View Full Version : The Toon Zone Member Awards: The Winners.
Mr. Pedro

Ladies and gentlemen. The time has finally counted.
The voices have been heard and the voices have been counted.
All that's left is the handing out of pixelated trinkets and goodwill.
Welcome one and all to the third annual Toon Zone Member Awards! Now for the first time in TZ Award history, you will not have to hear me present each and every award. Yes, I out-sourced some of the work to willing co-conspirators, who I shall thank time and time again for what they've done.
Now let's get the ball rolling here. Presenting the first award of the evening(s) is a newly older and wiser, Captain Zechs! (Most convenient birthday announcement ever).
-----------------------------------------
Spam is the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet Forums. It is generally posted by people refrenced by the term “noobs,” or “newbies.” These 2 terms however, are very different. While one is a negative connotation, noob, meaning that you know the ropes and still do useless things, such as posting spam, the other just means you are new and have time to learn. Spam is something that has been around ever since the internet was founded, meaning that since it has not gone away yet, it never will. Spam, on our very own forums, can be very funny, or as a joke, meaning it is not needed to be taken serious. However, there is spam that is not funny, and usually gets people mad and then the flames erupt. But hey, if you have some free time, dig into this spam right here:
http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:...neous/spam.jpg (http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:9lKQL_xJ2IVBsM:http://www.deskpicture.com/DPs/Miscellaneous/spam.jpg)
With that said, here are the nominees for Best/Worst Spam Thread:
--Beans Make You Fly
-Timbox Anything
-All of them
-April Fool's Day
-Dexter's Odyssey
And the winner is..................Beans Make You Fly!
---------------------------------------------------------
Now normally, we'd hand the award out to the maker of said thread. However, the Toon Zone Member Awards Committee were unable to contact the creator of the winning thread in a timely manner. In this event, we shall graciously donate the award to charity. The charity receiving the award is the Society for Retired Water-Skiing Squirrels.

These noble creatures have brought thrills and joy to our lives for decades. It is only fitting that they receive the honorable treatment they deserve as the approach their golden years. So have a heart folks. Support your veteran squirrels.

I saw it. I'm surprised you didn't; it was in the general animation forum AND the Cartoon Network forum. It was called "Beans Make You Fart" for a while, until some mod decided to rename it for some reason. But really, Timbox got robbed.

I think that'd feel kind of anti-climactic at this point in time. We've been waiting awhile to find out the winners, let's at least make it fun and suspenseful.

Don't mind me. Just as you say we've been waiting a while as is, so I'm cautious about it taking longer.

Now to present the award for Best Male Member, Toon Zone's very own purple-haired.......um......purplehairedwonder.
-----------------------------------------------
It takes a truly special member of our community to step up and be recognized as one of the top posters. It takes even more to be recognized as one of the top males considering the vast majority of the board is male. So when the Barenaked Ladies sang, "What a good boy, what a smart boy, what a strong boy," they were onto just a few of the credentials it takes to be considered the creme de la creme. You might say the nominees this year separated themselves as men from the boys. Here's to the best of the Y-chromosomed members. The nominees for Best Male Member 2006 are:
Best Male Member
-Lord Dalek
-KuwabaraTheMan
-One Radical Dude
-Mr. Pedro
-Veemonjosh
-Sketch
And the winner is..........................

"This is a pretty big shock for me. I was very pleased to be nominated, and I'm stunned that the voters consider me the Best Male poster. I've only been here 3 years, so I'm very honored to recieve this award, especially when I was up against many very good posters. I honestly didn't see this coming at all.
Thank you to everyone who voted for me. It's a huge honor."

Thanks. Like I said, I didn't see this coming at all. I was honored to even be nominated, so to beat out several members who I really expect is a huge honor to me.
Thanks to everyone on Toon Zone. I feel so...wanted.:anime:

And now to present the award for Best Moderator/Administrator, a two-time TZ Award winner himself, Lord Dalek!
-----------------------------------------------
*Curtain goes up to reveal a rather disheaveled Dalek armed with a bottle of whiskey*
Dalek: Wow, issss this the Osscars or something?
Pedro (offstage, whispering): No!
Dalek: Ooooh, iz it thuh Golden Globes?
Pedro (offstage, whispering): It’s the TZ Member Awards Dummy!
Dalek: Oh okay, whatever yooou say Chaaarlie. I’ve haaad a lit-le too much drink *hiccup* so this may take a laaaaaawng tiiiiiiiiime….. what am I here for agaaain?

And the winner issssss…. *splat*
*Dalek passes out, Pedro runs from backstage and grabs the envelope*
Pedro: andthewinneris..........................................................DUKE!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
o.o Wow. I am shocked. Really. How in the world I managed to beat out Maune (not to mention pretty much everybody in the DC/Marvel Boards) is a mystery to me. I've never even written one of these things before!
So, since the populace believes that I am a great leader, I say we head down to Atlanta and take over not just Cartoon Network, but TimeWarner as a whole and make me the CEO. I promise everyone that when I am named the CEO of TimeWarner, everyone who helped me out will get their own giant robot. I can't promise that said giant robot will actually work, but it will be a giant robot. But that's only if we conquer! Now, let us march and reclaim what is rightfully not ours!
Oh yea, I guess I need to make a political statement, don't I? Umm, I believe we should focus our attention on Canada instead of Iraq because our neighbors to the north beat up Steven Colbeagle the Eagle. That can NOT be tolerated! We must put this nation's full attention on solving this diplomatic crisis here and now!
Finally, I am still shocked that I actually won. I wonder if it's because people thought I was a Democrat...
KuwabaraTheMan
03-27-2007, 11:29 PM
Congrats to Duke. He's an awesome poster, and he pulls triple duty in Moderating, so this was a well deserved award(although all the nominees were great, of course).

Now appearing to present the award for Best New Member, a much-beloved member who has one this very award in the past, the oh-so voluptuous, the
vivacious, the remarkable, the colorful, Kury Wagner!
-----------------------------------------------------
We call them newbies, n00bs, and some other names that wouldn't clear the forum filter... but if they last, we eventually bother to learn their actual screenname, and maybe even their real names. Whether we love them because they can be so clueless or because they have potential to be a veteran member someday, no matter the reason, there's always passion felt toward newbies. The nominees for Toon Zone's best new member of 2006 are:
Best New Member
-J'onn J'onzz
-SilentBat18
-Dr. Pepper
-HG Revolution
-clucky
And the winner is..............................J'onn J'onzz!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------
Wow, I won. I'm surprised and honored to have gotten the most votes as best newbie, considering some of my competition. SilentBat18, Dr. Pepper, HG Revolution, and clucky are all great posters. Thank you to all that voted for me.
I still have no clue how I beat out Maune (who does a helluva lot more than me), Karl (who's infinitely more literate than I am), Colin (one of the bigwigs), and Martianinvader (who is so much more wittier than I am), but thank you anyway for this award! I can now hang it next to my non-descript bowling award I got when I was 6! Ya see that? TWO awards!
EDIT: And as a prime example...I had no clue J'onn and HG Revolution were new members. o.O
KuwabaraTheMan
03-27-2007, 11:53 PM
Congrats to J'onn. He's done a great job at integrating himself as a member of the forum, and has become one of my good friends over the past few months.
Very deserving winner.
EDIT: And as a prime example...I had no clue J'onn and HG Revolution were new members. o.O
I only knew when I was nominating because I was chatting to him and said 'can't think of any good new members from last year', and he said "I'm a new member".

Comming up next to present the award for Most Memorable Moment, he's part warrior, part avian, all Samurai Quack!!!
---------------------------------------------
Hello, basement dwellers Toon Zoners! This next award celebrates the most memorable moments you people had while arguing with your mom about how long you can keep living with her complaining about how you have no friends whatsoever and your life sucksreading the Toon Zone forums. All of you have been waiting for this, so here it is, folks.
The nominees are....
-April Fool's Day
-Who's Hitler?
-Back to the Future Mega Chat Extravaganza
-Landstander & Strawberry Jam Comic Collaboration
And the winner is................................Who's Hitler?!!!!!!!!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Now regretfully yet again, we were unable to make contact the party most responsible for this episode, however we have decided to hand off the award to someone just as responsible. However, we must warn the Toon Zone populace that the recipient isn't exactly in the greatest of moods, particularly ever since finding out that there were still people who DIDN'T know who he is:

And now we're back! Here to present the award for Best Thread. He's freakier than Prince and more rambunctious than Husker Du and The Replacements combined, the Twin-City Terror himself, Speedy Boris!!!
----------------------------------------------------------
Ah, best thread. 2006 was a doozy for all kinds of threads: Super long and stringy talkback threads that just seemed to go on forever with one sentence replies, threads with speculations aplenty, threads with news that caused nerdgasms, threads with news that caused people to vomit in disgust, threads that were ignored like the kid with no friends on the playground, crazy joke threads, threads that made you think, threads with full AIM transcripts, threads hard on the lowly 56k, threads that made no sense, threads that didn't end well, threads that didn't begin well but ended fine (those being far more rare), blog-style threads (you know who you are!), the spam threads that are just so much fun to delete (no sarcasm there!), and most importantly, the all-important April Fools out-of-control wackiness threads where seemingly normal users explode in a satire of stupid n00b behavior. Because after all, even the most serious internet forums need to let their hair down once in a while.
Best Thread
-Yu_Gi_Oh!_The_Abridged_Series (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=174847)
-New_Atheism (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=177228%5D)
-Dexter's_Odyssey (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=176802)
-Gundam_Seed_Destiny (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=162637)
-OMG! I Just Ordered Pizza...ONLINE! (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=176770)
I have my favorites, but what WON? Let's find out. The winner is...
........................................OMG! I Just Ordered Pizza ONLINE!!!!!!!
Accepting the award is peacebyanymeans.
------------------------------------------------------
Wow, this is unexpected. I mean, not unexpected by the fact that I didn't think I'd win or didn't deserve it. I mean unexpected as in I didn't even know I was entered into this contest. But, none the less, I am honored that people approve of the sheer truth and righteousness of pizza in all of it's forms and flavors.
For many a year, pizza has been at the forefront of our civilization, all the events that have shaped our world have come from it. War, peace, good and bad. All of it has one thing in common. Pizza.
Was was Homer eating when he wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey? Pizza. What was the food of choice by the Spanish during the Inquisition? Pizza. What was the food being served during the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Pizza. What was the pilot eating on the plane, the Enola Gay, when he dropped the atomic bomb over Hiroshima? Pizza.
The list goes on and on.
And now, we celebrate one of the most important and outstanding moments in human history. Sure, we could order pizza by phone. But the hassle of having to speak to someone always made that method really, really stupid.
And with many thanks to Al Gore, inventor of said internets, which you and me both can communicate right now, pizza achieved the most grandest moment in the history of forever.
Ordering pizza via the internet.
It. Was. Brilliant.
No other achievement in pizza history has come close (except for maybe bagel bites). People already eat pizza all the time. Why not have the ability to just Ctrl+t (or Command-t, if your a bit of a loser) to open up and whole new world tab of pizzology.
And so I leave you with this: Thank pizza. THANK IT! Without pizza we would all probably be monkeys still. Charles Darwin? Pizza lover (it's true, look it up).
And to celebrate such gloriousness I say PIZZA FOR ALL!
(I only got $7.00 on me, so we'll all have to chip in, alright?)

Now, here to present the award for best running joke on the internets. She has two arms to rock you with, two arms to sock you with, two arms making obscene gestures to deplete your self-esteem and two arms filling out the legal brief claiming it was all done in self-defense. Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. Octopus!!!
-------------------------------------------
The running joke is a longstanding tradition in comedy. A well-known example in animation is opening sequence of The Simpsons, with its changing messages on the chalkboard. The running joke has become a popular tradition of Toon Zone. A member of the forum posts something that amuses other members. The reaction prompts the joke to be spread from thread to thread, and in short time, the situation becomes a running joke on the boards.
The nominees for Best Running Joke/Meme are:
Best Running Joke
- Gwen is not dead
- OVER 9000!!!!!!
- Pop That Corn
- Anything from Abridged Yu-Gi-Oh
- Anything Knux Five/ Chad Lee
And the winner is ..............Anything from Abridged Yu-Gi-Oh!!!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------
And since the award is going to a joke, rather than an entity that puts awards on shelves, the TZ Awards Committee shall also donate this award to charity. This time, the charity we are giving this one too is..............
............. Angry Geeks who Parody Badly-Dubbed Anime Anonymous.
Yes, there is no other organization more needy deserving of the recognition, and the funding to be quite frank. Sure, some folks can do it right, but for the most part, it's just a lot of cursing over movie-making software, posting it on Youtube and hoping for any rating higher than 3. This organization seeks to help those with such lurid habits. How you ask? Through the most painful of methods. Yes, anything goes here. Flogging, shock therapy, the forced removal of toenails, waterboarding, watching Mission to Mars. Anything to get these lost souls to associate their pastime with pain.
So give a hoot, and give to this foundation today! Lest you wish to sit through Blood +: The Abridged Series.

----------------------------------------------------------
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev'rybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.
Queen Mary, she's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That Baby can't be blessed
Till she sees finally that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.
It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is this pain in here
I can't stay in here
Ain't it clear that--
I just can't fit
Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit
When we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world.
Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
You make love just like a woman, yes, you do
Then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl.
And the nominees are:
Best Female Member

I felt honored just to be nominated, so this really is amazing. A huge thanks to everyone who voted for me and I tip my cap to the other female posters. *Reaches for hat and finds nothing* o.o;; Seems I'm not wearing one... but, you know what I mean.
Thank you, this is a great honor and I'll try to live up to it.

Alright, there's two awards left to present, but we're gonna get both out the way.
The Sexy Member award was once again won by JohnCrichton (no tie this time). However, since we're unsure when he'll respond to the notification PM, we'll let him accept the award on his own time.
Which means this leaves us with the very last award. The coveted Best Toon Zone Member of 2006. Enough waiting, let's get to the nominees.
Best Member of 2006
-Kury Wagner
-Hellcat
-Sketch
-Artimus Gigan
-TheMecca
Now the moment of truth has arrived. The winner is.........................
Kury Wagner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gah, thank you all so much!! I was really banking that I wouldn't win any awards this year, since I've been kinda lacking around TZ the last year, but noooo! Best Member!! I'm so honored. Some really cool guys were up for the same award, and I feel kinda bad that none of them won. You guys are awesome, really, this isn't just speech-based hyperbole. I love Toon Zone so much. These forums are my online home... I have so many friends here, so many people I love [you know who you are]. Thank you everyone who nominated me and voted for me, you're fabulous. Mwah!
---------------------------------------------------
And with that, IT'S OVER! Thank you to everyone who voted. Thanks to all of the winners. A big thanks to all of our guest presenters.
Most importantly though, THANK YOU *Points at you* for reading this and bearing with such a long wait. We hope you enjoyed it and we home to see you all next year!

Congratulations to everyone who won! Maybe this'll help me to remember that purpehairedwonder is, indeed, female.
Shame Timbox didn't win anything, though.
I'm with ya!!!
