Do you think that Cartoon Network has any idea how many of it fans it has disappointed over that last few years?

No offense, but we've got quite a few threads like this already.
Even I'm getting tired of trashing CN.

So which "fans" have the network disappointed?
If by "fans" you mean the nostalgists who've been watching the network for over ten years and express disapproval at the direction it has decided to take, then CN has disappointed its fans. It may be aware of this, but this demographic doesn't give them ratings so they have no reason to care.
If you mean CN's entire audience, then... it hasn't. Apparently the live-action thing is a hit with the kids who watch the network, which is an indication to them that it may be a formula for success.
Seems quite elitist to call nostalgics "real fans", as if the newer watchers are somehow "fake fans".

The above statement is sad, but true. The only fans who are disappointed with the current Cartoon Network are the older fans (like myself) who remember the channel the way it was a decade ago. But CN isn't out to please us anymore. CN has officially become a channel for KIDS, not animation fans. Us older toonsmiths no longer even register a blip on CN's radar.
Yes, CN went back on it's original credo that it would show nothing but cartoons, but as long as kids are watching the live action shows and movies, they're not going to disappear anytime soon. I don't like the live action crap on CN either, but as long as kids are watching it, and it continues to get ratings, it's not going anywhere.

Me too but only when the trashing is unjustified.

He didn't mention live action. In my opinion CN was disappointing me way before that started.

No said anything about real or fake fans.

They'd better know. I started a whole letter writing campaign a few months ago. They just don't care. As it has been said, they're not interested in our viewer ship anymore.
And no, these threads will never stop. Ever. Even if "nostalgists" (btw, I'm in the "it's not always about nostalgia" crowd for that particular argument) had their way, if it all went back to "the good old days", if it eradicated all traces of live action and re-instituted cartoons made before the 21st century that aren't T&J or Scooby, SOMEBODY would complain. Somebody likes it as it is now, and if the network overhauls its layout again they will complain.
Because that's what humans are like. We're more likely to complain than we are to praise.
I've learned to live with it.

I agree that sometimes there are too many complaints but look at Thunderstarwarp's post, it's not as extreme as you guys are making it out to be? In fact, it's not saying anything about the state of the network but how it's disappointed it's fans. And since he used the word disappoint in it's past tense, he's referring to the nostalgics (like me) and not all fans in general.

Have to agree but to be fair, TV networks exists to make money and corporations will do lots of things to achieve that goal, even if it means abandoning the old ways that got them where they are today. Ford, GM anyone?
At the end of the day, am I disappointed? Yeah I am, but I fondly remember the days when there were no commercials and Wacky Races seemed to be on all the time. Anything else is second best.

You complain and/or ask them to lock any thread that's remotely negative about the network. So disappointed fans no longer have the right to express their opinions? Just because our personal opinion happens to go against your own personal view and you're simply tired of hearing said opinions, we should all be silenced once and for all?

I don't see much harm in this thread. He didn't insult any employees, live action shows, cartoons, bumpers, or anything. All he asked is if Cartoon Network knows how much they've disappointed their fans. Not if they cared but if they even realized it. Cartoon Network has little to no fan interaction, for all we know they just pile kid shows on the network and thinks that everyone likes them.

Well, I'm sorry but it's just that these sort of complaints are really getting old even Silverstar admits it. Besides, I'm still respecting the dead. Yeah, you know who I'm talking about.

The "getting old" excuse on a forum is pretty nil. Forums are and always have been magnets for complaints, and they will always exist. There is no escaping that, on this nor any forum.
As for respecting the dead, Mrs. Davidson's passing is a sad event, but I don't think that's any reason to stop expressing our views of the network. Not one bit. Her loss does not mean that the network's suddenly fixed all of its problems. In fact, I think that would be more of an insult, to insinuate that her passing is an excuse to pretend that the network is great in the eyes of all. They are possibly more lost now than they were with her, and will only get worse. Call me disrespectful or what you will, but as long as the network that I used to call my favourite is on what I perceive as a severe downhill slope, I am going to express that opinion, tragic loss or not.

Disrespecting the dead, huh? Guess that goes the same for my friend since he died on the same exact date as Mrs. Davidson. Thank you for giving my friend a Big "F-Word You." You see the last show on CN he was Chowder, CN was his favorite Network no matter what.

Sorry for your loss, but really, what does that have to do with other people expressing their negative views on the network?

Well, my friend cared-less about live action on CN, just as long as he sees good material, he's fine with it. And he also gets sick of tired of the complaints too.

Understood. But how am I disrespecting him by expressing my opinion?
People complain. It's inevitable. I just don't think it's fair to ask that a thread be closed simply because you are tired of said complaints. That, my friend, is totalitarianism.

He didn't mention live action. In my opinion CN was disappointing me way before that started.
From what I can tell, however (just by reading posts in this forum), the live-action is a very major factor.
No said anything about real or fake fans.
It was implied, though. Never mind, I always tend to judge things too harshly. Forgive me -.-
On the subject at hand (to divert the topic from impending flamewar): "Does CN know it disappoints its longtime fans?" is a different question than "Does CN care that it disappoints its longtime fans?". Keep in mind, however, that you're far less likely to notice something if you're focused in the opposite direction. CN doesn't even look towards the nostalgic fans; it wouldn't even notice, let alone care about, our grievances.
Which is fine by me, to be honest. If CN won't heed my complaints, that's their decision. That is not to say I won't stop whining (sorry Movie06), but there's no way in hell I'll expect CN to change.

Which I still think is unfair. Sorry, it is very unfortunate, I cannot stress that enough, but I don't think it's any reason to stifle any hint of negative opinions.
I don't think it's disrespectful at all to her to complain about the network she was a part of. Many still feel it's in bad shape. But that doesn't mean we're directly insulting Mrs. Davidson. And who knows, without her it might get into even worse shape. I think she was one of the few people working there that actually cared about the network itself.

I agree with danreyes1 here. Threads like this are getting old and tired, true, but they're not hurting anyone. If folks want to vent about the sorry state of CN, let them. Everyone has a right to express their views. That's what forums like this exist for. If you're personally tired of reading the anti-CN threads, then don't read them. Problem solved. What's complaining about the complaints going to accomplish? Nothing.
Movie06, you always want everyone to stop complaining about CN, but seriously, don't use the death of Jennifer Davidson as an excuse to support your desire to stop the CN bashing threads. That's really cheap of you. I'm sorry she died. We all are. And I'm also sorry that your friend died. However, the state of Cartoon Network isn't suddenly all right now just because someone passed away. That also doesn't mean that discussing CN's management is now taboo. Seriously, Cartoon Network was nothing more than a job to Mrs. Davidson, so no one is disrespecting her memory by criticizing CN, and I think it's despicable of you to suggest that they are. "My friend didn't care about what was on CN." Great, but that's just one person's opinion. And the death of a fan doesn't change or affect the state of CN right now. Not in the least.
Why must you always cause discord by griping and complaining about the CN bashing threads when it would be so much easier for you to simply ignore them? If you want to respect Mrs. Davidson's memory by not commenting on these threads, that's fine and noble, and I will respect that, but don't force your beliefs on everyone else. I must point out one more time that no one is forcing you to come here or to read these threads. The best way for you to show your respect is to just not say anything at all. For once in your life, just let people be.

*sigh* it's threads like this that make me not want to be around these parts.
I'm closing the thread not out of respect of Mrs. Davidson (anyone that still reads the site knows my opinion about criticism about CN after her tragic passing (http://www.thexbridge.com/wts161.html)) but because I'm just plain sick of all the complaining.
ALL of it.
