Last year Warner Bros. released 1977 Filmation New Adventures of Batman on DVD, but how come Warner Bros. is yet to release the 1968 Filmation Adventures of Batman cartoon series on DVD? If there is a 1968 Filmation Batman cartoon series Volume 1 DVD, will it include as extra features:
a) A "Batman in 1968" featurette (similar to the "Superman in 1966" featurette in the New Adventures of Superman DVD set)?
b) An profile on Casey Kasem, the voice of Robin in Filmation's 1968 Batman?

If anything it seems like a rights problem. Ironically, the only 1968 Filmation Batman segment available on DVD is on the Sesame Street Old School Volume 1 (http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Old_School:_Volume_1) as a small segment that aired on Sesame Street.

How would it be a rights problem? WB owns the characters, and so they own the rights to Filmation's animated 1968 "The Adventures of Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder" series.

I would think the '66 Batman would be put out alongside the rest of the '66 Superman (and the 3 episode DC Heroes...please please please!!!). Superboy is a lost cause, I think, after the repeated lawsuits from the Seigel family.

ok, hear is the deal-e o. according to WB they are finally releasing the plastic man comedy/adventure hour on dvd no word if it will include the never aired pilot from the folks that brought you batman:tas. it would be a cool bonus feature. also WB is releasing the zeta project in 2009. hopefully we'll see static shock right behind it. it will be nice to finish off all the dc animated universe shows. the 2nd half of the all-new superfriends hour will be out in late january. that still leaves 4 seasons to go. pick up the pace WB. wonder woman"s animated direct to video is out in february. WB also stated it will release the remainder of the filmation library although no specific details were given i would assume they were refering to the 1968 batman & remaing superman episodes. dont hold your breath for superboy or any of the shazam shows live action or animated. for those of you with an x-box you can down load the 1968 batman 17 episodes , as well as the 1973 superfriends(1st season) 16 episodes.

Actually, Plastic Man went for 90 minutes in season 1, since you have to account for Rickety Rocket, Fangface, & Mighty Man and Yukk, along with Plas.
FWIW, if Warner wanted to release these cartoons in chronological order, the 60's Filmation stuff would've been out a long time ago, like within the last 2 years at the very least (40th anniversary of the Superman series). Then they could start on Super Friends.

Hi folks, first post on here so hello!
I've got the WB UK vhs of "The Adventures of Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder" so I'm sure they could easily get a dvd out if the fan pressure was strong enough! It only has a handful of episodes on there, but it's still a nice little collection. It accompanies the WB UK Superpowers vhs releases that came out in the 80's covering the 60's series of Superman, Superboy and Aquaman. I didn't realise there had been legal problems over Superboy, but I had wondered about a dvd release. I guess that won't be happening for a while!
The Superman vhs, does have several episodes that aren't on the current dvd release of "The New Adventures iof Superman, so that's nice too.
