I know that the odds of this ever happening are slim and nill but are the copyrights that Hasbro has over the Gobots preventing the show from coming out on DVD?
That is the one cartoon of my past that I would like to have put out as a DVD set. But it's taking too long to get it out there, if it ever gets out there, and I'd like to know what's holding it up? The last time I saw it was on CHCH TV 11 Hamilton when Gobots Battle of the Rocklords came out and that was over 20 years ago.
I've been watching COTGB on You Tube but it's not the same as watching it on TV.
What are the chances that the show will come out on DVD within the next year?

Probally if fan interest is high.
Tell me? Are you a fan?

I'd love to see CotGB out on DVD myself, but it's chances of coming out within the next year are extremely thin, considering WB's just NOW starting to dip into it's 80's properties (The 80's Superfriends shows and The first season of the Smurfs). I'd expect the bigger properties to get released first before something as obscure as Gobots is considered.

Yes I am a fan of the Gobots. My interest in the Gobots was high when I was 8.
I was pretty bummed when HB decided to drop it, I'm not sure whose idea it was to drop it but it was a really stupid thing to do, and I wasn't happy about it.
It went back to air on CHCH TV Hamilton twice before they dropped cartoons altogether in favour of more crappy stuff such as court shows.
If it went back to TV I'd be even happier especially with the recent advent of Teletoon Retro here in Canada. But it's probably never going to happen since YTV has, :p YUCK, Transformers Animated. :p

What we love you to do is to email Hasbro about releasing Gobots on DVD. Then if that doesn't work. You can start a petition to get people to release Gobots on DVD.

WB doesn't own the show. Hasbro does. And Paramount (before their partnership ends), would release it.

He's right. Hasbro owns the intellectual rights to the Gobots name. Hopefully Paramount won't renew it's partnership deal with Hasbro and then the Gobots can finally be released on DVD as they should be.
Do you have any idea when the Paramount/Hasbro partnership is supposed to end John?
