Like what? You know, I started watching this episode of Family Guy, thinking to myself, I bet there will be an added scene. Then I thought to myself, do I really want to watch the whole episode again to see maybe one new scene? So, I shut it off. I'm beginning to think I should strictly stick to watching the Adult Swim episodes and avoid the Fox airings even when Desperate Housewives is a rerun.

2 Random things to add pre-ratings

1. (Yes this is about 6 months too late but,)
Frisky Dingo is freaking brilliiant. I never would have thought that the 7030 crew would be able to equal if not surpass the quality of Sealab's first and second seasons. I figured they might have peaked 5 years ago, (considering how awful some season 3 and 4 seasons were).

2. Knifing around and Flipmode are freaking brilliant Space Ghosts'. I know Matt and Dave only made 6? in 01 (because they were working on a fast-food spin-off), but there needed to be more. These were some of the best SG's ever both in traditional interview style (Kinfing) and complete off the wall insanity (Flip mode)

So I'm reading Legend Of Zelda manga (The one for OoT. I'm a big fan of the series, I should've read all this a long time ago but I never got to it.) and I'm thinking: if they ever did a Zelda anime, Vic Mignogna's Edward Elric voice would be perfect for child Link in a dubbed version. It completely fits the personality he has in this manga at least. I mean, it's the voice I'm imagining in my head for Link as I'm reading and I never really do that. I know a lot of people cast who they think would do well as a character and imagine them with that voice but I never do. All characters sound the same really in my head. Except for gender differences and if there's a specific accent pointed out like if a character has a southern accent. But otherwise, the same. But when I read Link in this, that voice is just so perfect that that's what I imagine it as.

I know but that wasn't an anime and it wasn't specifically based on any of the games. Plus, Link's personality was totally different to any other portrayal. I personally liked it for what it was. Unlike most, I didn't mind Link's brash, cocky personality. But if they made a new one, preferrably an anime, it should be done seriously and with a more true Link personality like in the mangas. It should also be based on one of the games, preferrably OoT.

Good point, I had nearly forgotten about that. It certainly did get a good amount of people to check it out (Boondocks and Bleach also rebounded). Now we'll see if the audience stays.

Sunday looking good as usual, though according to a bump, double Family Guy is to try and build more momentum for the night, leading me to think that the drop-off after the big shows is quite steep.

They played them a couple random times (usually with the pre-digital episodes, which is the "InuYasha grabs the Shikon Jewel from Episode 1" eyecatch).

This episode was a good example as to why the show looks so much better once it went digital. While it's far from the series' best animation, it still looks really good.

I'm enjoying the VHS-quality bad fansub of PHF. Sure, [as] may hate anime, but they really love April Fool's. And, for all you elitist anime fans, get a grip. You're getting Fan Service moments. I gotta TiVo this.

How is it "eletist" to expect what as says will air to air? To expect a network not to mock its viewers just because of the actions of a small percentage of them do on the AS official forum?

If the "aqua teen movie" on sunday turns out to be the three new eps we're missing tonight, than watching fresh prince to wait out PHF will all be worth it.

They won't prank the comedy people this way.

My guess is tomorrow's going to be bumps promising the release of the movie...and promising, and promising...and then...

We'd air the Aqua Teen Movie
But we're out of time.
Sorry.

*agrees with Scriel* if you're not a CE type person, your customers should mean something and not screwing them over via changes without alerting them within a week's time. That's the stuff people expect on regular TV networks. Why should CN/AS be any different?

I have the Samurai Champloo on DVD. Sadly it lacks something that many ADV releases have, commentary about things such as names and/or little tidbits that fan subs did offer.

Still, better than this.

This isn't new. This is just an old episode with bad VHS quality and inaccurate sub-titles.

I've never seen the first episode that they aired tonight. When did they show it before? Then again, maybe this show is just so boring that I can't even remember if I'd already seen an episode.

Anyway, this sucks. Couldn't they have aired Perfect Hair Forever over Oblongs and Boondocks instead? Why do they have to air it over the new episodes? This sucks. No new anime to watch tonight. Toonami was airing old movies and Adult Swim is airing Perfect Hair Forever. You know, if I had known Adult Swim wasn't going to air anime tonight I could have gone out and gotten trashed or something. Oh well.

It's elitist to expect [as] to play it straight for April Fool's Day, which is what today is, for better or worse, and complain like crazy on the Internet when they do pull a stunt. I'm an otaku, and I'm enjoying the bad VHS-quality fansubbing of PHF. Plus, I saw E7 on the Fix last night. :anime:
Can't wait for what will air at 10pm. ATHFCMFFT or my prediction of a Saved By The Bell mini-marathon?

They pranked the saturday anime this year AND last year, and AFD was on DIFFERENT DAYS. They just like pissing off their viewers.

At least last year they had the decency to air the new episode that was supposed to air, so there was no harm done. This year they're really being true jack-offs.

I'm not holding my breath, AT ALL, but they should play the Melancholy of Haruhi.

They-
1#) like trippy anime like Big O, Eva, E7, PA, etc.-

- and 2#) while they normally (and thankfully) avoid fanservice-heavy shows, but MOH is worth it and is part of the humor, and-

-they 3#) just showed that they don't mind showcasing fanservice shots for comedy's sake, seeing as how they have all those fan service shots for a laugh on April Fool's day, so doing the same for the hilarious fanservice in MOH is more or less the same.

But then that would be too easy.

Now, for the April Fool's jokes:

Showing just episodes of PHF with subtitles, and purposely making the visuals look funny? Funny only the first episode. But showing the first new episode of PHF? Kick. Ass. Just wished they showed more afterward than just the subbed old episodes.

.....hmmm, the Spike-ish Guy said its an "anime mind****". I kinda like that 12. OZMO did that, but it'll get real old if they do the same with PHF. Hopefully they're just spoofing anime mind****s, because if they try to pull a serious one again, its going to be become old hat real fast. Now if they're just spoofing them and pointing out anime min****s, then that's kinda funny.

Heh, I like typing "anime mind****s". :p IT BRINGS ME GREAT JOY!!!!!1!!123456789!!1 :D

Heh heh, Happy April Fool's day Everybody.

Seriously, folks, it's April Fools Day and they're just having some fun. New anime episodes will be next weekend.... unless they have them during the encore block. That's a possibility like last year.

Alien,

This kind of logic always eludes me. "There are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq." "We must defend the US by invading Vietnam". "Korea must be made stable to ensure the threat of communism stays out of that region."

So now we are suppose to accept this because it's a "joke"?

This is the sad fact that AFD falls on a weekend. I do remember Family Guy getting the moustache treatment. And, the moustaches began at midnight (when AFD begins, legally) and left after it became April 2 on the clocks. The reason why the full block got the joke last year? Do you really expect them to joke for one hour?
For the complainers, AFD 2008 is Tuesday. Or, late Monday after the Colbert Report (because I have no f'ing clue what [as] will do at 11:30 after they lose Futurama.). We'll see what they do and confirm if really hate anime 100%, or that it is you and [as] are sadistic monkey children and love torturing anime complainers.

Shut up and eat your cheese sandwich!! To TiVo!

Watched the new PHF episode. Kinda disappointed that they didn't actually have Gerald go to Tuna Mountain like he was supposed to last episode (Or did they?) and that everything just in general made less sense than any episode before.

Perfect Hair Forever really is just 12 Oz. Mouse with better animation disguised as an anime parody.

Good thing I loved 12 Oz. Mouse.

In any case, this episode was pretty funny even if it didn't make sense. I liked the mind-**** discussion between the giraffe and the young man. I also really liked Rod and his new family watching Cat Wars on TV and Rod rambling on about Cat Vader while farting.

At least last year they had the decency to air the new episode that was supposed to air, so there was no harm done. This year they're really being true jack-offs.You guys have seen the schedule at AdultSwim.com, right? You do know that they scheduled the same Anime premieres (and Samurai Champloo!) this week and next, right?

That should have been a huge red flag right there. I figured there was a slim chance it was a typo, but most likely an April Fool's stunt.

So just relax! You're not missing a thing, and you can afford to go one week without Anime premieres for a little immature April Fool's fun.

As for [as] specifically pissing off Anime fans... well, let's be honest. Anime just lends itself well to a little ribbing. It either takes itself too seriously and/or is rife with genre cliches. Comedy doesn't work as well because it's already ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I love anime - but it's good to be able to laugh at these things once in a while. FUNimation rep Lance Heiskell has said that he loved last year's pranked Fullmetal Alchemist episode with the fart sounds and has saved a recording for himself. Certain other anime fans just don't seem to have that sense of humour, and I think [as] just enjoys telling these people, "Hey, lighten up - it's just a show!"

Heh, I know its April Fool's day and all, and people are doing joke threads and all, but I'm also seeing alot of banned posters (unless those are jokes too?).

So my question is this: What is allowed and what isn't? I just assumed it was the same as last year, with people given free reign, but now I'm not sure, unless those bans are also jokes, or they got banned for something else altogether.

Thanks!

I didn't mind the April Fool's jokes with PHF because the off-subtitles combined with the crappy video quality made it interesting for an hour or so. Especially since I originally gave up on PHF after a few episodes... yet somehow kinda deduced they weren't going in chronological episode order.

I also saw someone mention the first episode was brand new. That explains why that one seemed normal. But to be fair... if PHF was like the (joke airings) normally, I'd watch it because I thought the subtitles were hilarious.

What I didn't like was AS once again wielding the 'we're showing anime fanservice because we don't normally' stick. As much as it might downgrade the perception of anime to the general public, short of getting a show as far-reaching as FMA was, only a fanservice-laden anime at this point would get really high ratings. Sad, but true. Why AS doesn't, I don't know.

Most of the shows where that would be a concern wouldn't air on Adult Swim due to the lack of quality. The ones that I worry about are the ones with fanservice but are more entertaining than what's on now, but because of the fanservice, won't air.

Wait, this is a dead horse. *Backs away*
