I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see Fred and Barney smoking and drinking.
plus, that's not kid friendly. Also, smoking is bad for everyone's health and, drinking is bad for the liver. also, pebbles and bam-bam would be taken away by social services.

Product of its' time. You have to bear in mind when the original Flintstones were made. Smoking and drinking weren't taboo in those days. People weren't aware of the serious health risks involved, plus The Flintstones originally aired at night, where advertising such products is permitted. Don't forget, The Flintstones wasn't originally considered a children's show.

also, pebbles and bam-bam would be taken away by social services.

Dude, if every kid whose parents smoked and drank got taken away by Social Services, nobody in this country would have kids. You know not of what you speak.

I wish I was in the 60's. so that's why girls gone wild was airing it's commercials during adultswim hours hence the name of the block.

I wish I was in the 60's.

Yeah, racial segregation, being forced to ride in the back on buses, blacks and women being regarded as second class citizens, the draft, the Red Scare, give me some more of that!

 What does "Girls Gone Wild" have to do with the 1960s? Video cassettes didn't even exist back then. For that matter, what does "Girls Gone Wild" have to do with The Flinstones?

Cocopugg, if all your going to do in your posts is plug this blog (you've started 2 threads like this already) then that's pretty much considered spamming. Put a link in your sig if you want people to check it out.

Thanks! I've wanted to see that beer episode for years, ever since I read on the web that they were selling it by online auction.

OK, now you're just saying random things that don't mean anything at all. Good job.

Thanks for the advice Darth. I took it and put the link on my sig. The other thread was for the MySpace site, this thread was for the Blog site.

Also, I'd like to know where everyone got derailed from the topic and started talking about racism and girls gone wild. The Flintstones site is dedicated to the history of the show. History means it happened. The reality is the smoking and drinking was accepted in the 60s, and The Flintstones was a prime time show aimed at adults. If you go to my site, you'll see that I mention the fact that I don't endorse drinking or smoking, but I'm showing these clips for historical purposes. If they were shown at some point in Flintstones history, we shouldn't ignore it. If that's the way things worked, then should we pretend slavery never existed? How can people learn if not to acknowledge the errors of the past, and learn from them? Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying the site. I will keep posting as many more Flintstones rarities as I can find. Thanks for your support! Yabba Dabba Doo!

Nice site! Thanks for sharing. That "Busch Beer" episode was funny.

It was cute. It's really interesting to see how people were so easily swayed by advertising back in the 60s. I mean a drink of beer and all the men feel like they're being patted on the head by a woman's hand? LOL! Funny is right!

Today on The Forgotten Flintstones Blog, we're featuring a profile on Arnold The Paperboy. Come check it out. I always wondered why he sometimes looked small and chubby, and other times he was skinny and taller, yet his voice was always the same! :)

The beer episode was rather interesting. I wonder if Hanna and Barbera ever regretted the choice to make that.

I'm positive they never regretted it back then when it was made. The same as when they made the Winston Cigarettes commercials (which I will also be showing on The Forgotten Flintstones Blog Page in the next few days). You have to remember that these were products of their time. Drinking and smoking was acceptable back then, much in the same way the racially stereotyped cartoons made in the 30s and 40s were also accepted when they were made. Today it's a whole different ballgame however.
