Am I right to assume the character's drawings are based on The Scooby Gang?

Looks a bit more like something from Wait Till Your Father Gets Home.

I've actually seen Dinky Dog; it ran as an added attraction on H-B's All-New Popeye Hour on CBS. The concept and designs were reminiscent of Scooby only in that both were H-B shows starring dogs. That's where the similarities end. Dinky Dog was more of a "comedy of errors" type show; most of the gags revolved around the enormous Dinky's weight and height problems. DD seemed to be inspired by Marmaduke; It wasn't a mystery-solving/crime-solving show like Scooby-Doo.

Dinky Dog was, for lack of better definition, derivative of Marmaduke, but don't you think this is the inspiration, in turn, for the Beethoven movies (& subsequent cartoon)?

Ah ok, just I thought the girl looks ALOT like a Velma, just down in a different 'style', the other has simularities to Daphne, the dog looks like Scooby just a different breed and the way he's jumping on the man looks like a Scooby/Shaggy relationship!

^The girls were Sandy (the bubbly blonde who absolutely adored Dinky) and her more logical sister Monica (the one with the glasses whose attitude toward Dinky was closer to 'tough love'). In the case of the man, it was quite the opposite: Uncle Dudley (the man in question) couldn't stand Dinky. He was basically a Basil Faulty-esque character-a pompous fellow who was regularly cut down and the most frequent target of Dinky's disasters. (Incidentally, Dudley's voice was based on the guy who says "Weeeeell!"-I'm blanking on his name right now.)

Ahhhh! My bad!

No need for apologies. If you've never heard of the show, how could you be expected to know anything about it? ;)

Thanks! It's just the pic looked so much like the gang I thought it might be another show trying to make money off the Scooby Doo formula!

That would be Frank Nelson, who in fact was the voice of Uncle Dudley.

^Ah. I was never sure if that was the actual Frank Nelson, or just a sound-alike. Thanks, hobbyfan. :)

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. At least Jakie Joseph did her best in that show.

The animation was like "Roman Holidays" and the old Football guy toon (forget the name).

I believe you mean Where's Huddles?, 1970.

And I thought Dinky Dog was owned by Turner Entertainment/WB? Guess I was wrong.
