This show is really funny. I was flipping through the channels the other night and came upon this show! So i start watching it and really enjoy it I can't believe how good it is. This is the first time since Courage the Cowardly Dog and Cow Chicken that I have enjoyed a show on cartoon network. I can't believe I haven't seen it before then. Well now I'm gonna have to watch this. Monday thru Thursday at 9:30pm. If you haven't seen it watch! The character Jake who is a spider monkey is funny to watch with all the trouble he gets in.

This show is ok. It's not my favorite but its decent. I like Windsor the gorilla. Every time he says something it just seems funny. I like his voice.

Totally agree with this. What I do like are the voices and some of the character designs, but that's about it. I thought the show had real promise in the beginning, but that promise has been squandered. :(

My Gym Partner's a Monkey is one of those shows which i though was mentally retarded at first like camp lazlo, and billy & mandy, but then i grew into it and got used to seeing Jake's ass all the time.

The character designs are awkward and everyone is always yelling for no reason. The show's annoying, but some of Jake's more subtle jokes are funny.

From the purely technical stand point, it's poorly paced, the gags it does put forward are typically weak (probably 1 real gem for every 5 or 6 flops,) it's fairly repetitive, it's kid-centric rather than just generally funny (executives will argue this is fine - this is wrong - CN's biggest hits had a general audience, not just kids, and the same can be said for all of Nick's biggest animated series too,) and in general, it smacks of script-first animation, which is fine if you're the Simpsons or Futurama or Family Guy (IE: you have top notch, expensive writers, and you're writing a more adult program,) or you're an anime (though even many anime atleast are based of a manga, giving them some sort of a story board to work from,) but is typically the kiss of death for a short-form comedy cartoon aimed at kids that's gag oriented. To make a gag-oriented short-form comedy cartoon work, you need to storyboard first, or atleast do the majority of your story creation and timing in the boarding process. It's why stuff like Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Lab, Samurai Jack and Ed, Edd n' Eddy work so well and are still entertaining even if you've seen them ad-nauseum while the script-driven series like Lazlo, 3000, Gym Partner, and well, pretty much every script-driven kids' show but Foster's (which probably only gets away with being script first because Craig McCracken is a very skilled director who is working with a very small staff and a nominal overseas element,) lack the universal appeal of the series that really got CN off the ground (back when CN Studios was a storyboard-first operation.)
