Didn't they do that last year?

It's gonna be a groove seeing Yogi's Space Race once again... :D

Why can't any of the 80's Yogi shows get a regular slot beyond the character of the month airings? I'd kill (well, not really, but you get my point) to get Yogi's Treasure Hunt in a time slot where it could have a few good runs.

Ya know what upsets me? The fact that there are no real schedule changes. No rotation of shows, no new bumps, no different classics to watch each month, and same old marthons. Nothing hardly changes! Pretty much same thing, year in and year out.

I know what you mean. As much as I love Justice League Unlimited, the constant reruns are getting a tad monotonous. But there isn't much else better on at 11pm, so JLU still wins by default. I'd like for Boomerang to run Meags XLR in JLU's place for a little while, but I know that's not going to happen.

I feel you but I guess thats what happens when you're running on a tight budget. :(

They could at least run the first two season of Justice League in the JLU rotation to stretch things out.

We had Pound Puppies, Paw Paws, and Dynomutt at the start of the year, but they were gone within two months. The same went for the Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley last fall. It's like the short lived 80's shows aren't too popular.

I wonder if we'll see the return of Fantastic Max and Pac-Man at some point.

In Boomerang's defense, there were only 13 episode of Ed Grimley in total, so they couldn't air that for too long anyway.

Definitely. They can't use "It's on DVD now" as an excuse not to air the JL episodes, since JLU is also available on DVD.

You hit the nail right on the head with what's wrong with Boomerang. It has become so BORING. The network has a lot of potiental (and a huge library of shows to play with) and could be turned around pretty easily, yet even today it still feels like the whole network is on auto-pilot.

My advice for Boomerang, if anyone out there is listening:

Dump those generic/repeatitive/obnoxious Hanna-Barbera toy bumpers that have been running since Day 1. How much effort would it be to create unique show bumps for each show? (While I am at it, I am also S-I-C-K of seeing those old Shorties/Groovies played to death every single day between shows... I don't think I could count how many times I've seen that "Quick Draw & Baba wipe out city crime" thing.)

Create some new fun/funny promos and creative new ways to package the cartoons in the vaults (take a look at some of the very funny old-school Cartoon Network promos on YouTube to get an idea what I'm talking about). "Cartoons Without a Clue" and "Boomeroyality" are a good start, but why not, say, devote Saturday nights to a rotating mix of '80s cartoons or Sunday nights to a mix of the classic theatrical shorts.

Do whatever it takes to get the LOONEY TUNES on TV again and then promote the heck out of the fact that Bugs, Daffy and Porky are back. Even if its just a fraction of the LT library, it would be better than nothing.

Just my two cents...

i would like some more variety in boomerang too. but i guess it still the best thing we have.

Yeah, but it was running EXTREMELY early on weekend mornings. I think it only got through two rotations before it was pulled. They could have held onto it a bit longer since it was only airing on weekends.

I mean, I thought Thundarr had the exact same amount of episodess, and it was airing seven days a week.

Thundarr the Barbarian had 2 seasons, IIRC. Although season 2 may have been new episodes combined with reruns, which would technically be only 1 and 1/2 seasons. I'd have to research that.

I, too, believe that Boomerang is ignoring too many of the cartoons available to it. The Saturday Morning Forever site has one episode of Jana of the Jungle (Warner Bros. should update that site, as well); why not give her a slot on Boomerang? And I shouldn't have to mention the 1980s Little Rascals series.

Only 21 episodes were produced of Thundarr. 13 in its first season, 8 in its second.

You forgot:
Yogi's Gang
Yogi's Galaxy Goofups
Yo, Yogi!
Laff-a-Lympics (Yogi Bear was a team member)

If memory serves, it was 21 eps total. 13 in the first season, 8 in the second. Boomerang is running Thundarr at 1 am (ET) 7 nights a week, which is wrong on a lot of counts, but then, Yogi's Gang had the same number of eps, I think, and that's got a morning slot.

What Da Boom's programmers need to see is that a lot of H-B series in the 70's were one-year wonders (Yogi's Gang, Butch Cassidy, et al), and should be used on weekends. With Hair Bear Bunch, at least, they got it right. Same goes for Top Cat, which also lasted just one year, but airs 2-3 times a day. Longer running shows should be given priority slots, like the Flintstones for example. That runs in the morning and in prime time. If you're going to devote an hour to MGM cartoons (Tom & Jerry + 30 minutes of other MGM shorts), do the same for Looney Tunes. Equal time, effendis.

I don't think he "forgot" about those shows. Using the term "includes" means that it's not necessary to list every single one of them individually. Yogi's Gang and Yogi's Space Race, I can see (Galaxy Goof-Ups was technically part of YSR, it didn't become it's own show until later), but I very much doubt that Boomerang will be airing Yo, Yogi!, even just for a month. Also, Laff-A-Lympics doesn't count as a Yogi Bear show. Yogi was in it, but he wasn't the central character. My guess is that Boomerang will air Laff-A-Lympics as a separate event to coincide with the Summer Olympics.

None of those shows are going to be in the marathons. The ones I mentioned are the only ones they're including.

That's where the shows with longer lifespans come in. Even if they're not digging into other studio's property, Boomerang already airs Smurfs and Superfriends, which have lengthy runs, but they also have sitting around collecting dust:

- Alvin & The Chipmunks
- Thundercats
- Silverhawks
- Beetlejuice
- Teen Titans
- Static Shock
- Batman Beyond (Air Zeta Project on Fridays in it's place)
- Scooby & Scrappy Doo (Everything from his introductory season through 13 Ghosts)
- X-Men: Evolution (What's keeping WB from airing this show ANYWHERE?)
- Pokemon (Give it one, maybe two timeslots, MAX)
- Bobobo Bo Bobobo (This show would be a perfect fit for the Boom)
- Challenge of the Gobots (Even if Hasbro owns the rights, shouldn't HB still be able to run the actual series since they made it? At one point, G.I. Joe aired on CN/Boomerang, so why not a show HB produced?)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (The new series, although I'd love to see them aquire the 80's show.)

Like that would stop them from airing a show, considering we have The Batman, JLU, and many Cartoon Cartoons on the channel these days.

Didn't the What a Cartoon Show air on Boomerang as well?

At any rate, I have no doubt that Powerpuff Girls will be the next Cartoon Cartoon to move over to Boomerang.

I don't see why not. I just wonder how well the first volume DVD set sold. They won't release a 2nd volume unless the first one sold really well.
