The Annual Toon Zone Awards: 2007 Edition - WINNERS!

Though there were those that tried to do this before, Mr. Pedro is known for being the creator of the Toon Zone Member Awards. Starting in 2004 (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=130135) with his goofy idea to recognize some beloved people in the Toon Zone [Yes, there is a space! /old TZ meme] community, Pedro created something we'd remember and enjoy participating in for years to come [see 2005's thread here (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=159509), and 2006's here (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=186567)].

After I begged and pleaded, my good friend let me take over his baby this year. I learned that it was a bigger challenge then I thought, but it was still cool to do. And luckily, I had KuwabaraTheMan to help me out. Due to certain circumstances, he won't be able to help me finish this.

Thus, it is that time of year again. After dealing with a lot of personal stuff, as well as TZ based issues, this no longer has to be prolonged. Know why? Because I don't care anymore. But to stop some people from bugging me [/coughsIshtarcoughs], I've decided to just truck on. So let us begin!

Next, Best/Worst Spam Thread presented by veemonjosh-

Spam threads have always been a hilarious staple on Toon Zone. From DuelistGoku's toaster ads to Matt Wilson's "lunch, brb", they've been our breakaway from the harshness of forum rules.

Last year, a member asked the simple question "Can you fly a plane using farts for an engine?", which we turned it into one of the best spam threads ever (for the lulz, of course). However, due to the thread, purposely turning threads into spam was outlawed on the form, forcing people to create new ways of being spammy.

To which they did.

Some people this year (*cough*Kuwa*cough*) posted over and over again that they were leaving in the Comings and Goings thread. Other people witnessed the hilarity of a member named Owner trying to promote crappy fanboards and blame Super Sonic for going advanced on him. There was also Ms. Jarrel, the best teacher to ever be on Toon Zone, teaching us about having sex with biker boyfriends in sheds involving hammers. And lastly, there was CN's 100 episode Naruto marathon, which gave birth to Uzumaki Hansen and Orochikitty.

However, only one spam thread can come up on top. This year's winner is... any owner thread!

While on the topic of curious behavior... why don't we see who won Best n00b 2007? The lovely J'onn J'onzz is presenting-

Whatever people will say about Toon Zone in 2007, and believe me, I wasn't exactly one of TZ '07's biggest fans, you have to admit it had good noobs.

Ms Jarrel was an instant classic. People couldn't wait to nominate her for best noob. I probably shouldn't go in depth on this one since most of the backstory is unknown to the public, so I'll just give props to DarkGundam for making a spam account just as good as your first.

Owner was insane. There's not a lot more to say about him. Okay, there is. I'm going to rant about him for quite a while here. He's just that messed up. The guy's made like 20 forums, and he's so hated on the internet that every single forum he's made, and he's made TONS, has been hacked. Either by idiotic mod choices, like people who publicly bash him, or by people whose forums he stole layouts and descriptions from. This guy honestly has no purpose in making these message boards anymore. The original was about Ed, Edd, N Eddy, and now they're about... I have no idea. There's a whole section devoted to times he was hacked, and another devoted to his hundred page list of rules. Props to daniel and all your other five hundred accounts you made while claiming they were your “friend”.

Jeff_iz_xlent was fake. Fake as hell. His biography was all lies. Not to say that owner's wasn't; I don't think anyone believes owner was a 60 year old woman in the hospital. But Jeff's was just blatant lies. He claimed to be a teacher, but he couldn't type to save his life. Or at least he acted like he couldn't. Sometimes he typed regularly, other times not. His fakeness was so blatant, but that was part of his charm. Honestly, he mentioned being deaf in his profile, but he never mentioned that in any of his posts. I understand that he could have gotten over his disability, but a deaf teacher? I could only understand that if he were teaching deaf kids. Which I suppose is a possibility. But he wouldn't really pick up dialect the way he did without hearing. It's easier just to not believe any of his garbage. Props to lavenderpaw on this one.

Lastly, YoshiAngemon. I don't know, man. I've talked to him. He's just totally out there. I can't even express how weird he is. He's like, on drugs, 24/7, but all childish and clean, you know? I can't even explain him. He's just too... too obsessed with the entertainment world. One time after veemonjosh yelled at him, he referred to Josh as “grumpier than Shrek, in Shrek The Halls!” It's just so awkward talking to someone who is so totally detached from life that he compares anger to a lame Shrek Christmas special.

Will these guys be remembered as well as classics like JWL, and RaveMaster1? Maybe. It's been months since owner was banned, and Toon Overlord still suspects most spammers as being “owner's thugs”, so at least he's been remembered this long.

I could complain about Timbox not being on here. But I think I've complained about Timbox being on here for quite a while.

I doubt she has the respect for this forum and its members to censor her presentations and their speeches so as to not offend some people she'll never see again after this month.

J'onn, I'd like to drop this discussion after this and get on with the subject at hand. First, I was not necessarily referring to the posts about the award itself, but some other posts referring to other banned members (though those could be seen as more inflammatory than what we'd appreciate as well). We limit discussion about banned members as to not restart any arguments or drama that may have developed from the actual ban, and it helps remain a calm, sane environment on the forum.

As to the speeches, I am aware that Kury said she will be leaving Toon Zone shortly, and I'd hope she could make a dignified exit, as she has had quite a following on these forums, and I'd be personally disappointed if she tried to do anything destructive, if not for the sake of the other members here. What we do here is try and prevent people from yelling at each other, mocking each other, or being noticeably rude to each other.

I've been here since early 2004 so I've been around for each awards thread. It was fun at first, but later I started to feel it wasn't such a good idea. Many good people always get left out of it and that's not fair.

An appreciation thread is a great idea, that way everyone can give their gratitude to whom they want.

And didn't I call KtM's eventual return the day he said he was gone forever?

You're not alone. I posted this in an earlier thread:

About the whole "popularity contest" thing.

While I agree that some categories such as Best Member may fall under that type of criticism, I don't think it's fair to denounce the whole event in such a manner.

When I wrote in nominees for Funniest Member, I put down people who make me laugh. When I selected members for Best Debater, I put down posters who are able to hold their own in intense arguments. I didn't nominate members because they were my buddies. Heck, some of the members that I nominated I don't necessarily like, but I felt they should be recognized anyway.

And it's true that I may not visit some sections of Toon Zone as much as others, and therefore I'm probably biased when nominating people, because I'm sure there are several great members who I just don't see a lot of. However, that doesn't mean other people can't nominate those members. If you think someone deserves to be nominated, no one's stopping you. Go ahead and do it. And even if those members don't win or don't even make it to the voting phase, I'm sure people will be greatly appreciative that they are nominated at all. And I still stand by that.

If I may add something, I find it rather in bad taste to make fun of banned or n00b-ish members. Sure, some of them were admittedly irritating, but when they're gone, they're gone. No good reason to make fun of them.

Hmm, so it's not okay to mock previous trollish members like Owner, but it is okay to mock KuwabaraTheMan, who made thousands of intelligent posts in his five years and two accounts on the forum? And it's okay to make up stories about someone who hasn't even LEFT yet, like Kury? This is insane. Claiming that the AIM chatters control the awards is ridiculous. The cafe is far from the AIM in-joke festival it was in early '07, back when it had no active mods, and guys like TheDarkness were still spamming the forum to death. And it's not like the six or seven people who frequent the Toon Zone AIM Chats are regulating the forum. The cafe is open to EVERYONE, and if not enough people who don't go to the chats didn't vote, hey, that's their problem. And is being crowned 'best n00b' really a huge honour? It's more of a roast than a knighting. The people who claim this is a popularity contest DO have some merit to their claims, but it's no more a contest now than it was in the previous few years, and almost no one complained in any of those years. Because back then, people ENJOYED Toon Zone. Reporters didn't think they were superior to the rest of the forum. People didn't take a simple parody awards thread so seriously that they started speculating about the host not posting an award for a few days. Few cared that Mr. Pedro had a life, but when it's Kury, an ex-mod who has the contempt of the staff for trivial reasons, we get page after page of insults and speculation. Please. She's ill. I'm sure she'll post the rest of the awards when she feels better. This thread is for awards, not this kind of drivel.

It may be true that she is very against the forum, but I've talked to her on AIM, and she's confirmed that she will post the rest of the results eventually, and when she's finished posting them, she'll leave the forum, as has been her plan for several months.

What a turn around this is. Didn't I get yelled at in the photo thread a while back when I pointed out that the posts were becoming too much of back patting between the two who shall not be named and that their in jokes were confusing everybody? And didn't I call KtM's eventual return the day he said he was gone forever?

Edit: Seriously though, now that this popularity contest is over, I'm pretty sure Rasputin would win "Best Debator" by far. I can't believe he wasn't even nominated.

Oh yea i remember that, then i said the photo thread was like a TZ Myspace, then kury got PO'd at me and edited my post and said i was on her "list".

The awards were like a rigged prom, people deserved diffrent positions, but they all went to the same people. I got nominated for sexy member and best member, yet, they went by how many people got their name called up, which to me isnt fair.

Theres alot of bad blood between me and the Hierarchy Kuwa and Kury, mostly due to how they treated me and others on the AIM chats (well i said some stuff too, but i was never as vulger as they were). Yea, long history, but im leaving that in the past where it belongs.

So now that it seems were starting over, ill be glad...

What you guys have done is so ridiculous...if I can get poked for being rude to members, which I can be, some action should be taken here. You guys need to lay off, everyone has a time in their life when they complain about things, Tz is no exception, it certainly is not perfect despite what some of you think, it has its good points and its bad points, just like everything else in this world, just like me, just like Kury. Focusing on all the bad points aren't helping anything, this unneeded bashing is just pathetic, at least do it in private. All of you ganged up on her, and for what?
