How so many things have changed since I last watched cartoon network the logo changed colors, new comercials, new shows,line-ups,alot of shows are gone.. Just WOW
I havent watched cn in months and I turn it on and start watching a show called jonny test actually pretty entertaining and see these commercials about shows like flapjack, chowder, george of the jungle, ben 10 alien force, robotboy, drama island, bakugan, transformors as,chop socky chooks, blue dragon.
that i`ve never seen before..
Soo I think that although it is nothing compared to the old cartoon network were I would sit down and watch ppg, edd`s,dexter, jonny bravo, robot jenny, sheep in the big city, knd, mucha lucha, mike lu and og,flinstones.
I think it`s alright entertainment wise it`s something to turn on when i`m bored atleast.

My eyes are still reeling from having to process so much red. lol

The red, it burns!

New CN starting to shape back up, though. Chowder and Transformers are triple-A shows, and the rest of the bunch ain't half bad. Plus, they're gettin' quite a bit more lax on censorship (Naruto, Hellboy, TDI). Also, nostalgia is a rose-colored lens. PPG and Dexter's Lab still hold up great, but stuff like Johnny Bravo and even Time Squad (one of my old faves) seem really bland now that I've re-watched them.

It's just that the live-action movies that bug the crap out of me.

Glad that you are thinking positive of the network...just write in a more neutral color, cause red is way to bright.

Cartoon Network has gotten a lot better lately.

And on the other hand with each new (admittedly Summer) schedule I find less and less reason to ever watch CN again. If by the fall Ed, Edd and Eddy and Billy and Mandy aren't back on the schedule in 6pm to 11pm slots I'll really have no reason to ever watch this channel ever again. Unless something new pops up that interests me that much. But I doubt it.

A positive post about Cartoon Network is almost worth the optical pain I experienced by reading the original post.

On a side-note, it amazes me the number of people who seem to think Johnny Test is a new CN original. The shows' been running on Kids' WB! for 3 whole seasons before CN got a hold of it, yet I keep reading posts by people who act as if the show didn't exist before it came to Cartoon Network. A lot of people must be sleeping in on Saturdays nowadays.

You are so right. The color red is so noticeable and identifiable... Wow!

Anyways, while it may never be as good as the old CN. It's watchable and that's all that matters.

Heh... Mucha Lucha nostalgia. That show hasn't even been gone that long, compared to most of the others you listed. The movie just aired a few weeks ago.

That said, CN is pretty fickle lately, they've already gotten rid of two of the shows you mentioned them airing ads for (Blue Dragon and Bakugan).

Well, some people don't get Kids WB, like me... I keep up with what they're airing, but I don't imagine most people do.

That, and Saturday morning cartoon ratings aren't what they used to be. That's not nostalgia, it's just a fact.

I have to agree that Cartoon Network has actually improved lately---no more 87 airings per day of Kids Next Door, Billy and Mandy, Camp Lazlo and My Gym Partner's a Monkey (four shows that seem to have been mostly banished/pared back on), the bumpers actually reference their cartoons (not stupid live-action kids jumping around/playing rock music), and I'm actually finding cartoons on there that're watchable (Total Drama Island, George of the Jungle, and what I've seen of Chowder). While I still loathe the live-action movies they're airing when there's a zillion animated films available, and still wish they'd find room for Looney Tunes (instead of just Tom and Jerry), I'm glad to see something's apparently changing for Cartoon Network for the better...

Some CW affiliates don't carry the kids programming, or some towns just don't have a CW station at all.

Jonn's CW affiliate is on a decimal-numbered channel, which he can't get with the kind of TV he has.

He refers to digital subchannels that each broadcast TV station's digital TV signal has---thus, say, a channel 4 could broadcast a main signal ("4.1") plus several subsignals (4.2, 4.3, etc.) each with different programming.

Whoa, does that mean that if when I was watching Johnny Test on CN, I could turn to a CN subchannel and watch Chowder?

i think the whole subchannel thing has to do with different timezones. For example, one decimal number channel would most likely be 3 hours behind another. So if one decimal number channel was airing Chowder and the channel three hours ahead was showing Johnny Test, then in three hours the first channel would be showing Johnny Test. I think that's how it works.

Yes, you could. But it's not like each different channel is following a completely different schedule. They're following the same schedule, just one is ahead by 3 hours or so.

I have to agree, CN's been getting oddly close to old-school lately, and it's really nice to see. They seem to have completely shed the "kids good adults bad" crud from last year, as well as the vast majority of the live action. (Most of what's left seems to be um...leftovers.) We're getting new shorts, new shows, all of which are animated. The only one I've really been keeping up with is Ben 10: Alien Force, but Chowder and Total Drama Island are drop dead hilarious. Even the bumpers with the little white dolls are cute and fun to watch in their own right.

As for Kids WB and such... Lets face it. Most people in this thread aren't watching saturday morning cartoons anymore, unless they're on CN. There just isn't the same amount of content that there was in the 80's and early 90's. Heck, I saw Veggie Tales one of the major networks (forget which one) once, and my reaction was "What? They still air cartoons on Saturday?" I think there's been a slight revival, though...

I have to agree, CN is of course not as great as it used to be but it's really starting to get back in shape! I'm having some more hope for this channel. Their making new shows that are doing extremely or fairly well, their getting some of the older audiance back and yeah the bumps are a big improvement from those BS fall promos. I think if CN keeps it up, takes more chances and keep trying different stuff, (and no more live action please), I think it could really get back on track.

OK I can safely say we all can't stand the wedgies. But it's a small step. I think if they got better writers for the wedgies and made them funnier with better quality animation they would be great.
