This is the talkback thread for Thruop Van Orman Talks "Flapjack" with Animation Magazine (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=24837).

An interesting if brief article. Some interesting points:

- Van Orman was an intern on the Powerpuff Girls and a storyboarder for Billy & Mandy and Camp Lazlo.

- The show had been pitched as early as 2001. It went through numerous revisions of course.

- The person he pitched the show to in 2001 didn't take it seriously.

- Paul Reubens(Pee Wee Herman) was originally suppose to voice Flapjack but he didn't show up.

I knew he was a storyboarder on Camp Lazlo and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, but I didn't know he was an intern on The Powerpuff Girls. I expected that he pitched the show back around 2001, since it takes years to develop a show when starting practically from scratch. But the fact the person at Cartoon Network he first pitched it too didn't even take it seriously brings new meaning to a joke I heard in I am Weasel. And Paul Reubens? Seriously? That is a major surprise.

Pretty interesting interview. I knew he worked on PPG and Camp Lazlo, but not Billy and Mandy. And he was taught by Randy Myers?? Doesn't he work at CNS too?? He did work on PPG and some other shows too. Also I wonder if Thurop still has that short he made back in 2001, I wonder how Flapjack's evolved since then. I also wonder how Flapjack would've sounded had Paul Reubens ended up voicing him.
That picture of Thurop with the really long beard is creepy. He looks like a real pirate .
