So, each airing is a different version? Interesting.

So, wait, are the two airings tonight both the same version?

...Or are there FOUR versions?

Edit: Also an airing on Saturday morning....

So, how can we tell which airings are which versions?

Additionally, the Ben 10 animated movie, Secret of the Omnitrix, which premieres Friday August 10th with additional airings Saturday and Sunday night that weekend, will actually have three versions depending on which night the viewer watches. Different aliens will appear each night. So it sounds like they'll wait until Saturday night to show verison #2...

So far so good. Death count is at a least two. Didn't expect that. BTW, did that Stinkfly alien go splat? That's a pretty gruesome death for a y7 rated show.

Also, liked sSixzix blasting his fellow prisoner that managed to hitch a ride on the fleeing space ship.

Destroying the Universe seems like serious overkill to keep the Omnitrix from getting into the wrong hands.

The movie was ok. I was expecting the Creator of the Omnitrix would be Vilgax's species, though I figure a Grey Matter would make sense too. I bet the giant alien that Ben used is one of three aliens that the movie uses for each version. I wonder what the other two will be? I like the back story of Hoverboard.

I was almost expecting Ben to comment on that alien after the fight was over. Or at least naming it like he always does. I really want to see it again in the future.

And about the live-action movie. Heatblast looked awesome, but that other one.. was that accelerate?

I'm pretty disappointed that their grandpa wasn't able to go i would have liked to have seen some of his allies and enemies

I guess the two writers thought it would be best to develop Ben and Gwen's relationship, even though Max's help in previous episodes never hindered that character development--as rarely as it occurs, and as short-lived as it is. My cynical answer, however, is that marketing decided having an adult present would make the film uncool and could hurt the duo's legitimacy as heroes, as if Grandpa ever did that.

I was almost expecting Ben to comment on that alien after the fight was over. Or at least naming it like he always does. I really want to see it again in the future.

The closed captioning listed the alien's name as "Way Big," hence Ben's quote. Man, I was hoping for something more interesting. "Ginormous" is now a word in the dictionary; if the writers wanted a boring name, why not pick something with the kiddy sound of that word?

And about the live-action movie. Heatblast looked awesome, but that other one.. was that accelerate?

It was hard for me to tell looking at the short clip how good Heatblast looked. I at first thought the other character was a villain for the film, but, yeah, it does look like a smaller-headed, creepier version of XLR8. Hopefully the filmmakers will cast Steven Blum and Jim Ward for these voice roles.

I hope to write a longer review (or maybe just write it for own pathetic need to review something), but, for now, I have some random thoughts.
Billy West as the Creator: Good casting, thankfully sounding different than a lot of his usual voices and without the editing done for some of the other actors. Something about his presence added a lot to the character and the last parts of the story, similar to hearing Rob Paulsen previously. EDIT: Er, nevermind; the actor was Robert David Hall, but his voice really fit the character and, for some reason, sounded like West to me.
Gwen's complaint about wanting a "normal" summer becomes just a part of the plot rather than adding something interesting to the story. It's a cliche idea, and maybe a different structure would have made it interesting, but, after three seasons of these adventures and the benefits she has received (learning magic), why now make her argument prominent?
The writers give backstory to Hoverboard and show us what Sixsix looks like behind the mask; these are obligatory fan service moments for the film, but they add something to make this stand apart from just a random episode. I am surprised that Hoverboard has always been a mercenary, however, as I thought his employment under Vilgax had some bigger purpose in regards to the Omnitrix other than getting payback against this villain's plots.
Why was it so awkward to have Ben cry upon reuniting with Gwen? Come on, just let the animation take place rather than cutting from the look of surprise to tears brimming on the eyes rather than engaging in this limited animation.
Way Big: Are the designs to the aliens getting repetitive? Something about the head looked like Ditto, and the red does not disrupt the repetitive color scheme of black and white. When the original 10 aliens appeared, there was something different about them, something that let each one have a differing color or shape or texture. Why not make Way Big stand out more than just by size? Try a deeper red, differing colors for the eyes, or a body outline that is so unique that it is easily recognized by just the Omnitrix's outline?
Slightly OT: Why did they speed up the opening to the subsequent episode ("Don't Drink The Water")? What, the Network couldn't enough commercials shrinking the credits (as well as the artwork on the screen) for more talk about Naruto but we need to shave off a couple seconds to fit in another Out of Jimmy's Head commercial?

Not bad. It was Ben Ten thats for sure. Velgax states he excaped from the "nullvoid" but we don't know how he excaped and never will.

I'm wondering if "Diffrent aliens" is just for scenes like when Ben Transformed for the first time after activating the self destruct. And other stuff like that. I doubt it will be signifigent changes.

My thoughts:

A watch-like device being powerful enough to destroy the universe is stretching the supension of disbelief a little to far.

I was hoping for another big baddie in addition to Vilgax.

How many times does Ben have to learn that he can be a hero without the Omnitrix?

The movie could've been a little shorter.

Aside from those criticisms, this was among the better of CN's recent movies.

We'll probably figure out how Vilgax got out right around the time Kevin shows up next, I figure.

As for different aliens, I noticed that when he went Wildmutt, he transformed to it during a scene cut and transformed back during a scene cut. That'll be a different alien tonight, for one. Bet either Greymatter or Heatblast will be different as well.

A watch-like device being powerful enough to destroy the universe is stretching the supension of disbelief a little too far.

But then again that's what they said about Thermonuclear hydrogen bombs destroying any city on the plaet Earth for that matter. But then again we've already see what something like that can do.

How many times does Ben have to learn that he can be a hero without the Omnitrix?

About as many times Ben can joke about "How many Gwen Tennisons does it take to screw in a lightbulb"?

The movie could've been a little shorter.

By shorter you mean a few minutes right? Or are you reffering that the movie should have been 1 minute long?

Aside from those criticisms, this was among the better of CN's recent movies.

Indeed. In fact Only Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo is just as good with it's gags and it's wit. But Ben 1o: Secrets of the Omnitrix isn't a bad movie now is it? Frankly I kind of liked it..and still do..

It would have been cool if they had more fan interaction to go with these versions. I've watched this twice. Yeah, I liked it that much. Pretty solid overall, with only a few stumbles (especially near the end - the voice acting seemed off for some reason, and the ending itself was a bit tepid.) But it entertained me, and as for the emotional moment with Ben angsting over Gwen...well, that moment was kind of sweet. And Gwen is frankly kind of a pain sometimes, so that made it even sweeter. I'd give it a 9. And the live-action Ben 10 trailer, although brief, looked awesome.

My only major gripe was the lack of Max and the utterly lame reason for it. But, other than that, I thought it was awesome. Animation was top notch, but I think what I liked best was the range of emotions we got from Ben- from a blind fury to crying from joy at the sight of Gwen alive.

"Sometimes, I think this thing just plain hates me."

It's Ben 10, in movie format. Which means it's just an extended Ben 10 episode, with good parts and bad parts.

I guess you can call it fairly entertaining when things you didn't expect a few 'obvious' events to happen and they actually did. Cases in point... the intelligent creator of the Omnitrex being a Gray Matter, and Gwen not ending up dead after all. Then there's things you see coming and do happen... Ben pushing his use of the soon-to-destruct Omnitrix to the limit, no explanation for Vilgax's escape from the Null Void, Gwen determined not to let Ben go off into space alone, and the creator who's similar in character to Ben.

Regardless, I liked a few things. In terms of battles, the movie was really balanced, and it seemed as if the writers put them in the right places to keep viewers interested at times when it seemed they were going to droop off. I was surprised the creator's assistant is the same species as Vilgax... even more so the two didn't physically cross paths in the movie. And Ben's uber alien at the end... beyond words awesome.

Typical Ben 10 when it all comes down to it, though. Kids will love the movie. Adults will probably pick and choose their moments, but those that are already fans will find it satisfying enough.

Now, if only the remainder of Ben 10 Season 4 would give fans the answers they're looking for on certain matters...

"Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix": 3.5/5.

You've seen how the Omnitrix enters self destruct mode, and you've seen the alien Real Big, but don't think you know everything about the movie. It's time to break out the Alternate Alien Version, but rest assured in knowing the truth is out there and that an alternate version exists.

Correction: Waybig.
Version 2 later this morning, yay!

Eye Guy?? I don't remember seeing that one in the series. Look cool thought.

The differences are right off the bat, a new alien replacing Heatblast for the first fight. Eyeguy.

Interesting design I guess, problem is well the characters already know Eyeguy like he has been used before.

I believe the live action movie is the series finale.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the third version will have Benwolf replace Heatblast/Eyeguy. (because he's the only other alien who can shoot beams)

What about Upgrade? Can't he also shoot beams? Come to think of it, the frankenstein alien shoots electricity, can't he be used as well?

Upgrade and this Eyeguy can shoot beams, BenVictor (the Frankenstein), shoots electricity, Benwolf shoots sound blasts.

You know of the two new aliens, Eyeguy seems less likely to appear again than Waybig.

I missed Upchuck's part this time; was he replaced? If not, I guess only the beginning aliens get switched.

Okay, so another version does exist. I thought it was all a lot of...hot air. When I saw the commercial touting the "Alien" version of this movie, I had to check it out.

I'm disappointed. Okay, Eyeguy was sort of an interesting design but added absolutely nothing to the movie. If they were going to draw an entirely new segment anyways, they should have changed the battle. Maybe they could have had Ben go hand-to-hand against a different Animo-creature or something. Besides, I like Heatblast a lot better than Eyeguy.

I watched the rest of the movie but I didn't see any other changes. Again, disappointing. I didn't fall for the first CN trick of watching all three (mainly because I didn't know until it was all over) but I feel like I was tricked here. Watching the entire movie again just for a few minutes early on is a cheap ratings trick.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie when I first saw it. But I could have watched the original again if I had wanted to spend that much time on it. I would have enjoyed it just as much as the "Alien" edition, too.

Also, the pop-up promos during the movie were extra annoying. Seeing a super-bright banner with a kid's obnoxious face pop-up during the darker scenes of the movie was just irritating. I think the only worse pop-ups they have done were the wiggling squid-tentacles that used to pop-up during season one episodes of the show.

Is there really going to be a third version of the movie? If so, I think I will wait for the reviews before I bother watching.
