So a couple of days ago I did a Yahoo search, and found my site. Clicked on it to go to the site, and what I saw was...ads. Tried another search on Google with different search...ads. So anytime I find a website through a web search, I get redirected (as the address bar says) to ads.
I had a feeling this was an adware problem, so I ran Ad Aware, and it keeps freezing up when I think it finds the problem, even in Safe Mode. Spybot didn't find it, Norton didn't find it, and system restore didn't remove it. I even tried removing IE 6 (where it happened) and moved to IE 7. No change.
Think of this as a challenge, I guess. My theory is that this is a problem that I have to resolve through a special fix, but obviously, every time I try to search for it through a web search, I get ads. This is my last resort before I just re-install Windows. If anyone knows how and where I can fix this, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Then there are two absolutely powerful spyware removal programs you can use: (they are not free)
Spyware Doctor 4
Spy Sweeper 5.2

I tried Spy Sweeper, but that didn't fix the problem. It did get rid of those nasty ads that pop-up over highlighted words, though, so it wasn't a total loss.

Seriously, stop using IE. I like it just as well as Firefox but I had to give it up because of the same problem.
If you could, list the Web addresses that pop up and maybe someone on here could search for you?
Spyware can get pretty serious. I've had to resort to actually manually editing my registry when there were things Adaware and Spybot couldn't completely eliminate.

It's all of them. Using those searches redirects to the bogus sites. What did you change in the registry? I might try that.

Please don't go mucking about in your registry if you can't figure out exactly what needs to be removed. You can do a lot of damage that way.
I'm not sure what to do about your problem, now. Maybe someone more tech savvy will see this and help you.

How about.....
Try Firefox?!
You might have a really stubborn 0day rootkit that no spyware remover knows about. Seriously, just use firefox.
