Viacom will make a 24-hour channel channel about Nick Toons according to Cartoon Research (http://www.cartoonresearch.com) .

I like the idea for the sake of "Ren and Stimpy," "Rocko's Modern Life," "Spongebob Squarepants," "Invader Zim," "Doug," some "Hey Arnold," and "The Fairly OddParents."

I however don't like the idea for the sake of every other piece of crap also called "Nicktoons."

Why don't they make an all 24-hour channel dedicated to classic Nick shows from the eighties?

I would love that! I miss shows like Roundhouse, and would love to see those classic shows again. Im just torn between wanting to see classic nick shows, and wanting shows like ren and stimpy, rocko, and (of course) Zim. By the way, if they make this Nicktoon channel, are they gonna do a Cartoon Cartoon thing, where they make shows exclusive to the Nicktoon channel? My stupid wish is that they could somehow make new zim episodes. oh well, im probably just delusional.....................doom doom. :(

Roundhouse was pretty classic wasn't it?

I'm kinda hoping they'll air the huge catalog of theatrical cartoons they own. They have all the Terrytoons, as well as a bunch of Paramount cartoons, but they never air them.

Jack :D

I'd like to see the Paramount and Terrytoons fare, but what I'd really like is a re-airing of the dubbed French-Japanese 'toons they aired in the 80s, like Belle & Sebastian and Mysterious Cities of Gold. I miss those old shows.

Maybe that will reserve Nick's main channel for something worth watching.

QUESTION. Are they starting a Cartoon Network type channel or their version of Boomerang?

I think it's probably going to be more like Toon Disney than Cartoon Network or Boomerang.

AH-HA! So that's where TerryToons are. Now if only I can find Walter Lanz's shorts.

Two channels means we will see more WB Silver Age stuff and Nick Toons, *hopefully*.

Someone mentioned Count Duckula on the boards before.
Anyone remember that Nick cartoon?

Yeah, I remember it. but apparently not that well, I didn't realize it was a Nicktoon.

As for classic shows, I hate to admit it but, I'd like to see You Can't Do That On Television and Mr. Wizards World again. Ah, I learned much from that gentle pervert.

It's not a Nicktoon, and unfortunately probably won't show up on this network since Nick would have to pay for the rights to show it.

I would love to see Sebastian & Belle again, along with Mysterious Cities of Gold, and of course Terrytoons. But I wouldn't be surprised if Terrytoons are the only ones that Nick/Viacom has the rights to.

Mattashell: There should be Lantz DVDs coming from Columbia House in the future, but we don't have any real info on them yet other than that.

So this is the end of Nicktoons.... Didn't think it would be this soon.

At least now those fortunate enough to have this channel can see the classic nicktoons in better timeslots hopefully(Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Invader Zim(maybe with the unaired eps as well), Rocko, and THe Angry Beaver(with the unaired season), even the earlier Rugrats eps, not the God-awful new ones) So say your goodbyes to Nicktoons on Nick, and better luck on your new home where maybe you'll get a little respect, which is tough for Nick to provide to anything non-KC; and a horrible burning death to the rest of Nick, especially new Rugcraps and Sucky Power.

DAMN. the only thing I hate is Invader zim's moving. No way in hell am I going to see this again. I just know Im not going to get the all nicktoons channel, and I was really hoping to get it on CN. If I do get this channel...THEN ROCKO WILL RULE.

Well, the good news is that we'll finally be able to see the classic Nicktoons in general.

Bad news is that *I* probably will not get this channel. Which means all my old favorites are still going to be out of my reach, and I'll be forced to watch more Klasky-Cuspo junk. -_-;;

But in any event, this is still very good-the old shows are finally coming back! And that's still worth something to me.:)

so what Nick going to show?

Count Duckula was a cartoon on Nick, not a Nick Toon. I was just asking if you heard of it.

I have DirecTV so I know it will be available when it comes out. But my dad wouldn't pay any extra money for it, so I hope it's free.

I wouldn't worry about the Nick Toons leaving, anyway. Did Nick Jr. stop when Noggin came out? Did Nick at Nite end when TV Land came out? Sure, the Hanna-Barbara cartoons left CN for Boomerang, but CN is owned by Warner Bros, not Viacom.

Well I've heard of Count Duckula and I got a kick out of that show, so at least I'm with you!

Yes, more than likely this channel would be a lot like CN's Boomerang... Nick's older library would go here, while Nick itself would be the home of newer/popular/deemed safe by the network (alas, Zim) Nicktoons.

I can't believe that this is finally happening.

Pros: reruns of "Doug", "Rugrats" (1991-1993), "Ren and Stimpy", "Rocko's Modern Life", "Aaaaah! Real Monsters", "The Angry Beavers", "Hey Arnold", "Spongebob Squarepants", "The Fairly Oddparents" and "Invader ZIM".

Cons: "CatDog", "Rugrats" (1997-present), "Rocket Power", "The Wild Thornberrys" and "As Told by Ginger".

Now all Viacom needs to do is bring back their great old shows ("Salute Your Shorts", "Roundhouse" and YCDTOTV to name a few) on a network to be titled "Classic Nick" and their atonement (see my "Nick's biggest mistake of 2K1" thread) is complete.

Count Duckula was a GREAT cartoon! As was Danger Mouse! Anyone remember that?

I can't wait to see more R & S and Rocko at (HOPEFULLY) more respectable times. Doug as well.
