One of my final assignment for my poetry class was to make a slideshow/movie with Windows Movie Maker for a song. OK, so far so good. I was having trouble ripping the song, and eventually did it as a WAV file from iTunes. Now I cannot complete the next required step, which is loading it into Google Video online. I'm guessing that I converted it into the wrong format, and I have no idea how to get it into the right one. Sorry that it sounds convoluted, but I did the assignment and now it won't load, and being a wee bit frustrated, I'm asking for help.

A little more info might be helpful: where exactly are you running into a problem? Is there a particular error message you're getting? What format is your video currently in? Can you play it okay in a standalone movie player? Have you tried encoding it in a different format?

I can play it in Movie-Maker just fine, but neither Google Video nor YouTube seemed to allow me to load it. Unfortunately do not know how to encode it in a different format, which was actually my question :p.

I've never used Movie Maker, so I don't know the kinds of compression it will allow, but surely your problem is either filesize or an unacceptable compression.

YouTube requires a maximum of 100MB for the filesize. You need to find the proper codecs that will drop the size down while preserving image quality.

I also recommend encoding the audio at something relatively low, like 24khz/mono, uncompressed.

In the Export menu, where you choose the destination folder for the final movie, is there an Options box somewhere around the OK and Cancel buttons? That's where most video programs offer you the options of changing the codec, pixel dimensions, audio, etc.

If you are absolutely clueless on how to proceed next I can help you encoding it. How big is your file size? Right click on the video and chose Properties, and tell me the file size. If its under 100Mb, upload the file to http://mediafire.com/ I will download it from there, encode it to proper format and file size, reupload it to http://mediafire.com, and then you can download it and upload it to youtube.
