Well here we go again..

It's the 2nd Sunday in March (March 9th, 2008) and it's time once again for those of you folks who have it), to get ready for the fun that is known as "Daylight Savings Time"...

Daylight Saving Time - for the U.S. and its territories - is NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and by most of Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona).

Of course, Indiana, which used to be split with a portion of the state observing DST and the other half not, is now whole. In the past, counties in the Eastern Time Zone portion of the state did not observe DST. They were on standard time year round. A state law was passed in 2005 that has the entire state of Indiana observing DST beginning in April 2006.

So it's time tonight to shift the clocks ahead one hour (Spring ahead) so that 2 am becomes 3 am..)

Oh and if you haven't set your clocks ahead.. please do so.. Don't want you folks to be late for work come Monday...

so when does this end? Not until November 2nd, 2008.. (The first Sunday in November).

So here we go.. the usual yearly scramble we call..

Daylight savings time..

Ugh! I hate the time change. I don't know why we can't just do away with it. It's pointless.

In this era of precisely computer controlled environments, DST is pointless. It's like its own little self-sustaining industry, DST.

I think I know who came up with the idea for DST... it was this guy:

And to think.. He's running for President this year..
I mean if a guy like 'Killface' can help prevent 'Global Warming', he more than likely was the culprit behind DST..

DST - a tradition that has long out lived its usefulness. It was created to give farmers more sunlight to work with, but now only scews everyone up, including those farmers. I long for the day DST disappears, but for now, the clocks have been edited.

I agree with the rest of you that DST is useless. As I said in another posting about the change to ST (Standard Time) back in November 2007, that this
time change should not be extended, but reduced. Have our clocks set ahead one hour on the weekend of summer and set them back on the weekend of Fall. Like I said it's NOT saving us anything, it's waisting everything.

THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one who could think of something good about DST. Though perhaps setting clocks back or forward doesn't affect what time the sun sets.

That also screws up your sleep cycle, doesn't it? It does for me and I hated the fact that I lost an hour playing Brawl aswell because of it.

It takes me a week or two to get use to the change in time. Now excuse me, I have to change my clocks that aren't connected to a computer source.

I've already adjusted. Some of you guys really need a week or more to get used to losing one hour?

No, I just slept in.

Not by one, but two hours.

If you want to blame someone for DST, blame Benjamin Franklin and some British guy named William Willett for coming up with the idea.

Greeeat. I'll be thinking it's one o'clock when it's actually two o'clock for the next few weeks. >_>

Just immerse yourself in something for a few hours, long enough to lose track of time and you won't even miss that lost hour.

I've been uploading songs to my ipod non-stop since 9pm last night. I don't even miss that hour.

My internal chronometer syncs up instantly to the local time. When I went out to California for Thanksgiving and then when I came back to the East Coast, it didn't phase me much at all.

I look forward to DST. It gives an extra hour every evening and I like sunlight.

On the other hand, it's finals weekend and I could have really used that extra hour for either sleep or work. >_<

Agree with you guys, DST is nothing but a pointless nuisance nowadays.

Yes, now that the US is out of synch with Europe, I have to remember that we're only four hours behind for the next three weeks.

Which means that until November, Arizona is now a part of the Pacific time zone. And the other part of the year it's in the Mountain time zone. You guys should make up your minds and choose one to join already. :) Confusing, but for summer travel, it's great to know that California, Nevada, and Arizona all have the exact same time.

I'm torn about DST. On the one hand, losing an hour of sleep kills me and I couldn't sleep in this morning. But on the other hand, having an extra hour of sunlight at night always improves my mood. I think the latter outweighs the former, so I don't really mind ;)

Man I think I got too used to the winter hours. I came home today from work and it was still light out, it felt really strange, as if I left work early when I shouldn't have. And I really did not want to get up this morning, I was kind of a blob all day.

Actually Tommy right now, there's a double blessing for us folks in "Zonie" (or rather Arizona).

1. Now when tne bars in Yuma, Arizona, close at 2am (Any night), the drinkers in Yuma can't go over to Winterhaven, California, and drink that extra hour they would if they were on MST. Plus the fact that now that we're on the same zone as PST, anyone who thinks they can drive from Arizona to California and get beer at any convience store can't (Saves even the folks in Laughlin the problems that Bullhead City Drunks coming over and buying beer. And,

2. TV Watching Gets easier as now we are on PDT/MST and thus we are on the same schedule as the folks in Vegas..(Family Guy at 11pm , Kim Possible at 12:30 am, in bed by 1 am.. Seems easy enough to remember.

3. The only down side? You have to get up and go to work 1 hour earlier..(Your usually 9-5 shift means now it's 8-4)...but hey, we get home an hour earlier so we can soak in the hot tub an extra 60 minutes..

Anyway you slice it? Arizona gets the most perks. Less Beer Drinking, More TV Watching.. and even.. the same amount of sleep less the 1 hour early for work.. 2 for 3.. not a bad say so if I say so myself.

*sigh* This is sooooo hard. We lose an hour of sleep. Plus, I had a morning swim meet on Sunday, so I had to wake up at 6… which felt like 5. I was so tired yesterday, I ended up taking a 3 hour nap.

Yesterday I slept in later than I wanted. And since my sleeping schedule has been thrown off, today I'm absolutely exhausted. It'll take at least a few more days for me to get used to this.

Ugh, I hate DST

And here I was just getting used to waking up with the sun shining...only to go right back to waking up when the sun isn't near up.

But on the bright side (literally), the days are longer! That's always a plus.

:p You guys all act like this the first time we've ever had a daylight saving time. LOL

I personally love it. I always look forward to having more daylight hours and not having to drive home as it's getting dark. It's always a wonderful sign that Spring is right around the corner. Time to put away the sweaters and break out and Spring clothes. It's really my favorite time of the year.

And by Sunday afternoon I had put the missing hour behind me. It's really no big deal.

I finally got all the clocks in our house set. My basement clock was still an hour off last night, but I was too lazy to fix it until this morning. Now I got to find my Pokemon Gold version and set the game clock to DST. :p
