View Full Version : My Idea for Boomerang!

I like Boomerang. They air classics like Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera but I think it could be improved. If I'm not mistaken...the channel is owned by Warner Bros, so shouldn't the programmers take advantage of that. This is my idea for a great line-up:
WEEKDAYS:
6AM to 7AM - Hanna-Barbera cartoons like Yogi Bear, etc
7AM to 8AM - Looney Tunes
8AM to 2PM - Cartoons for Pre-School kids
2PM - The Flintstones
2:30PM - Scooby-Doo
3PM - Tiny Toon Adventures
3:30PM - Animaniacs
4PM - Pinky and The Brain
4:30PM - Dexter's Lab
5PM - Powerpuff Girls
5:30PM to 8PM: Boomer Action
8PM to 11PM: MGM, Paramount, etc.
11PM to 6AM: Obscure cartoons from the WB vault.
SATURDAY MORNING:
6AM to 7AM - Looney Tunes
7AM - The Flintstones
7:30 AM - Scooby-Doo
8AM - Tiny Toon Adventures
8:30AM - Animaniacs
9AM - Pinky and The Brain
9:30AM - Histeria!
10AM - Freakazoid
10:30AM - Batman: The Animated Series
11AM - Superman: The Animated Series
11:30AM - Samurai Jack
Then every few months they switch the schedule and add in new stuff to keep it fresh.

You know some people wouldn't be too keen on the idea of post 1990 WB/Amblin series such as Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid! and Histeria! airing on Boomerang. People are already complaining that canceled Cartoon-Cartoon shows such as Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo are "too recent" to be airing on the Boom. Superman TAS, Batman TAS and Pinky and the Brain are currently airing on Toon Disney's Jetix lineup, so don't expect to see them on the Boom anytime soon.
What I'd personally like to see happen is for Boomerang to start showing classic half hour specials; some syndicated stuff from the 1980s or even a few network specials from back in the day. Also, I'd like to see Cartoon Network's late show Toon Heads come to Boomerang.

"Old guy" is confusing Da Boom with CN. Easy to do.
The only thing I can recommend for Da Boom is to pick up some additional 80's anime to go with Voltron. Star Blazers comes to mind immediately, as does Robotech, provided another network (i.e. Anime Channel) doesn't already have them tied up. Other than that, expand the Boomeraction block into prime time (have it start at 10, and replace Johnny Bravo with something like, say, Batman Beyond?), so Voltron can be included.

I honestly don't understand the complain. I love Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, MGM, and Max Flecher as much as anyone else but you can't have 24/7 of that. You have to make it more interesting with other content as well. And the suggestion, hobbyfan made about adding other `80s shows to go along with Voltron is easier said then done. WB would actually have to get the rights to those shows. With the `90s stuff I suggested they don't have to worry about that because they already own it.

I completely agree, although others may object to it. Every show is going to be considered "classic" somewhere down the line. And if Cartoon Network isn't interested in airing these shows anymore and if Turner/Time Warner won't release them on DVD, it's better that they air on Boomerang than not air at all.

But a bunch of stuff you said, Disney is currently airing them, or has the rights to air them. Until their contract runs out, Boomerang can't air those. Also, they also have most (if not all) of the MGM cartoons. It's not just WB remember. It's Time Warner (both Turner Broadcasting and Warner Brothers).

Jetix is doing a horrible job with Batman, Superman, and Pinky and The Brain. They treat it like they treated the Saban/Fox Kids era of Power Rangers. They only air a handful of episodes instead of the entire thing. Boomerang would actually air all the episodes.
Until their contract runs out, Boomerang can't air those.
It doesn't work that way. A show can air on multiple channels. Look at Home Improvement for example. It airs on both TBS and Nick. Two channels owned by two different companies. Also, in regards to Batman, Jetix is only airing the Fox Kids episode. They don't air the Kids WB episodes .

Though the schedule looks nice for the most part, I have a few beefs with it:
-One Piece should not be on there; it's too recent/doesn't feature a "classic" cartoon character.
-EEnE, GAOBAM and Courage are all doing well on CN; no reason to move them to Boomerang.
-Harvey Birdman might be a bit vulgar for Boomerang. Try pre-Adult Swim Space Ghost Coast to Coast or Cartoon Planet.

Also, 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo only ran for a single season, and as such, there were only 13 episodes made. Not enough to air every day. You should consider changing that to simply Scooby Doo, which could be any SD series.

No Toonami or [adult swim] shows should ever air on The Boom, IMHO.
