The eighth episode of Total Drama Island airs on Har Har Tharsdays today. Looks like this episode is TV-PG-D. Here's the synopsis:

The campers participate in a 3 part canoe race to Boney Island, the Deadliest Place in Muskoka.

I wouldn't call Cody being full of himself as much as being oblivious and a dork. You can't blame the dude for trying, but he's not a complete idiot. He knows Gwen and Trent have a thing for each other and even just said he'd try to help Gwen out, of course making a fool of himself a second later.

Man, there are some freaky animals on that island. Even that bear was like 'what the...?'

Man, Izzy was on her crazy train this episode with the firebomb and all her out-there stories... except for the one that was actually true.

I'm seriously gonna miss her, but next week looks real fun with the paintball and the alluded shot-to-the-pills Duncan takes.

Also, it's nice that the Killer Bass got another win again...they were thinning out to fast. Also, I have a feeling the rock that Beth picked up might cost the Gophers a win in the future.

I laughed incredibly hard when the bear put on his glasses. A bear with gasses- priceless. :D

Fun episode...

Agree that Beth will probably regret taking that little statue home with her in the future.

I knew Izzy was a freak, but this one pretty much puts her well over the top (being wanted by the RCMP?!). Wish we knew who the group planned on voting off, though... :-)

Owen's "... don't come a-knockin' " comment probably helped secure the "TV-PG-D" rating for this episode (along with the bra bet), but was extremely stupid and hilarious. :-p

Old-but-funny (and not seen used by me in awhile) cartoon gags a-plenty in this episode:
- someone accidentally shooting down a bird with a starter's pistol
- an ordinary-looking animal whipping out a pair of glasses in utter disbelief at what he's seeing ("The Flintstones" had a gag like that once---an episode had the subplot of Dino disbelieving Fred had really shrunk to six inches tall, to the point of getting glasses...).
- The "mushroom cloud-from-an-unlikely-source" bit (the Simpsons used a similar gag in the first "Treehouse of Horror")

Canadianisms:
- According to this site (http://www.qc.ec.gc.ca/faune/oiseaux_menaces/html/pygargue_tete_blanche_e.html), the bald eagle is classified in Canada as a "species not at risk" (i.e. not endangered or threatened), except in Quebec. Though imagine there'll be emails from a few ticked-off bird lovers anyway. ;-)

- Another appearance of Canada's national animal, the beaver---or its prehistoric "Flintstones"-esque version anyway. We also get to see a Canada goose (or *its* feral prehistoric-ish version at least :-p)...

- The RCMP is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCMP), the federal-level police force of Canada (but handles some provincial-level police duties in some provinces, according to the article---Ontario, where this show takes place, has its own province-level police, though). The RCMP is one of the country's most recognized facets, thanks to such media as the "Rocky and Bullwinkle" cartoon "Dudley Do-Right". Real modern-day "Mounties" only wear the famous red uniforms on formal occasions/ceremonies, instead using normal modern police equipment/cars (not horses)/uniforms, as seen in this episode. The seen-in-syndication-in-the-US Canadian TV show "Stone Undercover" shows one such modernized portrayal of the RCMP.

- Finally noticed Owen's shirt has (at least in stock-footage long-shots in the opening) a "zero" on the back---so guess it *is* a Toronto Maple Leafs T-shirt...

Next week (probably reviewed by me late---heading out of town this weekend for a vacation to, ironically enough, Canada): paintball. Guessing this means some sort of firearm gags... :-)

Great episode!

-Izzy's sendoff was awesome. And the campers "WTF?!" expressions after that was just classic.

-So Cody is a ladies' man now. Hmm...that's so priceless!

-The ending was quite a cliffhanger; I'm wondering what kind of trouble that tiki will cause Beth and her teammates.

-Lindsay just cracked me up when she tried to rescue Trent from the quicksand! "Hey, I'm in quicksand too!" LOL!

Total Drama Island is getting better every episode! This one was really funny. The bird being shot was great and Cody is becoming a better character. The end was a bit of a foreshadow that Beth is gone soon, maybe even next. The elimination was awesome and fuinny, but it is too bad Izzy is gone. Does anyone else have a feeling she might come back?

Izzy is insane, truly insane. And Cody, the Codman. I guess that bra will come back to bite him soon.

Well she wasn't really voted off, so anything's possible. If she does somehow come back, I'll be ecstatic. Izzy quickly became my favorite character in just a few episodes, partly because she was so crazy and partly because she was the farthest away from being a stereotype when compared to everyone else on the show.

EDIT: You know, if you watch the first premiere commercial for TDI, there's a shot of Izzy doing the slow throat-cut motion and mouthing "You..." that we haven't seen in the show yet. I'm pretty sure she'll be back sometime later after putting those pieces together.

Duh, it a reality show so that mean for season 2 there will be new cast members and nothing is hard if u have the talent of drawing and a program that do anime

Actually, the 2nd season which will start in Canada soon will have 11 campers coming back from this season and 11 new campers to make the cast. And of course, Chris and Grandmaster Chef are coming back as well.

Yes. There's a special being animated right now that is to air between seasons that includes the whole cast of season one. The special is where they'll decide who goes on to season 2.

He's trying with Gwen,,, and though it took wAy to many crotch shots,,, "take a hint already", he did give her a friends help getting her in Trent's canoe. Girls should like him, but they probably will never give him a break.The really cute part was when she left her bra for him to not have to wash dishes. :D A friend girl that will do that is hard to find.

I knew Izzy was going to get voted off the second LeShauna got onto her, but man, I did not expect her to get chased down by the RCMP. What a way to go! A shame, though: she was one of my favorite characters.

I'd bet almost anything Gwen and Owen will be the last two campers standing at the end. The writing staff obviously likes those two the most.

Here are my thoughts on this ep:

1. It was a shame to hear that DJ's been afraid of the water since a high-diving childhood incident! No wonder he chickened out of that very first challenge on Day 1!!!:crying: :crying: :crying:

2. I felt Geoff should NEVER had made that heart-shaped thing for Brifgette.:sad:

3. WHOA!!! Those monster beavers sure looked vicious and scary!:eek:

4. WHEW! I'm very glad Cody's vine helped Trent & Lindsay out of that quicksand!:sweat:

5. It was a bad move on Harold's part when he used his team's oars for campfire wood!:( Izzy should've had her head examined for almost killing everybody with that homemade firestarter!!!:ack:

6. I felt it was very nice of Cody helping Trent score with Gwen!:anime:

7. I absolutely loved it when DJ conquered his fears and helped "paddle-push" his team to victory!:D I didn't blame Leshawna one bit for wanting to wring Izzy's neck!!!:p

8. In a way, I AM kinda glad Izzy got voted off. She was far too strange, IMO.:ack: I just hope the RCMP catch her!!!

9. Call me weird, but I felt Gwen leaving Cody her bra was nice payback for him helping her & Trent have a nice romantic evening.:D I also liked how Bridgette had second thoughts about the homemade gift from Geoff.:anime: As for Beth and that idol, I hope it doesn't give her a nightmare!:p

Next time, the paintball deer hunt looks awesome!!!:D

Well I was able to see that episode while on vacation, and thought that it was just awesome episode. I just like how Duncan created the fire through the means of lighter. DJ needing encouragement was a good turning point for the Bass, was wondering when they would strike back from the jaws of defeat.
