I know that no laws and regulations will ever stop vile people from doing what they do, but I wonder if a little of that seemingly uncommon "common sense" could have removed the incentive to kill.

I understand why it's possible to take out insurance policies on kids, based on the assumption that they'll save money in the long run on a good life insurance policy as adults. However, it seems like a bad idea to be able to collect such large sums over a child's death. Shouldn't there be limits on what can be collected by parents and guardians before the kid turns 18?
