It was kinda obvious who was going to ask this, wasn't it?
Seeing as it's less than a week to the big day on Saturday, does anyone have any plans to celebrate?
As for me? I'm in the parade here in Baltimore.

Me, I'll just be doing the former. I always do that in honor of my Irish friends. I'll also have the day off and I'll be watching the St. Patrick's Day parade that they'll be having here in New York.

I live in a heavy Irish community, so I can get away with something like that. Also my brother trying to get some of that "Green Beer" too bad I'm underage, and not that fond of Alcohol to begin with.

Interestingly, this year all the St. Patrick's Day celebrations will occur this coming Friday, March 14, 2008. The reason is simple: March 17, 2008 occurs during the Holy Week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday this year, and Catholic authorities are discouraging any St. Patrick's Day celebrations on March 17, 2008.

Dammit, Now I have to make sure that I have a few more green shirts so the day doesn't slip on me. Now I'm confused, do I pinch them on the 14th or the 17th. I consider myself a man of honor when it comes to that.

It's either St. Patrick's Day or Paddy's Day. Something got lost in the translation of the slang. :)

While this is true, the day itself is actually on Saturday, not Friday; although to add to the confusion, the parade here in Baltimore is on Sunday and at home, the parade's on Monday. Ah, I'll just celebrate all weekend.

softball = drinking, that's why it's called the beer league!:p
As for me, there's an Irish pub just around the corner from my bldg so I'll pop in for a shot of Bailey's before heading home...on foot.
But seriously, this "holiday" is just another commercial exploitation of the masses. A toast to capitalism. Next up: Cinco de Mayo, another adopted drinking holiday. Pretty soon we'll be adopting Bastille Day as an excuse to get tanked.

Seriously, despite being Irish myself, I don't drink at all. So St. Patrick's Day is nothing special to me. I often forget to wear green and end up getting pinched by all my friends, family, and co-workers. :p

I just got an e-mail from the college notifying us that the celebration is indeed this Friday, the day after the end of the quarter. That makes it even worse, since the college kids who usually have left town before St. Patty's Day are either going to join in the party or get caught up in it anyway trying to leave the city.

For the non-drinkers out there, just remember that it is only very recently that Paddy's Day became associated with drinking. For years, the pubs in Ireland were closed; the only places you could get a drink were on a train or a dog show that went on every year in Dublin.

It's the celebration that's important, the booze is second.Tell that to every single resident of Savannah, GA. If there was no booze, there would be a quick parade and then everyone would go home. (I'd prefer that, frankly.)

My last name is O'Connor. So, as ye may be able ter guess, tis' green I'll be wearin'. No alcohol though. Not only am I only 20 years old, but I'm half Irish and half German. Alcoholism and schizophrenia run in my family. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to even touch alcohol. I'll probably watch my copy of The Quiet Man though :D!

Its always a crazy weekend when it comes to St Patty's. In Scranton Hillary Clinton will be at the parade this year so there will be alot more tourists, the city is expecting at least 120,000 people. Luckily, I stocked up on booze beforehand just in case it gets too rowdy to deal with.
Punching every single person who makes a bad attempt at speaking in an Irish accent to me. Man, if I haven't gotten sick of that already...

Let me be the first to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
In honor of the unofficial holiday, I’m wearing my “Fellin’ Lucky” shirt. It was a gift I got a few years back, and it’s my favorite T-Shirt of all time.
I’ll probably make some shamrock cookies with Green icing when I get home form school today. I’ll share them with you all virtually. ;)
Happy Green Day Everyone!

In San Antomio, you sure are.
But then again, I think our city looks for any reason to party and get drunk off their rockers.
Anyway, I'll be downtown with friends causing shenanigans today. And wearing green to avoid pinching.

That is weird because my calendar little symbol for St. Patrick's day was a mug of beer. You would think that it would be a shamrock.

Hm, what did I do today this lovely St. Patrick's Day?
Stayed home from school sick.
Uh, I ate a green skittle though? Does that count for anything?
Oh well.
I remember back in elementary school when all the kids would jump around talking about how Irish they were and I'd just be like "uh... I'm not Irish at all.. but I'm Polish! That's cool right!?"

And you have my pity sir, as the legal drinking age in Ireland is 18.
As for me, I was in the parade and then spent the rest of the evening at the James Joyce pub. I had to turn down a lot of drink offers. :(

Well, a couple of my classmates said I should go to the gas station and get myself some cigs. T was a good thought, but I’m just not a smoker (nor will I ever be).
Come to think of it, I can’t really see myself drinking either. Oh well. Even if I don’t get to experience the true feeling of being massively drunk on St. Patty’s Day, I still will be able to enjoy my birthday.
