No. I had a feeling it was coming back. I knew why CN's statement says this: "CN shows original, acquired, and classical programming".

Tom and Jerry is the only classic cartoon that airs on CN consistently.

I love how everyone thinks this means CN will bring back more classic cartoons, even though CN ALWAYS takes off Tom and Jerry during the summer and then adds it back in the fall.
I'm not in the least surprised that Tom and Jerry is back. But, it doesn't mean that they'll suddenly air other older shows.
Just watch, next year, they'll take off Tom and Jerry for the summer and then put it back on again, and I'll just say "I told you so".

Yeah, that about sums up my thoughts on this. But if CN is going to only air one classic show consistently, T&J is an excellent choice.

Well technically Cartoon Network will probably air Tom and Jerry and at least one iteration of Scooby Doo every year but T&J seems to be more constant then Scooby nowadays. Still that sucks though. Yeah Tom and Jerry is a lot better then say... Son Of The Mask (WHY OH WHY OH WHY IS THAT AIRING ON CN AGAIN?!) but the Looney Tunes/Merry Melody cartoons are much better then Tom and Jerry. Even Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner are better then Tom and Jerry toons.

But, there is a slim to none chance that LT will come back to CN.

Son Of The Mask (WHY OH WHY OH WHY IS THAT AIRING ON CN AGAIN?!)
They've never aired Son of the Mask before, only the original (however, I think they should show that infinately superior version over this horrid excuse for a sequel).

One can always hope. We know nothing's going to change, but we can still hope.

Is this the original Tom & Jerry that will be airing, or is it the new Tom & Jerry that has season 2 starting on Kids' WB! this fall? I enjoy both, but there's a little more enjoyment in the original (since it aired when I was a kid).

Pretty sure the original. Not only has everyone already backed up the whole "T&J air every year" thing, but I doubt WB would sell off one of their new toons that soon.

Kids' WB! has a second season of Tom & Jerry Tales coming this fall though, and they tend to focus on the current season instead of past seasons.

Even if the new series WAS going to air, it doesn't have nearly enough episodes for a five-days-a-week slot.

I never said it did, but that hasn't stopped CN from putting series with only 13 episodes on weekdays before. Ben 10 is one example of that. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they started airing some of the new series on CN in the weekday slot. With the exception of the beginning and some of the music, there's really not that much of a difference. I do expect it to be the older series though. I was merely asking if anyone knew for certain since that newer series is there.
