I'm sure some folks will be familiar with the YouTube Poop craze. For those who aren't, they're basically a series of comedy videos in which people string togethor existing media clips with programmes like Windows Movie Maker in odd combinations (slowing down, speeding up, looping, etc). Commonly used sources are things like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World.

Having taken a look at a few of these...am I the only one who doesn't really get the appeal? I'll admit I find splicing in scenes from different things to be funny (like a character saying something, then splicing in an unrelated clip for a reaction) but what's so funny about just speeding up/slowing down and looping a clip? From how big this craze is, I feel like I'm missing something...

I mainly hate the name. YouTube Poop? Real classy, guys.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think the idea for Youtube Poop was inspired by vids such as Over900, which did simmilar things. Some can be surprisingly funny, while others can be quite lame.

Well~ I dislike most of what YouTube patrons churn out. =D

No, I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I seriously just detest a lot of what's on that website. It's worse than YTMND.

Like the Myspacey crap that's on Youtube? At least YTMND doesn't really have that, afaik. >_>

Yeah, I don't get what so funny about YouTube Poop. The only thing I can think that's even funny is that the makers of these flims realize that thier works is so bad that they name it approrately.

Then you'd probably be a good person to ask- why? Why do you consider these worth the time to make?

What do you the truth? Just it's because you opinion doesn't make it true.

It's call freetime.

I don't understand the appeal either at times, but I must admit that they can be funny sometimes.

Robotnik's Sexy Suspender Striptease is probably the finest of them all.
It's call freetime.
Is that all? You could do other things in your freetime. Freetime as a reason is not a good enough reason.

When used properly, "The Video Website That Must Not Be Named" can be quite entertaining. Basically, I use the site to see what videos have been linked to my videos.

Oh, come on. Most of them are garbage, but there are some quality ones.

Robotnik's Sexy Suspender Striptease is probably the finest of them all.

Yeah, back when it was made, but its quality is now surpassed by the newer Robotnik videos by the guy who made the video.

I dunno, I get a kick out of some of the Mario ones, particularly since the shows are so riddled with errors and awkward moments that I find looping them repeatedly to be quite humorous.

Grounder from AoStH saying "What are you? A bucket of chicken?" makes me giggle every time.

I'm sad. Don't remind me.

The only Youtube Poops I can even stand anymore are the Tyrannosarus Alan videos.

Like this one is my current favorite. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOatLGQk9Cs)

Most suck, but some (particularly MrSimonAlt's) are pretty funny.

And http://youtube.com/watch?v=NOatLGQk9Cs is the best YouTube Poop ever.

Edit: Josh beat me to it.

A lot of YouTube Poop makers seem to think that their poops are the best things on YouTube (no offense, Don_East). I go on a lot of poop makers' profiles and there are bulletins like "Spam and flame SacredHoOh! He rated my video one star! He deserves to die!". It makes me sick seeing people trying to get their YT buddies to spam people. For what? Downrating a video? It's not the end of the world. I know nobody likes to get their videos downrated, but overreacting doesn't help.

There's a lot of funny stuff on YTMND. Juvenile and stupid, to be sure, but funny.

I'm guilty of making them too. I just thought it would be a fun thing to do, but it got tiring fast. I don't know if I'll make another one or not.

See, the Zelda ones are pretty decent. But other than that, it's very immature "Whee, look what I can do with Windows Movie Maker! High pitched voices are hilarious!!"

One thing has been bothering me for some time now though.

Would Kajetokun's (of Over 9000 fame) videos be defined as a bunch of YouTube Poops?

Even though there are 2 things wrong with the quote:

1. Most of the members of YouTube Poop hate Windows Movie Maker.
2. There are other stuff they can do besides of high-pitching. Even if someone did a poop entirly of high-pitching voices, they'll get pinned down by Koopa (Koopa) Football Players.

Is that all? You could do other things in your freetime.

Like what, exactly? You may think your own hobbies are more sophisticated and you may even be correct, but they're still only hobbies and only matter to yourself.

Is reading and posting on Toon Zone even a better use of time than making meaningless, repetitive cartoon montages? I sure don't get any long-term value out of internet forums.

IMO not really. They're somewhat similar, but... I think they're sufficiently different in both shows and technique to not be Poops.

The way he termed his reasons seemed rather off to me. I've never used a rationale for doing something because of "free time", or I've never thought of it that way.

Now when I hear the word "Poop" the first thing that comes across my head is the issue of "Garbage" or "Waste" but in some cases (as has been pointed out), some videographers who are talented can actually turn out a video that can be funny (and it's even affected the KP Universe folks, especially when you can see a cross between Family guy and Kim Possible (with Patrick Warburton saying "Oh yes she did!"

But then you have to look at something else, Some videographers put a lot of time and energy and love into what they do. I recall helping a friend (who was graduating from High School No less), who created a few good music videos using the "Non-Poop" technique, and for a while a lot of folks liked the videos he created.. I go back less than six months later, and I was reading comments like "This sux" or stuff that is written so grammatically horrible that you could tell these people were "poopers' or thought Creativity was lame or wasn't the "In Thing".

It really all depends on who's creating what.. If you put a lot of time and effort into a "Poop" video, you can get a few good laughs..but when you see the vast majority of these people cranking it out like a fleet of 1957 Edsels.. it makes you wonder.. Where's the creative talent here? After all turning out a good 4 minute music video can take as little as 2 weeks to create.. whereas a poop video can be made under an hour, and when you multiply that by tens if not hundreds of these things hitting the Youtube airwaves.. it makes you wonder... Did someone buy a DeLorean here?

But seriously if "Poopers' Are just going to crank them out, like 1957 Edsels and think nothing of it, their confidence will be shot when they finally do GOOD creative videos..Believe me, my friend actually got an 'A+' for his month long work on a video..4 weeks well spent..

but when you can take 4 weeks for 1 video or 4 weeks of 100 Poop videos (of which maybe 1 or 2 are good), it really defines what the word "Poop" means.. It's orignal form.. As in "Waste" or "waste of time". No one really can sometimes put good creativity to a video without a lot of thought, but the when you crank out 100 of these things in under a week, it makes you wonder.. Do you want to Drive a 1957 Edsel.. in 1957?

Just my thoughts on this..

Well, I understand the appeal of YouTube poop, I guess splicing in clips and speeding up clips are funny. But one YouTube appeal I don't understand is Chris Crocker himself.

Has anyone ever took a look at that guy? He's creepy, he's really creepy.

You're right. Some of them are just weird rush-jobs, but there are great ones like randomperson's "Ed Edd 'n' Eddy Randomness" videos. Those are creative and very funny.

Question: does AMV's count as YTP? Because I made a handful of them on YouTube (my user name is AhmedDemha). I made 4 EEnE music videos that are given great praise, along with one Rocko video.

The one I spent the least time on was "My Second Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy Music Video!", which only took one day for me to make. That video has over 33,000 views so far, and users love it. The first EEnE video I made, I'll admit, was really random clips of the show to the song with not enough creativity into it.

When I make AMV's, I choose the perfect song for it, and edit the clips so that it either relates to the song's lyrics or the music. It seems from the support by users, I'm doing an excellent job.

One of the funniest manipulated videos I've seen on YouTube was "The Lion King in 10 seconds" or something along the lines of that.

Simba: Dad, we're pals, right?
Mufasa: Right.
Simba: And we'll always be together, right?
[Cuts to stampede]
Mufasa: [Falling] AAAAHHHH--
Simba: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--
[THE END plays with Hakuna Matata]

It was such a guilty laugh, but I couldn't help it. The quick cuts to the stampede and Hakuna Matata song were just so funny.

But otherwise, I've never really found YouTube Poops to be hilariously interesting. Maybe a chuckle or two, but I get more irritated when I'm trying to look for an intro to a show and end up getting thousands of Poop videos instead.

He wasn't suspended? Then why did it take a month or two for his ElectrictheCheese account to start up?

And yeah, I knew he was back, but I still think his newer videos are nowhere near the quality of his MrSimonAlt days.
