There's a new Metalocalypse tonight on the FIX and on Adult Swim Sunday 11:45. Fifth of the season it's "DethFashion".
SYNOPSIS:
"When promoting a new clothing line, Dethklok experiences the brutality of negative body image, dieting, and bulimia."
REVIEW:
This was a pretty good episode actually. It started off a bit slower and more expostional then usual (though the Fashion show did have some nice gory eye candy, mainly in that one model getting chewed up by an alligator) but there were some good laughs to be had once we got to the plot of Dethklok actually talking about the clothing line. Highlights included Murderface refusing to have any food shaped like a d***, the band lying about they're measurements to the fashion model, the manager telling them how to get a proper diet and then calling them fat when they wouldn't listen, the dieting plan being eating one big meal at the end of the day with some bread and popsicles inbetween (I also noticed the grocery store and confusing words were similar to the first episode as well), Toki saying "even me" a couple of times and the end where they find the fashion guy killing the models (I loved the delivery on the "oh my god that's disgusting- you're fired by the way" from Nathan as well. He usually does have some of the best lines and this wasn't an exception). A sort of slow beginning but all around fairly solid ep.
Enjoy Everyone!

I really enjoyed this episode, most notably the grocery store moments.
I think one of the real highlights of the show is all of the band's voices, Pickle's uber Wisconsin accent, especially.

How did we know those polar bear cages were going to be opened?
Murderface isn't gay, right?
Back to Fintroll's Food Library.
Carbocycrates.

Aren't "Popsgoggles" just water?

"Omigawd what a horrible you're fired by the way oh gawd!"

Wow Emperor was in this episode! Have they been in it before? I'm guessing they were the German fashion guys, even though they're actually Norwegian. The main guy definitely sounded like Ihsahn.

I always wondered what type of accent that was....now I know!
I love the fish out of water moments too, it's like the interview segments from as.com, they are SO funny.

It was stated that Pickles' family was from Wisconsin in "Dethfam", and Pickles mentions being from the Midwest in "Religionklok".

:o I'm English, I've not got that great a knowledge, it didn't really connect...I didn't really know there was a specific midwest accent :o

It's OK. Sending up the Midwestern accent is pretty commonplace in the States; it was a major source of humor in the movie Fargo.

Thats alright, most of the jokes in the eppy have nothing to do with the accent. I'm american and I had no idea what accent was being used. :anime:
It was an ok eppy with as great ending. I just want to see those old evil guys from last season continue to try to kill the band. I love those eppys.

Aaaah, I get it, kind of like the birmingham accent here....(Ozzy Osbourne sort of still has it....)
I like the thick Boston accent, you don't hear that enough in my eyes!

I'm trying to thnk what accents they'd have if they were english now....
It would have to be birmigham/midlands, (that's where every great metal band was from pretty much) for all of them except Nathan, who would sound like a cocky cockney east londonish & Murderface who would be from Glasgow.
Great episode, the ending made me raise an eyebrow.

I guess I'm the only one who knows who Emperor are. Then again I'm probably the only one who knows Fintroll and Burzum.

This was pretty good and there was only 2 things I didn't like.
Murderface's sausage scene - It seemed so out of character for him.
The end - Dethklok thought what that guy was doing was so shocking? Look at all of the death they cause and see.

Yeah, I mean, they once watched the therapist that Nathan at least had come to love be ripped apart by dogs, and their response was, "This is making me hungry."

Nah, you're not. I'm a huge metal fan...I love all the little nods to the black metal scene! It's one of my favourite things about it!

I'm glad they're getting the more obscure bands in there. I cracked up every time Ihsahn said "Special leather..."
It's funny, it seems like Emperor have been doing a lot of things together recently (tours, interviews, guest appearances), except for actually recording an album. Ihsahn's solo album was great, but Emperor is Emperor, and I'd always love to hear a new album from the greatest Black Metal band ever.

I know all those bands are as well. I'm with you, I love how they have band-mates from underground metal groups as guest voices.
And HUGE props on knowing about such a classic band like Emperor, who are pioneers of European Black Metal. Besides being inovators, their bloody, and chaotic history have long since secured them as legends.

I sometimes wonder if Ihsahn was truly innocent in all the chaos of the early Black Metal scene. Though he has always seemed like one of the more intelligent and reasonable people in that scene. Either way, I'm glad he wasn't implicated since he was pretty much left to carry the torch while everyone else was behind bars. And during the years of Samoth's and Tchort's incarceration, he composed most of what I consider to be the most important metal album of our generation, "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk".
I truly believe he's the greatest single musician in all of metal today. Although he's not necessarily the greatest singer or guitarist, he's is great at both (as well as keyboards and bass). And combined with his masterful skills as a composer (both lyrically and musically), he's just unmatched by any single member of the metal scene today.
