I haven't heard anything one way or the other, but are opening titles on the new Smurf DVD's the originals, or the syndicated "Smurfs' Adventures" ones?

I picked up the DVD just the other day and am proud to announce that the DVD does indeed restore the original intro.

The Season 1 intro is cheesy and care-bearish as all hell (not quite as normal as the remaining seasons) but it's great to see the thing finally restored proper. If this keeps up, by the time we get to Season 2 we'll probably see the intro with Johann and Peewit restored.

Not only that, but they're the original NBC broadcasts, meaning most of the episodes are packaged in the 1 hour format.

And yet, WHV Marketing decided to hold off on the documentary by making S1V1 instead of a S1 boxset. -50 points.

You know what this means, right?

Pardon my ignorance, but no, what does it mean?

WB just thinks 2 disc sets will sell better, and appeal more to families than the more expensive, 4 disc sets. That's why the Popeye releases are being cut down to 2 discs, and the All New Superfriends Hour is being released in volumes as opposed to one big set.

And if the 2-Disc sets DON'T end up selling better thand 4-disc sets, What happens then? Does Warner just pull the plug on Cartoon DVD releases entirely

Yeah. Most likely.

Why haven't we gotten more Ed, Edd and Eddy sets? Or word on more Powerpuff Girls, Billy and Mandy or Fosters DVDs.

You can't depend on anything nowadays.

Pretty much what the above posters said here. We need to drive up sales of this DVD set so WHV can release the next volume. I know what I'm doing next time I'm at Best Buy.

To be honest, outside of seeing E,E & E and Billy and Mandy at Meijer's and Foster's and PPG at Toy R Us, both on rare occasions, I've never seen these shows as widely released- or promoted- as much as Ben 10 or the older HB shows are.

Now when will Warner Bros release DVD's of Shirt Tales and Monchichi's?

When Nickelodeon has Shirttales and Monchichi movies in the works. Seriously, that's about half the reason the Smurfs are on disk, not just the fan clammoring.

So far so good. this DVD set seems to be a really great seller so far. I think one store has it in its top 20 DVD sales, and the sunday after the release, a Target I frequent seemed to be sold out of them.

My Target, and Wal-Mart, were both sold out the first week. I got mine last Friday, but guess what? Target was sold out AGAIN when I went back there this morning.

I got my copy yesterday. Here are the gaffes I found so far:

1> No Side B on Disc 2 (confusing)
2> Cartoon episode "The Smurfette" jumps ahead by a few minutes.

Has anyone else had this problem?

EDIT: Third Gaffe: No opening titles on the first episode of Disc 2, not even after pressing search backward on the remote. Can I call WHV and request a replacement disc?
