This is the talkback thread for CN Bumps Isenhower Up to VP of Programming and Scheduling (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=23026).
I wonder if this new person will bring actual change or the same slapdash methodology that CN seems to be using for scheduling lately.

If this VP works out, Cartoon Network Could have a good chance of getting better. They made a good move when they bumped up Rob Sorcher, the guy who imagined up the Cartoonstitute (I've said this before but I'll say it again: I absolutely ADORE this idea). So hopefully their on a roll or something and this girl will be good. This is what I think she should do:
1. Shorten Adult Swim; Stop complaining, they air every show like twice. By doing this they could air whey more shows, mostly classic shows during the sleeping hours. I wouldn't see them but at least they'd be on.
2. LESS FRICKIN MARATHONS!!! Once again, the less marathons, the more room for shows.
3. Uhhh.... I can't think of a third one... but If I had to say something it would be make Toonami hrs long for more actiony-goodness.

I don't see the marathons going away anytime soon. CN always runs them during the times the kids are home from school (Spring Break, Summer, etc). There monotonous, but they put butts in seats. As long as kids keep watching marathons, CN is keep doing them. But in the network's defense, they haven't been doing marathons all that much, except on Sunday afternoons when there's nothing else on but sports programming. Also, marathons can come in handy if you missed an episode the first time it aired.

Plus, networks do marathons for ratings/promotion.

Well all I'm saying is that it marathons waste a heck of a lot of time slots that could be used for other shows, creating a much more varied schedule, creating a network that has stuff for everyone! Durrr CN... Besides, the old CN never had marathons like every single week.
Oh, and I just thought of a number for the list of things she should aim at (though the toonami one still stands) Since this new sunday block thing (which is apparently the Epic Show), is coming, I hope this means that they won't have movies on EVERYDAY. Once again, this wastes time that could be filled up by other shows.

I doubt the chanel could have stuff for everyone. Where would the hamster lovers come in? :crying: Anyway, the reruns on Adult Swim actually gain ratings, and what adult classic animated shows could they put on their. Actually...maybe they can air those Fritz the Cat movies or something.

The Hamster Lovers would come in with Hamtaro!!! That is if they made room for the Toonami Morning Run, where I think it would work nicely. And I guess they could air AS reruns, but not as many as they do. It's got to be at least 3 times. And I wasn't thinking along the lines of Fritz the Cat; I was thinking more obscure H-B shows like Banana Splits or the Hair Bear Bunch, maybe the Tex Avery Show, Chuck Jones Show, Bob Clampett Show.

From what I remember of shows like the Bob Clampett and Tex Avery Show, they were probably the most adult programs off of AS that Cartoon Network ever aired. O, and ToonHeads could come on too, completely forgot about that. And none of these shows even air on Boomerang anymore, so I see no reason to cut down AS and add them on.

They can't shorten [adult swim] by much and keep it as its own network. When they added on Friday nights, they gained 7 hours, so they could shorten it by 1 hour a day and still keep it as its own network.

Why can't they??? I remember back when AS first began it ran from like 10:00 to 2:00 and it was only on Sundays too.

Back then [adult swim] was not considered to be its own network. It was considered to be [adult swim] on Cartoon Network. To be its own network, it must air something like 35 or 40 hours a week (please correct me if I'm wrong). As it is right now, it airs 49 hours, so they could take off one or two hours a night and still be its own network, but they couldn't do the massive cut back you're wishing for, and the reruns of the earlier shows make sense strategically (especially when the later ratings are oftentimes higher than the earlier ones), which is why I said they could cut off one hour a day- the hour currently occupied by Inuyasha reruns.

Ok, well than I guess they could cut off the one or two hours that they do. Plus the extra hours that could be taken off from time taken up by stuff like movies and marathons would leave open room as well.
