How can I enjoy this show if I can barely understand what the main character's saying?

"Ever done it with an air marshall? Then how about the world's greatest grandpa?"

One thing that's been interesting to watch is how much more outrageous the chief is becoming. First few episodes he was just a bumbling chief, but now he is forgetting the plot, ordering drinks on the job, and now sleeping with Sanchez' wife.

This by no means a great show, or one of Adult Swim's best, but the fact that you can barely understand him is where at least 40% of the humor comes from and I find the mumbling pretty funny. Think of it this way, with most cop shows, you could dub in Assy's mumbling and they'd still make as much sense because of how formulaic they are.

Yeah, the writers seem to know where the humor in Assy lies. The first episode of the season where Assy is "explaining" the case to the Chief is hilarious.

Another very funny episode, even packaged with a little twist. I also liked how when the chief was reading to the men about joining the air marshalls, his eyes were reading right to left. Good little gag there.

So true.

"Why'd you kill the stewardess?"

"She wouldn't have sex with me."

I have to admit that was pretty funny.

I'm just going to come out and say it.

This show has better one-liners than Shin-Chan ever did or will. And it's half the length, and thankfully has no poop jokes (even if the fart ones are overdone)

Comparing this to Shin Chan is kind of ridiculous though in my opinion. They're totally different shows. Assy is the standard Adult Swim 15 minute show where the plot more or less purposefully makes no sense. Shin Chan is a foreign show with at least as much plot and continuity as The Simpsons or Family Guy. It's not surprising that Assy McGee and the other 15 minute Adult Swim shows generally are filled with more one liners than shows like Shin Chan, but Shin Chan at least makes sense (most of the time). That's not to say Assy isn't funny though.
