Well, we're 5 episodes into season 2 of Home Movies, and I was wondering how everyone feels about things so far? Don't like the new animation? The Music? I'm kinda curious to see how it's faring with everyone...

The best music from HM has to be, IMO, the ending to "Brendon's Choice" from the end of season 1. It's the most addictive yet somehow... sad(?) music. It stuck in my head for days. It's now going to stick in my head for sometime more. The second season is doing just fine for me. Here's my favorite episodes in order:

1. "Business & Pleasure"
2. "The Party"
3. "Politics"
4. "Hiatus" ...and... at a dead, dead last:
5. "Identifying A Body"

I love the new animation. Come on, how can you not? The ending to "The Party" is simply beautiful. The beach scene on "Politics" is beautiful as well.

I think I like the music from the first season a tad bit better, and that's only because I've been used to it. But the music in season 2 is perfectly fine.

And the humor is intact too. "Identifying A Body," no matter how bad it was, had at least a few good moments. "The Party" and "Business & Pleasure" are classic, really. Up with the best HM episodes ever made.

I'm impressed and am fully enjoying season two. Even my sister, who hated squiggle-vision is now complaining that it was what made the show original. I really didn't focus on the animation, but on the characters, which are pretty mucht the same. I hope this show starts to get the recognition it deserves.

I only saw a few squigglevision epiisodes, but the new season is pretty spank. I like the new animation, and the music is not even touched by any other show. This should definitely be more advertised, and watched. I bought a VCR for this show, just to show how highly I thought of it.

It looks like as of now, after the new episodes are all finished airing, AS will begin showing HM season one once again. You'll then get to see some of the greatness that was season one, atf487.

YAY!. All those UPN episodes I never watched will finally be on. Just wondering, do you prefer the newer voice for Paula, or the older one? I personally think the new one is better.

Hmmm... both the same.

Honestly, I can't tell between the two. I wasn't even aware there were two actressess until I found out here. Crazy.

The new Paula is infinitely better. The old one sounded like a New York cabby. It really irritated me.

I've actually felt season two has been a little worse than the first. I'm not saying the new episodes aren't great, I just think if I was going to put together a tape of my favorite episodes, all of them would be from the first season.

On a final note, am I the only one who thinks there should have been some ambiguity left with Walter and Perry?

About Walter and Perry, I, personally, love them just they way they are. They crack me up. But it seems a lot of people here don't much care for them.

I think it's friggin' hilarious that Walter and Perry seem to have aroused some homophobia among the fans. The show has taken advantage of the more permissive standards of "Adult Swim." They couldn't have gotten away with Walter and Perry if they were still on UPN.

I love the new Home Movies Season Two. I like That one..where McGuirk accuses Brendan of Takin Drugs! That was pure funny. I liked "The Party" Too. The corn chip complaints were funny! Fenton-But mom,I like the ones with the blue corns not the white corns! The walter and terry cut in the middle of the complaints were funny! And,Terrys appearence in the movie Fenton hated. Fentons complaints...reminds me of someone! [I guess I love "The Party!"} All my personal fave's are with the Season Two. [Duh,my two faves listed are from season two!]

They look like muppets. ANGRY muppets. Like extras on classic muppet show.

Don't get me wrong, I still think Walter and Perry are really funny. All I had meant was I think the charatcers were a bit more believeable before they asked if they could go to the bathroom together. I thought in "The Party" they just got rid of any subtlety at all, and now the characters just seem like a cheap ongoing gag rather than the usual interesting characters that make HM so great.

Again, I still laugh at Walter and Perry, (though it seems 90% of the forum doesn't) I just felt they became caricatures in "The Party."

Well, as much depth as Home Movies has, I really don't have any problem with it containing some caricatures. As long as they don't focus on them... cause the alternative, having W & P being well-developed characters, is kind of a bizarre idea. Since HM is just a comedy (at heart), it can have its caricatures, ala Troy McClure, Ralph Wiggum....etc....

Yeah...you're right. I was never really expecting them to be 'deep characters' that work on many levels, or anything. I guess I just expected them to be more than the "cheap gag" they seem to be becoming.

This has probably been talked about and analyzed way too much--but I guess that's what message boards are all about. :D

At first I was a little leary of season 2 - unlike most everyone else, I didn't like Politics. Also, I admit to being one of the many who thought HM wouldn't be as good in Flash. However, HM season 2 is really turning out to be as good as HM ever was. Also, I just want to throw in my two cents on the Walter and Perry issue: Walter and Perry are amusing, but they're kind of one-trick-ponies in terms of actual comedic content. It was a concept that started out cute, and got less and less cute as it became exploited.

P.S. Am I the only one that liked Identifying a Body? I mean, come on, he willed him a SAUSAGE for crying out loud!

I agree, the second voice is much better... Of course I reject Paula Poundstone in any form! ;)

As far as season 2; I'm enjoying it. Originally I really missed the Squigglevision animation style, but the new style has grown on me. I just want more Mitch Hedburg (who voiced Mitch and the pet cemetary hippy-priest) this season.

You're not alone. I, too, liked "Identifying a Body." I love the interaction betweenMcGuirk and Brendon, and IaB was chock full of it!

I'm weird...I thought Identifying A Body was great, Dad was good, and Therapy was...meh.

The Party, however, is my new favorite.

"Jason, you blacked out."
"You're not my mother."

"Impressions" is perhaps the more underrated episode of the season. It isn't as memorable as other episodes... I mean, could it stack up to "The Party"? But "Impressions" contains some really good moments. The whole ending was particularly amazing to me.

Yes, I too enjoyed Identifying A Body. I can't really see why the majority of people hated it. "It's... It's INCREDIBLE!" Come on, that was hilarious.

Also, Dad was good and Therapy was...

Eh.

The Party, however, didn't sit well for me. I laughed about once throughout the entire thing.

Generally, I like Season 1 better than Season 2. Season 1 has more laughs, and Season 2 had more story, which got in the way of the humor.

There has been more story in season 2. Perhaps that's it's downfall, if it has any.

I Loved Impressions. I thought it was great. But I also love Identifying a Body. And I hated Dad and Business and Pleasure. So I think I'm a little different from the norm.

I think we both are. Some people thought Impressions was just "meh..." and some people thought Business & Pleasure was terrible.

hello there. newbie on the site, but nice to be here.
i was searching for HM on the web and found this... odd thing that you're talking about the second series. in the UK CN have shown them all. I started REALLY getting into the show at xmas when CN showed two episodes back to back. also having CN+ meant i could watchit more.it took me a while, but having an hour really helped. now it's my favourite, so i thought i'd try and see how many have been made.
Also, showing them at random (as they seem to here) means i haven't been able to tell what series is what. the first one i saw properly was 'school trip' and i thought it was an oldie. i've only just found out that the first episode was the one with Paula on the date with coach! I thought THAT was a new one.

anyway... nice to know i'm not alone in my love of this. It deserves a wider audience, it's hard to get into it after the frantic genius of cow & chicken, so it took me a while. i'm hoping the show will get a decent slot on terrestrial tv in the UK. maybe brendon will be a household name then.

i can't say that any episode is bad, it's a bit like Seinfeld, even at it's worst, it's way beter than anything else. i mean, 'identifying a body'... who could not like a cartoon where coach asks for volunteers to help him go to the morgue!!!

oh yeah... another thing (i'll go soon). it's good to know the episode titles! should have come here earlier.
