View Full Version : "Real Adventures of Jonny Quest".....why has it yet to make it to Boomerang?

All of H-B's other '90's one-off shows (minus Yo Yogi!......what's the deal with that one again?) have already aired on Boomerang or currently on it, why not "Real"? It's really strange, as it's been almost 11 years since it premiered. Last time it was on CN it was on the graveyard slot at the beginning of this decade and then POOF!, gone to this day.
And was the show really syndicated by "Program Exchange"? I saw it in one of their old program lists. What was that about? I thought Turner stopped syndicating it's cartoons after 1994-1995.

I've been wondering this for years actually. I'd love to see Real Adventures again and maybe the movie deal will dig it up but for whatever reason Boomerang and CN act like it never existed. Asside from the clips during Toonami's 10th anniversary special (which proves they still have it I suppose) we haven't seen a sign of it for years.

They need to air this again even if it's on boomerang. A good spot for this to air would be right near the current DCAU block. I was a big fan of the show back when it first aired and though I can't find anything about it on the web This show does need more spotlight and possibly a new series (even though Real adventures was the greatest series to date). Still I wonder why this hasn't been added to the line up.

It's really weird. Ever since Toonami made that infamous promo saying the show would be leaving the block back in 1998 or 1999, the show has been almost non-existant since then. It was like it got the kiss of death.
Does Boomerang even air the original JQ series?
There is a chance it could come back thanks to the movie, but who knows, maybe Jetix will get it.;)

Same here. It was just starting to hit its stride when they cancelled it, and rerunning it on Toonami as much as they did killed any remaining interest except from die-hard TRA fans. I think the programmers figure that if it was mocked off the air (via the promo), then why should they air it again? Which, of course, is BS. It could've been great.

I'm not sure. If it's not, again I'm going to blame Venture Brothers for killing any interest in the original through sheer disrespect.

Maybe in the UK. In the states, Jetix is strictly Saban/Disney.
The original airs at 1 AM central on Boomerang.
When I first heard the news of the Jonny Quest Movie I thought "I hope they release "The Real Aventures" as a tie in.
From searching online I seem to notice that The Real Adventues are often hated by people. I personally loved it. Quest World was pretty cool for its time.(I bet it hasn't aged well though). I also enjoyed the season that has Dr. Quest with black hair than when they gave him his original red hair back.
As a kid I always hated the original series, I found it lame and boring so I was surprised to like The Real Adventuers (which of course I was still a kid when I watched it).

I haven't watched this show since I was like 5. Seriously, it hasn't been on in forever. I can hardly even remember it. I wish I had taped it as a kid, like I did with Thundercats, and to a lesser extent, Voltron. If Boomerang aired it next to What A Cartoon! that'd be awesome.

He's making a reference to how Jetix US recently randomly picked up two former Toonami programs, Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series.

Uh, I don't think so. Aside from the fact that the original is still airing, parodies don't cause the original shows to disappear. Otherwise, the H-B shows wouldn't be on Boomerang because the original Adult Swim shows made fun of them.

But look around here, and you'll see how thoroughly the parody has replaced the original in the minds of the posters. Even on the best fathers/father figures list, they only gave Race a spot because he was the "original version" of his Venture Brothers counterpart. It really has replaced JQ and killed all hopes of a straightfoward, non-movie-derived revival.

I dunno, something really weird is probably going on with that show. It has also led an unfortunate life since it's conception, being stuck for four years in "development hell" as H-B's pet project before the "World Premiere Toons" project (it probably would've debuted a little before if not during the same period as the WAC project did, instead of August 1996), being split off into two noticeably different shows labeled as "seasons", and then not continuing either of the "seasons" and canning the show. The legendary re-running of it's 52 episodes on Toonami from March 1997-fall 1999 really may have been the nail in the coffin. Yeah, it has been scarce ever since leaving Toonami.
And U.S Jetix acquired the broadcast rights to B:TAS and S:TAS? Link NOW! Very unusual for U.S Jetix, very.

What? How the? Huh? Time Warner really doesn't care about the CN networks if they would obviously let them take away the rights to shows that they own and give it to a competitor! This is just, wow, I can't even say that I'm surprised by this anymore.
Anyway let us stay on topic. I loved the Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, despite the uneveness of the visuals for "season 1" and "season 2". I absolutely thought that the first episodes visuals owned the last batch of episodes. I loved the show and I hoped that it would come back on the air (or at least they would make a comic book based on the series). Right now I highly suspect that Boomerang will show the "Real Adventures" on their network (though I proposed it to be shown on a Boomerang "toonami" block), but there is always hope.
BTW, Mugen-How is that new Talib? Is it as good as Common's new album?

RAJQ was briefly in syndication around 1999, airing in particular in Boston. Might've been a pre-set deal w/PE.

Why yes it is. It's probably his best solo offering so far(not counting Reflection Eternal).
Anyway, music discussion goes into the Entertainment forum.
