It gets the shaft in relation to Mother's Day since so many people seem to have strained relationships with or don't know their dad, but any plans? Taking my old man out to dinner, probably go watch Fantastic Four, hit the casino and play a couple hands, etc.

My brother and I along with our Mom, Stepdad and Dad are going to a buffet tonight to celebrate it early. Then tomorrow we're going to see Fantastic Four with our dad (Buses don't run on Sunday). I'm giving both dad's a Card and $20 (I was going to get them an actual present, but was stuck with a cold this week).

We don't do a whole lot in our family for Mother's or Father's Day, though sometimes we go out to dinner. Dunno if we will be this year, but my mom and I are combining gifts to get him a CD set and as a joke, I'm getting my dad a coloring book with some crayons. We were supposed to be at a softball tournament this weekend, but I've busted up my knee so no more traveling.

If I have my history right, it's probably because Father's day is a reactionary event. Mother's Day was started because back then the mother was the glue of the family, therefore the day honoured all she did in that respect. Eventually, someone decided Dad's needed the same respect and that pretty much opened the door for all number of stupid days.

Since I work on Sunday, I went home and spent time with my Dad, and gave him his present.

We'll probably go to a driving range or something, dunno yet. =\

Since my aunts, uncles and cousins all live close to each other, we are most definitely doing something, though it won't be on Father's Day since it's tough finding a time slot in which no one has something else going on.

This Sunday, for Fathers Day, we're all going to the race track to bet on horses for a while... It's actually pretty fun. We each get a fair amount of money to use, and the one who wins the most money, wins the money from everyone else.

Then afterwards, our family goes out to eat and then give him the gifts we bought him and all that jazz...

The former is a bit different from how other Father's Days would go--but oh well.:p

My dad is not the type of guy who likes big fancy celebrations for him so my family is going to keep it small. Just a small breakfast where each of us gives him a card (he only likes card lol) and say how much we appreciate him. Then it's off to my cousin's graduation and another family get together. He much prefers it that way and me and my other family don't have a problem with it.

I'm abroad so I can't really spend time with my dad. I'll send him an e-mail and have a talk with him on the phone. Like the previous poster, my dad isn't one for fancy celebrations or making a momentous occasion out of the day.

Me and my mom usually buy my dad some presents and we just spend the day hanging out. He usually works out in the yard so I go and keep him company, some times cleaning the computer room because I know he hates it when I get it all dirty with my junk everywhere. We treat it almost like a normal day, since he's not the party animal type.

Nothing much. Just spending the day at home together pretty much.

We had brunch and gave gifts this morning, and we're going to go visit my mom's parents in the afternoon.

Relatively dull day, although it's nice to have a day to recognize my dad.
