The fifth episode of the second-highest rated show on Har Har Tharsdays airs today. Looks like this episode is TV-PG-D. Here's the synopsis:

The campers step on stage for the most dramatic elimination competition yet! Each team must choose their contestants wisely as they compete in a Talent Contest.

I presume Chowder is the first, or was it Johnny Test?

This has got to be the best episode yet, mainly because a lot of characters got fleshed out, and had time to shine.
One things for sure, things got intense!

Wow, Owen........just wow.

Was not expecting Justin to get vote off. For once, that part of he show wasn't predictable. Despite his good looks, he was the dullest character in the show, not to mention he hasn't a speaking line since the first episode.

Harold can beat box. And once again, I can't help but notice the Napoleon Dynamite influence.

Man, Harold's the Bass' secret weapon. Talk about snatching victory from the jaws of a very disgusting defeat. I definitely felt bad for Bridgette when she gave that video diary pretty much admitting that she'd be out if they lost.

I know this won't be the last time Heather screws over her own teammates, but even Chris knew she did some manipulating to save her own butt.

One other thing: I freaking loved Izzy's dance. The show desperate needs to give her more screen time as she seems to blend into the background too much for someone who's supposed to be freaky.

Great episode tonight, liked how it felt more real then cartoony, the best part was looking how relationships are starting to develop. First time we didn't expect a camper to get taken off.
The only thing I didn't like was the vomit part that ruined the whole ep. for me.
Anyway so far one of the best episodes yet.
Also letting the word crap finally slide into a show was good seeing you hardly see that on CN anymore.
Grat ep. 5/5

Yet another fantastic episode of Total Drama Island. The scene where Bridgette threw up on everyone was pleasantly entertaining and I don't even like stuff like that. I never expected Justin to be eliminated this early but I knew it was coming.

the beat boxing seemed familiar.....

Ever since that guy made that video, everyone has been doing it.

I definitely caught that in "Dodgebrawl": "It's a medical condition. Gosh!"

The look on Lindsay's face after she rattled off that embarrassing secret about her sister...priceless.

That Heather is devious...but I'm glad that Gwen evened the score; you shouldn't go airing other people's dirty laundry.

Owen...oh, Owen.

The fifth episode of the second-highest rated show on Har Har Tharsdays airs today.

It's a bit of stretch to say that, don't you think? I mean...we only saw the ratings for one week, and they were so close to each other that the highest-rated show could easily become the lowest-rated show on the block in a week's time.

Well, this was a case of me copying and pasting from a previous thread and not really noticing that.

Also, I don't think its that big of a stretch. I mean if CN is having a five episode marathon of the show on Saturday and promoting it too, it can't be that far off. Especially since the marathon wasn't originally scheduled in the first place.

I love goth girls like Gwen as much as the next guy, but Izzy might have her beat as my favorite girl when it's all said and done. Glad I wasn't the only one who 'noticed' her "Dance of the Rattlesnake."

I cannot comprehend how this show is getting favored by such a great degree over shows like Flapjack (which isn't really anything special, but at least it doesn't resort to toilet humor, cheap stereotypes and ripping off Napoleon Dynamite).

Preferring it is something I could understand, but liking it to the point where more than 90% of this thread is positive?

And Owen... wow. That was also unexpected.

TDI itself is the epitome of 'meh'-ness to me, but as far as the characters go, I do kind of like Katie & Sadie. They're so darn cute together.

Goth girls in general are starting to bore me big time, 'cause I've seen so darn many of them in on TV for the past decade (Gwen from TDI, Raven from Teen Titans, Rogue from X-Men: Evolution, Onyx from Trollz, Ophelia from Juniper Lee, Joan of Arc from Clone High, et al).

Izzy is now officially my second-favorite character. That dance of hers... wow.:anime: Poor owen is just one of those people that says whatever blurts into his head, then re-thinks just how that sounds and has to back peddle like mad. Oh brother, the many times I've had to do that.

I knew Izzy had to sooner or later start doing some really kewl stuff. she has a strong fan base. Girls doing dances are always fan getters. The BFF's (Stacy and Lacy?) dance was a scream :anime:

They really weren't going anywhere with Justin, but it was a shock that anyone, even Heather could get him voted off. I was a little putoff,,, until she got the red ants. :anime:

Lindsay pulling the hair from her mouth after getting the ponytail swat, Comments about tanning with Gwen of all people, and Gwens repeated bad hair moments were great :anime:

Different strokes. In the spirit of fairness, Chowder 2: the Chowdening (not a shot at "Flapjack", but it's impossible bordering on embarrassing not to notice the resemblance) isn't quite my cup of tea, either.

As for TDI, I like it. It makes me laugh. No classic, but, let's not kid ourselves, there are way worse cartoons on the air.

Aside from both leads being young and foolish (which could apply to the majority of toons these days), what other similarities are there? One has an overly innocent character with 2 competing "parent" figures and a very gloomy & grotesque atmosphere, while the other title character acts more like an actual kid, has a much larger supporting cast, and a highly colorful and zany setting.

My thoughts on this ep:

Harold's beatboxing was pretty funny!
Great to see Gwen's revenge on Heather with the ant farm!
a. I was so surprised that Justin got voted off.
b. ^In correlation, I'm actually starting to kinda hate the host of this show. Who would kick someone off as a result of choosing bad talent over a mean spirit, anyway? Then again, I guess a mean girl does add more flavor to the show...
Owen's comments was the ultimate WTF?! moment, IMO.Awesome episode.

Well, that's how the votes went. Heather used the tools she had, whether they were her alliance or a piece of cake, and captured a majority to do what she wanted. Pretty typical reality show fare.

As for Chris, yeah, he's kind of mean and a jerk but he's the closest thing to a direct audience reaction on there and he's shown that from expressing his opinion on the goings-on at various points.

Their portrayals of woman as anorexic-looking is barely watchable.I can't help but to be disgusted by the fact that all pretty girls are mandated to show off their stomach and be thinner then a pencil.I hate people with these sorts of views on woman's body images. Then they compensate by being."Oh,let's throw in a few heavy girls to even it out."The shows all right itself ,but I've got to ask myself...would it KILL them to try making a girl of average weight?

It's not the host who kicks the contestants off, it's their teammates who vote them off.

I hope I'm not too late to comment. Here are my thoughts:

1. I must admit, I thought Owen burped the alphabet rather well.:)

2. Heather sending Lindsay to spy on Gwen was definately not cool.:(

3. I felt very sorry for Bridgette when she accidentally broke Courtney's violin while trying that handstand for 20 minutes. I didn't want her to get voted off so soon.:crying: :crying: :crying:

4. I didn't blame Trent & Gwen for being angry one bit when Owen & Cody ruined their romantic moment at the lake.

5. During the talent show:

a. I thought Justin's remake of Flashdance was great!:)

b. Too bad DJ messed up his rhythmic gymnastics act.:(

c. I absolutely loved Trent's song about him & Gwen! I thought it was very lovely!:D :D :D

d. Seeing poor Bridgette throw up while doing her handstand was not a pretty sight!:crying:

e. I really felt Heather reading poor Gwen's diary to everyone was very, very cruel!!!:crying: :crying: :crying: I HATE THAT HEATHER NOW!!!!!

f. I loved how Harold won for his team with those electric noises! He rocks!!!:D :D :D I'm so glad I'll still see Bridgette for a while longer!

6. My jaw almost literally hit the floor when Justin got voted off instead of mean Heather!!!   I'm so glad Gwen got revenge by borrowing Harold's fire ants and tossing them on Heather! Nobody, I repeat, nobody reads somebody's diary, embarasses them and gets away with it!!! DO YOU HEAR ME, HEATHER?! NOBODY!!!!!

A great ep! 4 stars!:D It'll be interesting to see how they survive in the wilderness next time!:)

An amusing episode...

- Yeah, seeing the "pretty boy" voted off was unexpected from me, also---guess he was getting by all this time on just his looks after all. :-p

- Nice revenge on the "reveal my journal" bit of sleaze with the ant farm...

- Lots of easily-broken stuff in this episode (violins, skateboards, etc.).

- Owen's joke about wanting to kiss his teammate made me laugh...

Canadianisms:
- Per Owen's alphabet-belching: in British English (and I gather Canadian English), the letter "z" is pronounced "zed", not "zee" like in American English.

- In the scene where the characters place their bets, Canadian $5 bills are shown. Canadian 5's are colored blue and depict (on the back) children playing hockey and sledding; the front features Sir Wilfrid Laurier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfrid_Laurier), a Canadian prime minister during the late 19th century. Photo of the front of a $5 (and other Canadian bills): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Canadian_bills2.jpg

(I recall on "6Teen" how it felt like the only currency the characters had were fives, for some reason... guess they must've burned through their paychecks pretty quickly...)

Next week: the obvious apparently---camping... :-p

To be fair, this is supposed to be a reality show, and those generally pick more attractive females. The band geek is filling a sterotype quota.

Sadie is far from thin and she has lots of skin exposed. As for the girls showing off their stomachs ... the show does take place in the summer so it's not too surprising.

As for the episode, I was really sad that Justin was voted off. I wonder which male is going to fill in the role as eye-candy now? Also, Heather is a bunch of names that are not age apropriate, but I think we all know that.

True, who doesn't want to be better. But for guys who obsess it's the weight room and protein drinks. Not exactly health damaging. Though I do draw quite a thick line between animated characters and waif models.

Aren't we a bit hard stressed to find any animated character not in abstract form?
