer! You killed your own father seven years ago. He called for do-or-die resistance and you thought stopping him would end the war. What a childish idea! The fact is you’re a murderer!
Suzaku: That’s not true! I just, I—
Mao: How lucky for you that no one ever found out. All the adults lied to protect you.
Lelouch: But the report said his suicide was a protest against the military actions.
Mao: A big fat lie, all of it!
Lelouch: A lie?
Suzaku: I didn’t have any choice! If I didn’t, Japan would’ve—
Mao: That’s how you explain it in retrospect? Well it explains your death wish! You want to save people’s lives? It’s your own wretched soul you want to save! That’s why you’re always charging into danger, placing yourself on the edge of death! You’re no hero, you’re just trying to wash the blood off your hands, a little brat begging to be punished!
Lelouch: Mao, never speak again! *GEASS!!*
Mao: Ah! Gah! Gah! Ah!
Lelouch: Mao!
CC: I did love you, Mao.
Mao: Gah-ga-ga-gu, ah!
CC: Mao, I want you to go wait for me in C’s world.
Suzaku: I just…I just…

Cowboy Bebop
Meifa: I just realized, that I never spent any time like this talking with my father.
Jet: Wait a minute! First of all, I’m not old enough to be your father, all right? Why if anything, I could be your boyfriend.
Meifa: ?
Jet: :oNo wait, that would be bad, wouldn’t it? Open foot, insert mouth! I mean, I’d be more like your older brother.

(Shouldn't it be "open mouth insert foot," or was that intentional?

Looks like the only anime next weekend is Shin Chan. Oh well, I think I'll give the ATHF movie a try anyway.

I think it goes to show that the first hour can't really be helped and that anime just does better later at night. Besides, midnight has been the strongest slot on Saturday, and the shows after midnight ride off that high. That's one reason why Bleach looked so good at 12:00/12:30 before, and should be back on top (with decent numbers to boot) now that it's there again.

I still cant believe shin chans doing so badly. But Im glad theyre airing two episodes after ATHF. It may attract those viewers. Because really, whos going to enjoy Shin Chan more? Bleach fans or ATHF fans? Its anime, but it really is targeted towards a different audience, and theyre not going to schedule a special viewing during an anime action block just to see if they might actually like it. They are more likely going to experience the show first hand by being forced into it.

If its successful, maybe they'll go back to airing it during the weekdays. I wonder if they'll air episode 45 and 46 together, or have one just be a rerun

The first post details how the later hours of Saturday do better than the first hour, which would actually make the schedule change a positive thing for anime fans.

The second post is my suggested schedule based off the data in the first post. I tried my best to satisfy both comedy and anime fans, as well as put something together that should get good ratings.

Regarding the first hour of ASA, I have a crazy idea that could possibly work but would never be tried because of the utter obsurdity of it. What they should do is take an anime that did really well in the ratings during its premier run and stick it in the first hour slot, but it would have to be fairly long since it would then be on twice as much as the other shows. Something like...oh, I don't know... Inuyasha. Yeah, double Inuyasha might be able to keep a decent audience for the first hour, which would then grow for the premiers and give Saturday some non-horrible ratings. I know, it's an insane idea that would never happen in a million years, but what if...

The Collector

Didn't they already try that recently and failed worse than usual?

Yes they tried it recently and no it didn't fail at all, it was the line-up we had since Saturday went all anime again and it produced the closest we've come to consistant ratings in years with the top three almost always above 300k and Bleach occasionally breaking the 400k barrier. It only took one bad night to completely wipe away months of good numbers.

My post before was laced with sarcasm(which can't be conveyed well with the written word) saying that if AS wants decent to good numbers again they should return the schedule to what it was a month ago. It's a known fact that airing 2nd tier comedies ahead of the anime doesn't improve anything.

Or maybe quite yanking around the schedule of whatever shows they have on. And never giving anything a chance to build an audience....

People never know what the schedule is on any given week without making an effort to check an outside source. Like they don't know from consistancy or promoting schedules. Let alone patience to let shows find an audience.

Numbers immediately or die seems to be their motto.

Agreed. About half of any shows I liked has been canceled because of that. I never knew it was on. The paper guide lies, the cable channel guide lies, the tvguide.com lies!!! If anything I helped ratings for crappy shows waiting for my show to air which never did. You yank the schedule around so much and so quickly, no source is going to be accurate. And at some point you give up on the show completely
