There's going to be a new Tom & Jerry video movie coming out later this year called "The Magic Ring". Anybody have an idea if it'll be any good? I mean it can't get any worse than "Tom & Jerry: The Movie", Could it? Somehow, I have my doubts about it, and if it turns out bad, it wouldn't surprise me.

It might have a chance. T&J won't be talking (unlike in the last movie, which I heard wasn't so great), and I believe it's written by the people who worked on Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries which was okay. There's been a bit a speculation about it at the TTTP board, but the general consensus seems to be "wait and see"

I just recently heard about this upcoming release, and I can't say it sounds all that promising. This is what I discovered its about.
"Tom is left in charge of a priceless magical ring by his young wizard master. He is then horrified when the ring gets stuck on Jerry's head, who then runs off into the city."
To me, this sounds like an extremely lame plot, so my only hope is that they don't actually talk. I also found out Maurice LaMarche plays a character in it, but I doubt his prescence is enough to get me to rent it.

The ring gets stuck on Jerry's head and he runs off into the city. I laughed when I read that. This sounds great; reminiscent of the old shows. As long as they don't talk and still manage to beat the crap out of each other, I'm seeing the hell out of this.

Upcoming? It came out in the UK in time for Christmas. From what I saw in the adverts, we only see the wizard (looked more like an old witch) from behind. The running joke is that the ring prevents Tom from hurting Jerry. In one scene he hits him with a broom and it splits in half

Hmm. Doesn't sound too bad. The fact that they're actually not talking and just beating the $&@! out of each other sounds like a good sign. I wonder if anyone from the UK who's seen it would be kind enough to give a short review...? :bosko:
