This should be interesting. Last week Shu discovered he had a special shadow power, and now he must decide which side he will join. I think it's obvious which side he'll go with, but the interactions behind friends and new comers should be quite interesting.

Yeah ever main character join the good side and not the bad side.
Well Silverbolt, a main character on Beast Wars come season 2, did originally join the Predacons. Raven was a villian until the series finale of Zoids Chatotic Century/ Guardian Force, despite being a main character and rival to Vaan. Also, later on Digimon Data Squad Thomas will join our crazy Professor friend and fight against Thomas and Yoshi. So the answer is yes, main characters do join the bad side, but they usually eventually end up on the side of good.

Yeah that right but I Doubt shu will choose the evil side in episode 2, if that happen then I will just laught and say this character make up his mind to0 fast.

Well, he chose the good side. Obviously.
I'm enjoying this show. Not too bad as far as fantasy/adventure anime go.
Not sure about edits, since I haven't seen the original, but I believe that a good amount of the music was replaced again.

I missed a few tidbits of the first episode series premiere (TOONAMI, not CN's "premiere" of Blue Dragon). I saw the first and second episode this morning and I do enjoy watching it. It's not one of my favorite shows in the world, but I will continue to watch it. It sucks that last week was the only week that Toonami got a premiere episode, now it's just a rerun.... and I saw it this morning.-_-. I will be sure to sllep in next week since I'm all caught up, I prefer to watch it on Toonami.

Actually, it wasn't a Toonami premiere last week either. It first premiered Friday, March 28th at 11:30 AM as part of Beasts Unleashed.

Well, yeah. The Friday and Toonami airing were stealth premieres. Today was the "official" premiere. Don't ask me why they did that, though.

Yeah, it's kinda weird. They did the same thing with OOJH with 3 airings before the real premiere.

If you're not interested, why'd you bother posting at all?
Barbara Goodson is getting better as Zola. It's just hard getting used to someone who plays so many old lady characters playing a spry young girl. Still too old-sounding, though.
And Ninay is a really silly bad guy name.

Okay now that its the second episode I can safely say that I like nearly everyone's voice except for Shu and Blue Dragon (sucks cause they are main characters). Shu sounds really annoying and Blue Dragon sounds a little bland but that's just my opinion. Everyone else, especially Zola, pretty good. Not FUNimation good, but...oh...let's say Zatch Bell good

Yes, sadly.
EDIT: Okaaaaaaaay.... when it's serious, it gets all censored. Yet when it's comedic, it's untouched....

I hope they don't do this to Naruto Shippuuden Season 3.

Finally, the "opponent waits while enemy takes forever to transform" cliche is given a twist. The enemy transforms and gets vaporized a few seconds later. Awesomeness.

lol @ Kluke
Now this looks like a fun show. Caught this episode and a little miffed that I missed the opener.
I like the character designs and some of the animation sequences. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of the series before this. Looking forward to next week.

Anyone wondering about the music count? Since I missed the first 3 minutes, I can't give you guys an accurate number. But from after that point, there was only a single piece of music retained. During the scene where Zola initializes her dragon on the army of bots. What's funny, is right after this piece, ViZ replaced a piece of Uematsu's score, which was the regular battle music from the game. (...They seem to like removing Nobuo Uematsu's music, since the next piece was his...)
Okay, edit list time.
- Okay, today's episode title isn't the same as the original. The original title, Aoki Chikara (Blue Power), is renamed to "A Fateful Decision".
- The script... Was a little bit less than accurate. Most of the main plot points were kept, but some of the dialogue was messed with a bit.
- There may be some scene snippits, as the original and dub kept loosing sync. But it could be induced lag due to two video processes going on.
- As Mentioned before, Zola attacking Shu was censored with a long inpact blow. What you don't see if Zola karate chopping Shu's neck to knock him out cold. There... really wasn't any reason to cut this scene.
- Eyecatcher cut out, like last time.
- ...I'm actually beginning to wonder something. Some of the replaced BGM sounds very familiar. I'm wondering if ViZ is also resorting to using some of the other tracks made for the series. Most I can tell are newly composed, but the scene where Jiro and Zola are talking alone in the Cabin, the piece of BGM sounds very familiar...
- I'm surprised I noticed this. When Shu pushes Kluke away from him after she hugs him, while trying to comfort him, there is a sound effect of Shu pushing her away, but it's missing in the dub... Might just be an error.
- The Bot's gunfire is changed to Lazers. Sonic X anyone?
- You know the scene that Shu farts? Well, ViZ removes the gas coming out of Shu, and removes the panout, and quickly cuts to the next shot rather than having it pan out.
- On... An odd note, it looks like Cartoon Network cut out the last 10 seconds. On Episod 1, the panout with a shot of the dragon, with the logo on the right screen, was retained. On this episode, the screen goes to do it, but it quickly cuts to black and goes to the next episode preview. Wierd...
- As with episode 1, the entire preview was changed. Kinda of makes me made, as the next episode preview for this episode was halarious, and the Narrator was getting upset that the group kept talking on and on.

Interesting episode,
Shu's Blue Dragon is awesome:D, but can't be controlled which kind of reminding me of Ash's Charizard from Pokemon which one day Shu will control his shadow power.
Jiro's Minotaur is awesome as well on wanting to stop the Blue Dragon.
Whole backstory flashback was interesting on how it all began with the shadow powers & stuff.
Kluke is so cute & hilarious:p when she saw the cool bad robots & their cool designs & when she beats up on the guys.
Zola is really strong with her shadow power which she kicks butt, but was pretty lousy with her not caring about Shu after when Jiro had a soft spot for the boy.
Shu will make the decision & join since Zola is correct whether he was confused at first.
Shu's friends are hilarious with them being crybabies.

I've been watching this show mostly to see how well it relates to the game.
The TV series isn't just different, it's AU-different. It certainly stands on its own, but on the other hand, you can just barely see hints of the game's plot. You get the feeling Nene is waiting for the kids' powers to build. It's subtle, but it's there. Still, I think people who play the game are going to be confused about the happenings in the TV series and vice verse.
Though I guess if I sit and think about it long enough, it's pretty much the same with Pokemon, isn't it?

Not bad...but this just kept reminding me of DBZ with it's artwork and all.The two little boys looked like Gohan and Trunks, that 16-17-year-old girl looked like one of the androids off DBZ,the green-eyed girl looked like a perky Bulma and the rest of the cast (excluding the shadow beings) looked like your 2nd rate background characters.About that Shuu kid,he seems a little too overzealous to me and his dragon seems all right. The shadows themselves are fairly impressive as they rely on their human counterparts to have all of their emotions, etc. in check in order to battle right.Aside from the annoying Shuu fanbase that follows him around (which is very annoying at they slow everything down) the show isn't bad.

I really enjoyed this episode. There's something about the animation that really draws me in. Toriyama's a true mastermind. I'm glad that Shu and Kluke decided to follow along with Jiro and Zola. I'm expecting the next episode to be great.

I found this episode really cool. I think ill enjoy this show, only thing I don't like is all the random edits, it's getting really annoying and When Zola attacks Shu why is there a edit of colors? I thought that was when adults attack children, but isnt Zola like a teenager? I guess america has to change things a lot

I will say this: The part where Zola goes "You think I'm just going to give you time to transform?" and blows the robot away just after it fused together was awesomeness in its purest entity.

Ah, Viz. We can always trust you...to be untrustworthy.
Pretty much. Yeah, I find it so weird how they'll give some shows better treatment, such as Naruto, and leave everything else like this. Well, I personally don't mind most edits anyway, but just something that it really interesting to notice and think about it.
Anyway, a pretty good follow up episode. No surprise that Shu can't control his shadow. Being just released and being that powerful, of course Shu won't be able to handle it right off the bat. Despite how hard it was to fight Blue Dragon, all it took was for Zola to knock him out. The side story about the history of their world and this new enemy they have to fight was pretty cool.
I could understand why Shu would be sad with going away from his friends and his village. While Zola did bring up good points on how the village will just continue to be attacked, she was being a bit too harsh with him. When Kluke was hugging Shu and he and all of his friends were blushing, I got a feeling that there would be a pairing for these two in the future. It was kind of cute though.
It makes sense that Shu would want to protect the village from the next attack. Again, no surprise that he couldn't summon Blue Dragon on his own. I also had a feeling that he would make a bodily gas sound in his attempt. I saw that coming a mile away. It was completely awesome to see Zola use her shadow to defeat the monster. I agree with everyone that her choice to attack the monster right after it had finished transforming, instead of doing the usual wait as the enemy transforms to attack them, was epic. That's always been a completely weird thing with anime logic.
It was nice that Shu decided to go and travel with them to save his village. I had a feeling that Kluke would join them. I wonder if she'll actually have a shadow too or doing something to help the plot along more than just cheering Shu from the sidelines. For some reason, the previews have felt a bit weak to me. It was a pretty good episode. This seems like a fun series to watch. I'm going to stick to watching it on Toonami since I would like to have a reason to watch that block now and this seems like a good enough show to keep watching for now.

Who cares, it was different from the norm. Would you wait in real life for some guy to bring out a gun before you run away? So why should she wait for him to transform when she has time to attack. :D

It's just a joke, because in like almost all anime's (especially DBZ) they always wait for there opponent to charge there attack or fuse. Which makes no sense if it was real life.

Though there was a good heap of exposition in this one, I am glad in a sense it's made clear here what Zola and Jiro's objectives are before stretching that any further. In this case we find out that they are looking for the Blue Dragon and descendants of the other shadow wielders of old to join them in taking down the forces of Nene before he captures the descendants to make more evil fake shadows for his own forces to enslave the world even more so. Sounds like a decent enough quest. And though I was sort of annoyed at Shu being so clueless about the whole thing I did like him finally coming along at the end as a way of saying he'll help his village. And Kluke joining along since she's actually developed (not in that way people) the most out of Shu's otherwise pointless friends and every DB type storyline needs a Bulma (Well Sand Land didn't but I don't think that had any real female characters in it). Zola continues to be the coolest character on the show not giving into the stupid comedy anime cliches and very cooly disposing of all of those mech warriors Kluke kept fawning over (thinking about it Kluke's like a bad mix of Bulma and Winry from Full Metal Alchemist). As well as having a very good line about attacking before they have a chance to fully form. (Really why can't other anime characters use that logic?) So with the gang all here and gathering on the journey we have a pretty good ep. I am glad this is sticking around on Toonami even if it will soon be joined by that horror I won't even try and mention here.

I got a chance to watch Blue Dragon: The shadows Come Forth and A Faithful Decision.
It seemed at first that the showed seemed really childish. Low level humor and stuff like that. Especially when Shuu was just going around hitting people with that stick of his. But after the fight scene started, it got a lot better, more serious. I really enjoyed both episodes. But it was kind of average for me, nothing that really made this show stand out from the others.

Yeah, that was great! This show looks a lot more promising than "World of Quest", the other new fantasy show on television. Stuff like this actually makes "Blue Dragon" funny.
However, I really did not like when the village elder said something like, "If we don't resist, they won't hurt us.". I wish the bad guys had really laid into them right after that. It's that kind of dialogue that warps young, impressionable minds into stupid beliefs like that one.
Anyways, good show so far. I never even heard of it but my TiVo picked it up for me. Nice! I haven't decided if this show is for me or not yet but I'll keep watching for now.
