Well, it used to be, really. Now it's more scripted.

When it aired on UPN, those episodes were using a technique called "Retroscripting" -- the actors making up things on the spot with a general outline. Then the audio editors would edit the numerous hours of audio recorded from the actors, and edit, edit, and edit. The animation was of course created afterwards, like usual.

To save the audio editors amounts and amounts of time, they began writing more or less scripts for each episode. That's what you see now. Perhaps there is a little improvisation here and there, though.

home movies was better before and i loved the squigglevision,
that reminded me of that show on abc's sat. morning block. They should go back to the way they were doing things before.

If they showed it on ABC woulden't the rating be Y7? How did it make it on adult swim?

Home Movies was NOT better before. Quit telling yourself that because it's just as funny as it's always been. But people can never be satisfied, can they?

The Party was about 70% retroscripted.

I didn't notice a change it quality between the seasons. I actually like the smooth lines now and I find the plots just as good.

I liked Home Movies better with Sguigglevision. The characters are still as funny as ever though, Some of the new ones are pretty crappy . And they changed Dwaynes voice!!!!

It used to be a low mumble. On the episode Hiatus... it wasn't. Not that big of a deal, its still the greatest show on tv

It wasn't Home Movies, it was a show called Science Court, that was also done in Squigglevision and featured some of the same voice actors.
