http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-lijoy0801,0,5138315.column Well I don't know what to say. Government experiment gone wrong? Somebody's dead dog? A sea turtle without a shell? My guess is this: the Aliens have come. What do you think?

If it is aliens, hopefully they learned not to let their pets go swimming.

This whole thing kind of reminds me of when someone claimed to have found a chupacabra carcass in Texas a few years back, and it turned out to be a partially decayed dog with mange.

Looks like a Klingon targ with no hair.

Look like Klang left his pet on earth while out trying to kill Captain Kirk.

I'm gonna go with skinned and de-shelled turtle.

Probably just a really convincing prank, IMO...

Events like this make me wish I were more familiar with foam latex casting. Great source of inspiration. Not that I believe this is that sort of fake... I'm leaning toward the large, dead raccoon theory, myself.

Don't know what to think. I love cryptozoology, so this is interesting to me. I think this is a weird, undiscovered creature.

A "Chewbacca" carcass???

 - har.

My theories:

1. Dead Turtle without shell
2. Latex or photo-shopped hoax.
3. Dead hairless raccoon or some similar animal

No, it is not an alien or some undiscovered animal.:raven:

And it's supposedly a stunt from Cartoon Network as viral marketing for The Secret Saturdays. Bizzare... I'd go with the deshelled turtle theory myself.

It ca't be a turtle, look at the canine teeth.

Are people just not familiar with turtle anatomy, or something? ;-)

Only one photo?

I find that hard to swallow. Heh, maybe that's the new Cloverfield monster and this is just the start of some viral marketing.

Only one photo? At least two, actually. The latest was taken after it'd been flipped/kicked over.

This still smells rotten to me. I call "Cloverfield 2 viral marketing" on this one. Maybe that creature is a baby Cloverfield monster?

Am I overthinking this? :D

The rumor seems to be a viral marketing for the new CN original series, The Secret Saturdays.

Isn't that a little...much for a viral marketing campaign? Especially for something like Cartoon Network.

Wait a minute...Why would they go that far?

Would Cartoon Network really try another viral marketing campaign after the Aqua Teen Hunger Force bomb scare?

CN is freak'n crazy... I'm not shocked if they actually did come up with this.

I think this guy said it best... (http://lionessandvixen.blogspot.com/2008/08/montauk-monster.html)

Is it a publicity stunt?

No, probably not... It is a strange coincidence that Cartoon Network's new show, The Secret Saturdays, about a family that seeks out mythological creatures called "Cryptids", is airing. This kind of thing seems like a prank of Cartoon Network proportions (i.e. Aqua Teen Hunger Force). However, as far as I know, this new show is meant for children and (they) probably wouldn't be throwing a fake animal with its **** hanging out on the beach. So that's out.

I'll laugh if it is a CN marketing ploy, and they gave the monster a private area just as a cover up. I know it sounds unlikely that CN would give the monster a private part of any gender for a family/kids show, but I'll still laugh if it a red herring to throw people off.

I'm almost positive this has nothing to do with Cartoon Network. I just don't see it. Aqua Teen Hunger Force was an Adult Swim show targeted at adults. This Secret Saturdays show is intended for children. CN isn't going to go out of their way to stage something like this in order to just get kids to watch a show, especially since it's not only iin slightly bad taste (just look at that disgusting thing) it's also appearing in a lot of adult media.

Again, I stick to my guns. If this is a marketing plot for anything, it's for the next Cloverfield movie. But that's iffy too.

Calling this a marketing scheme for CN or Hollywood is lateral thinking taken waaaaaayyyy too far.

Go outside for a change.
