Manager at Calif. Applebee’s accidentally grabbed drink mix instead of juice:

ANTIOCH, Calif. - Kim Mayorga was confused when her 2-year-old started making funny faces and pushing away the apple juice he had ordered at Applebee’s. The explanation came when she opened the lid of the sippy cup and was hit by the smell of tequila and Triple Sec.
The restaurant staff accidentally gave Julian Mayorga a margarita Monday. He grew drowsy and started vomiting a few hours later and was rushed to the hospital.
“I wasn’t going to make a big deal about it,” the mother told the Contra Costa Times on Thursday, “but then he got sick.”

“We absolutely believe it was an honest mistake,” Tei said.
The serving appeared to have been accidental, Antioch police Lt. Pat Welch said. Mayorga said her son is now doing fine.
She said the company has been very apologetic and offered free meals, but she added, “If they think I’m going back there, they’re ridiculous.”

It happends I guess, shame that it happend to a little kid. Applebee's should be punished a bit, but mistakes do happen.

Poor kid, throwing up and such, I wonder if there will be a court case.

I love google ads and the margarita stuff that's appearing at the bottom of the page. It makes me want to post all kinds of 'tragic' news.

Honest mistake or not, the kid did get sick and was sent to the hospital and someone has to be held accountable for it. What I would like to know is how the manager "accidentally" poured alcohol in a toddler's sippy cup? Was the manager half asleep?

Possibly, but I doubt it. I do that kind of stuff all the time, even when wide awake. I go to pour myself a glass of milk, my attention lapses for a second, I end up with juice. A very easy mistake to make. Sure, it's sad that the kid got sick, but I don't blame the manager in the slightest.

The apple juice and Magarita were apprently place in similar bottles:

The apple juice and margarita mix were stored in identical plastic bottles, and the manager mistakenly grabbed the margarita container to pour the boy’s drink

At least he's okay, and nothing serious happened. o.o Wow, I can imagine how I'd feel if that happened to my kid.

I don't really like Applebee's, anyway. :D

I don't think that was accidental. Applebee's doesn't sell pre-mixed margaritas. Even if the mix and juice were in similar bottles you'd still have to add the liquor. Should'a gone to Grizzlbees.

That seems weird how apple juice and margaritas would be stored in identical containers. It remined me of a time when went to a Japanese resturant when I was 7 or 8 and the watress put my aunt's beer in front of me. I didn't drink any of it but my aunt got my iced tea

Margerita mix does not have tequila in it. It's basically sweetentd lime juice. I'm surprised the restaurant would have premixed margueritas in a container.
Then again, it IS Applebees. Not exactly a quality dining establishment.

I told my dad about this story today and he couldn't stop cracking up. I continued to talk about how the baby was vomiting, making funny faces, and got sick afterwards he said, "yeah, that's pretty much the symptoms for everybody." LOL, we know it's a serious thing, but when you first hear about it you kinda smirk.

I really don't see how this was a simple accident. I mean good heavens how does that even happen? If it was in a normal glass then maybe its believable but a sippy cup? Sounds like a staff member was making themselves a margerita and decided to put it in a sippy cup and that's how the mix up occured. Either that or someone over the age was very dissapointed to find they were drinking apple juice instead of a margerita.

So next time check the "juice" first.

Heh... it's like "juice" on 4kids One Piece.
